After leaving the driveway to conquer the rest of the world, the ques- tion arises: "Did I close the garage door?" With Asante products, you'll never have to drive back to check. The global leader of network switch- ing since 1988, Asante products integrate sophisticated technology with everyday dilemmas, streamlining life's chaos so that you don't have to worry about the security of your household. The Asante Smoke Detector Kit remotely alerts users during a fire hazard, in addition to the traditional alarm. Users can also create a separate account for family and trusted friends so loved ones are prepared to help in the case of an emergency. Asante also provides the best remote irrigation controllers on the market. The Asante Irrigation Controller Kit's sophis- ticated customization functions allow users to manage multiple landscape zones and pre-designate seasonal irriga- tion programs. The Smart Weather Forecast checks the probability of precip- itation in users' areas and adjust the con- troller accordingly. Your landscape will always be taken care of, even if you're out of the country. With the Asante Garage Door Opener with Camera Kit, users can view and con- trol their garage doors from a remote location. With the addition of an optional Garage Door Sensor, users can receive unlimited notifications if the sta- tus of their garage door changes. This functionality is extended by infrared night vision, allowing users to monitor their garage area in the dark. Like the Smoke Detector Kit, anyone going away for a while can create a separate account for family and friends. Upon return, users can simply delete the account to remove access. All of these kits complement the Asante Home Extender. All add-on devices, such as the Irrigation Controller, Garage Door Camera and Smoke Detector communi- cate and coordinate wirelessly with the Asante Home Extender. There is no need to manual- ly configure these devices; they work in sync through a home or personal router. The Asante Home Extender was developed to simpli- fy home security for minimal installation time and maximum efficiency. All Asante products are cloud-based and require no special configuration. Cloud access is provided at no cost to the users, and there are no maintenance or recurring fees. New this year is the addition of Near-Field Communications (NFC) to select models, which allows two compat- ible devices to recognize each other and pass data when in extremely close prox- imity. Android™-based smartphones with embedded NFC can easily pair with NFC-equipped Kenwood receivers by simply touching the two devices together. Kenwood (Cont'd. from p. 1) With a late-model iPhone ® or Android-based smartphone connected via Bluetooth to the Kenwood receiver, the user now has more options to select, play and control music from the smart- phone using the receiver's controls. JD: Being in the pinball industry in itself is unique. The pinball landscape has changed dramatically through the years – from a prohibition period to surges of popularity as well as sharp declines. What makes Stern truly unique is the pin- ball machines we produce and that we have stayed consistent with our quality throughout the years. CEDN: What was your program last year? JD: Last year, Stern debuted its new SPIKE operating system technology, which reduces product complexity and simplifies manufacturing, resulting in more reliable and easier-to-service games. The new technology enables players to appreciate higher quality sound, enhanced illumination effects and a more engaging overall game experi- ence. Last year Stern debuted its new WWE Wrestlemania, which was the first pinball machine to feature the new SPIKE system. CEDN: What was the most significant event or series of events affecting your company in the past year? JD: In the last year we've had some very exciting news and events at Stern. Last year we debuted our new SPIKE technol- ogy operating system, which was the first major technology update in our machines in over 30 years. We also moved our headquarters to a larger facility in Elk Grove Village, Illinois to expand our efforts and global growth initiatives. The KISS and Game of Thrones Stern Pinball (Cont'd. from p. 1) machines have also been exciting new titles for us. CEDN: Are you introducing any new products? JD: We are introducing the Stern Spider- Man Vault Edition, which we're incredi- bly excited about. CEDN: Where is your current product emphasis? JD: We are putting a lot of focus on the new technology in our innovative operat- ing system that is being built into all of our new machines. CEDN: What products do you see as being hottest this year? JD: We're expecting to see lots of success with the upcoming Spider-Man Vault Edition and continued success with our KISS and Game of Thrones machines. CEDN: To what do you attribute your company's success? JD: We work with some of the best machine designers in the business to offer our users the most unique pinball experience possible. We also have some great partnerships that really allow us to bring Stern pinball to new audiences as well as bring new games to our exciting customers. CEDN: How can our readers find out more about your company? JD: We regularly update our site with the newest announcements and machines – they can also follow us on Twitter and Facebook!
