G a m i n g N e w s T h u r s d a y, O c t o b e r 1 , 2 0 1 5 4 CIS TECHNOLOGY'S SFMS EASILY WINS IN HEAD-TO-HEAD COMPETITION The Slot Floor Monitor System (SFMS) was the clear best-of-class winner in a recent 90-day side-by-side trial of three Slot Floor Customer Service systems at the three casinos of the Gila River Gaming Enterprises in Phoenix, Arizona. These locations undertook an intensely detailed review during a three- month period to evaluate the multiple systems from every perspective. CIS' SFMS was the obvious choice, by far; the SFMS led in every category: the company (CIS Technology) as a vendor; ease of IT setup and preparation prior to onsite training; onsite training around the clock – in the trenches with every team member, supervisor and shift man- ager; vastly superior reporting suite; handheld capability with no limitations, fully integrated with the expansive desktop PC capability; wide variety of the brand and model of handheld devices a property can use; "fluid and fluent" intuitive use by each level of team member and upper management, both on wireless devices and desktop PCs; add-on modular departmental fea- ture sets avail- able – a broad spectrum from which to choose: wireless hand- held capable, employee status and task completion, premium player (for player development staff) and patron services feature set; trial any module before having to decide to keep the product long term; very strong ROI and very low long term cost of ownership; and free upgrades and enhancements. More than 90 top tier casinos nationwide creates a very col- laborative enhancement environment. The Slot Floor Monitor System – THE TRUE POTENTIAL OF EFFECTIVE DESIGN BUILD TEAMS By Joseph J. The implementation of a design- build method of delivery can bring tremendous benefits when a complemen- tary and cooperative approach is embraced. While no team is flawless, it can be argued that an effective design- build team represents a more perfect union. It is rumored that self-taught archi- tect, Thomas Jefferson, frustrated by excessive RFIs during the construction of Monticello, crafted an Architect's Assertion of Liberation, declaring a sep- aration of design and construction that since has been captured in the spirit of our profession. Believed to be similar in structure to his far more famous work of 1776, we can imagine the Assertion maintained the following, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all archi- tects are licensed to serve clients as trusted advisors with certain creative rights including design autonomy, artistic integri- ty and the freedom to find unique solutions to pro- grammatic challenges." While this treatise likely detailed the importance of maintaining these rights, it likely ended with a rejection of the Design-Build Project delivery method as the antithesis of our moral code and a design equivalent of "taxation without representation." With or without Jefferson's docu- ment, architects have held these truths Continued on Page 45 Continued on Page 39 AN INDEPENDENT PUBLICATION NOT AFFILIATED WITH G2E Lee M.
