C o n s u m e r E l e c t r o n i c s D a i l y N e w s F r i d a y, J a n u a r y 8 , 2 0 1 6 7 4 had already been doing vitals measure- ment from under the mattress for years, and both health and quantified self has been a rising trend, so creating a recovery and sleep monitor was just the right step for us. CEDN: What makes your product spe- cial? HR: First, it is our proprietary sensor technology. Even though we developed it already over 20 years ago, it is the newest on the market for dynamic ballistocardio- gram measurement. Where competition uses over 40 and even 100-year old piezoelectric technologies, our sensor material produces ballistocardiogram signal with sensitivity and quality, which are the richest details about cardiopul- monary functions. This is why scientists have been excited to do and publish over 200 scientific articles using our sensor technology for various cardiopulmonary functions researches. Because of our visionary sensor technology, Emfit QS is the most com- prehensive sleep monitor on the market in a class by itself, offering a superior amount of data including all three sleep stages (REM, deep, light), heart rate vari- ability measurement throughout the whole night, all-night heart rate and res- piratory rates along with resting heart rate and movement activity. This is why it provides more insight into sleep quali- ty, health and recovery than any other sleep monitor. Secondly, it is our product philoso- phy. We started to manufacture contact Emfit (Cont'd. from p. 1) free ballistocardiogram sensors 15 years ago. As a true pioneer in this field, our experience from customers is need for a durable but completely discreet solution fully autonomic in its operation. This became our mission and our electronics and software platform is developed accordingly. This is why we use Wi-Fi instead of Bluetooth, so there is no need to have a phone for measurement. This is why we developed our product to go under the mattress, have sturdy cabling and medical quality power supply. CEDN: What has been the best part of your startup experience? HR: Emfit QS is our internal startup. Fifteen years ago, at ground zero, we start- ed pivoting our company from a sensor material manufacturer into an innovative and disruptive healthcare technology provider. It surely has taken all our team's energy and resources during all these years. It has been very exciting to work and collaborate with many healthcare pro- fessionals, get deep into customers prob- lems, and say, live on the edge. We must thank our first customer groups – elders and people with epilepsy – for our exis- tence. Working for tens of thousands of families and care institutions has been extremely rewarding. Meeting families. Getting all the customer feedback and feel- ing that we have been needed and there is meaning for what we do. Now we are try- ing to expand our experience into helping athletes and general consumers. Sleep is after all extremely important to us all. For all their usefulness, they completely miss the mark on ergonomics and integration with the very hands required to operate them. A Texas-based startup has embarked on a journey to bridge this dysfunctional gap between mobile devices and the human hand with its line of smartphone and tablet grips affectionately named The LoveHandle ® . DMD Products, led by serial startup guru Mike Watts, believes that its line of patented universal finger- tip grips will revolutionize how people use their beloved smartphones by empowering consumers to comfortably connect these powerful devices to their fingertips. The LoveHandle – Get a Handle on the Device you Love – utilizes a 3M ® VHB™ ultra-strong adhesive to attach a soft natural rubber elastic strap and finger guide to any phone, tablet or even most cases. The result is a secure grip that not only prevents the dreaded dropped phone, but allows efficient one-hand tex- ting, steady photos (selfies optional), and effortless scrolling. Because the patented design is ultra-thin, the LoveHandle grip Handle Huge Smartphone (Cont'd. from p. 1) still allows your phone to slip into a pocket or purse with ease. Soon after initial acclimation, slip- ping your fingers through the LoveHandle band becomes as automatic as pressing the home button on your device. The reassuring confidence in the soft but secure connection to your con- stant companion offers added benefits for consumers' "on-the-go" lifestyles. Seasoned LoveHandle users will gladly demonstrate how to flip a smartphone from the standard texting position to hands-free (wearing your phone like a ring) with a simple flip of the wrist. This product feature is particularly useful if you want to grab a cup of coffee, open a door or roll your luggage through the air- port. DMD Products is launching its new LoveHandle retail program at CES 2016, complete with jazzy blister packaging and new trendy colors like gold and rose. Free samples will go to the first 5,000 attendees at booth #81131 in the Sands Expo. The new enhanced hands- free, LaserBand features 82 medical grade lasers and a unique band design, which provides a super-fast treatment of as little as 90 seconds, the fastest laser treatment for hereditary hair loss avail- able. With just three treatments per week, users can experience significant new hair growth, reversal of the hair thinning process, increased density and fullness and healthier, more manageable hair. CEDN: We understand you collaborated with famous design house Pininfarina on the design? DM: Yes, we are very proud of our col- laboration with premier Italian design firm, Pininfarina. They are world renowned for raising the bar in the field of design, including automobiles, con- sumer products and architecture. They understood our vision in creating a sleek, modern design for our next generation home use laser devices. They have suc- ceeded in making our vision a reality. CEDN: Are there any clinical studies that validate its efficacy? DM: There have been seven clinical studies with 460 men and women. All of these studies have proven HairMax lasers are both safe and effective. In fact, HairMax laser devices are the only laser hair loss devices on the market with study results published in six peer reviewed medical journals. CEDN: What about FDA clearances and medical device licenses? DM: We embarked on an extensive research program designed to receive FDA clearances as medical devices, not simply cosmetic ones. We didn't stop with just one FDA clearance; HairMax Laser devices have been granted an unprecedented total of seven FDA Clearances and 13 medical device licens- es to date. CEDN: What led you to develop a home Lexington International (Cont'd. from p. 1) use laser device for hair loss? DM: Years ago, I started to experience excessive hair loss. I had tried everything that was available at the time. Nothing worked. Then I heard about laser photo- therapy, a safe and effective therapy to treat hair loss without any reported side effects. Soon after, I started laser treat- ments at the Sydney Hair Clinic, in Australia. My hair became thicker and fuller, my hair loss subsided and I re-grew a significant amount of hair. I was so amazed at the results that I began a rela- tionship with the founder of the Clinic, who was a pioneer in the use of laser photo-therapy for hair. We joined efforts to develop a prototype of an affordable home-use laser medical photo-therapy device so everyone could experience the same exciting results that I had experi- enced. After a year of research, design and development, our efforts resulted in the original HairMax LaserComb and has progressed to our brand new launch, the hands-free LaserBand 82. CEDN: Can you explain the patented feature of your devices? DM: A very important feature, exclusive to HairMax laser devices are the patented hair parting teeth mechanism. Hair is designed by nature as a photo protectant; its purpose is to help block sunlight from the scalp. The "teeth" on HairMax lasers part the hair to help deliver the maximum amount of light energy to the follicles for optimal results. CEDN: What makes the HairMax a leader in laser treatments for hair loss? DM: We manufacture a variety of laser devices at price points for every budget. We also continue to innovate with a full line of hair care products, such as sham- poo, scalp treatments, dietary supple- ments and FDA approved hair regrowth topical treatments targeted to support healthy hair growth.
