Wireless World 1 7 Friday, September 9, 2016 M&M LIFTS, INC LAUNCHES NON-CDL TRUCK-MOUNTED AERIAL LIFT An interview with Marcelo Toselli, President of M&M Lifts, Inc. WW: Tell our readers about your compa- ny. MT: I founded M&M Lifts, Inc., located in Buena Park, California, in August 2003, after being in the aerial lift indus- try for seven years. M&M Lifts offers new equipment sales, installation, serv- ice, maintenance, training and certifica- tion of turnkey bucket trucks, vans and trailers for customers in numerous indus- tries. We represent a variety of aerial lift brand manufacturers, such as SoCage and Dur-A-Lift. The variety of custom work that we do demonstrates our inten- tion to produce vehicles tailored to the specific needs and industries of each individual customer. Some of our cus- tomers include: Broken Arrow Communications, Techsico Leasing and Total Telco Specialists. WW: What is your goal for attending CTIA? MT: Our goal for attending CTIA is to increase visibility for our non-CDL truck-mounted aerial lifts and show attendees the cost effectiveness, time saving and work efficiency our wide product line provides, from 34 to 240 foot reaching height. WW: What are you most proud of in ref- erence to the non-CDL chassis? MT: We are very proud of the ability to reach 92- 105-120-feet on our aerial lifts, which are mounted on trucks that require no commercial driver's license (non-CDL). The reach of these aerial lift models will increase hourly productivity and profit margin for companies dealing with installation and maintenance in some of the following industries: telecommuni- cations, construction and sign. In addition, we are proud of the effi- ciency we are able to provide to our cus- tomers via our aerial lifts, in the form of saving project manager time in regards to planning aerial lift deliveries and pick- ups, allowing the customer to work mul- tiple sites with no drop-off or pick-up fees, as well as no down time waiting for a rental lift to arrive or not being able to rent a particular lift due to its unavail- ability. Additionally, using our products, especially our aerial lifts mounted on non-CDL chas- sis, allows customers easier access to sites where deliver- ing a self-propelled lift or utilizing a larger truck would be problematic. WW: Who are your target customers? MT: Our target customers are companies involved in service and maintenance, such as telecommunications construction, sign and electrical contractor companies. WW: What do you see for the future? MT: The company is poised to expand its presence and keep on providing our wide range of aerial lifts ranging from 34 to 240 feet. WW: How can wireless and electronics retailers address the need to both increase ROI while decreasing their carbon foot- print? What strategies and options are available today? DS: Over the last 25 years we have been in business, we have seen retailers and brands struggle to maintain pace with the latest trends. The age-old saying of 'haste makes waste' is so true when you are referring to retail fixtures and displays. Retailers are facing tighter deadlines and intense pressure to deliver their products and services to market. In turn, this has caused most all programs and rollouts to be rushed with no thought or strategy on what is coming next. They know their product or store is going to require updates, but don't have the luxury of time to develop a solution that is prepared for this certainty. WW: What can a retailer or brand do to address this challenge? What strategy should they adopt? DS: The simple answer is taking on a systems approach to retail. Systems approach translates to identifying a dis- play or fixture program that is designed for changeability at its core. It is imper- ative that retailers partner with suppli- ers that have adopted this strategy and integrate this into the design and engi- neering of every display or fixture they provide. We have been fortunate in that we have been servicing the wireless industry for decades. This has awarded us a unique per- spective of the industry as a whole. It has become second nature for me to challenge our design and engineering teams to incorporate change- ability into everything we produce and I attribute this philosophy to my exposure to the wireless and electronics markets. WW: Why is it important to embrace the 'systems approach' in store refreshes and updates? DS: As a retailer, your SKUs are con- stantly in flux and it is hard enough to keep up with the latest models, so why complicate the process with needing to manage the change out of the outdated displays with completely new units. Refreshes need to be simple and should not require you to scrap the old unit and increase the waste associated with retail. Adding to that point, it is essential that the system you choose coincides with your brand and marketing strategies. You should not have to sac- rifice the look and feel of your store or display by adding the flexibility of change. This is another key aspect of what we demand of our team. Always consider the overall appearance of the display and ensure that it will be a positive experience for the customer. WW: How does this strategy help the environment and save money? DS: In reusing the primary frame and structure, you greatly reduce the amount of waste and resources that go into a refresh. This also provides immense savings when updates arise. Together we can help save the planet one display at a time! For more information, go to www.walls forms.com or stop by booth #1370C. WW: Tell our readers about Comtech Telecommunications Corp. JW: Comtech develops a wide range of innovative products, systems and services for advanced communications solutions. In February 2016, we further diversified the company's portfolio and expanded our domestic and international commer- cial offerings by adding a whole new scope of market-leading products for messaging, location and deployable wire- less communications through the acquisi- tion of TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. WW: Who are Comtech's customers? JW: Comtech has always served a diverse customer base in the global commercial and government communications mar- kets, and through the TeleCommunication Systems acquisition, the company's cus- tomer base has significantly expanded and moved us into a number of new market segments. In addition to wireless carriers, enterprises and government agencies, we now also serve automotive OEMs, health- care companies, third-party developers and others. WW: You were recently named to CTIA's Board of Directors. What can you tell us about your role? JW: I'm serving on an executive com- mittee and will work closely with the organization's officers and fellow board members as an advocate for the Other Supplier members. The election process includes nomina- tions of regional carrier members. They may elect nine directors to the board, and Other Supplier members may elect eight direc- tors to the board. I represent one of the eight. I am particularly excited about CTIA's recent announcement to partner with GSMA on a new mobile industry event in the United States. The GSMA Mobile World Congress Americas will be GSMA's first large-scale U.S-based event and will be the first truly global wireless event in the Americas. WW: What are you planning to feature at CTIA Super Mobility Week? JW: CTIA Super Mobility Week is an ideal opportunity for us to showcase how Comtech is moving forward with its expanded portfolio of best-in-class solu- tions. A key area we will be focusing on this year is our location platforms and applications, and we are extremely excit- ed to showcase our new Location Studio. Leveraging more than 20 years' experience in LBS, Location Studio provides mobile carriers, applica- tion developers and enterprises with a service platform for building cloud-based, embedded and hybrid LBS applications. Equipped with the fundamental technologies for any location-intelligent application, Location Studio provides a series of SDKs designed to make it easy for devel- opers and enterprises to integrate location intelligence into a large variety of appli- cations ranging from search and naviga- tion to fleet management, fraud manage- ment for financial applications, asset tracking, workforce and family locator applications, and other IoT applications. The platform also can be used to build complete, end-to-end, indoor and outdoor LBS solutions tailored to meet the specif- ic needs of various vertical markets.
