H o s p i t a l i t y & D e s i g n S h o w D a i l y 9 M o n d a y, J u n e 1 5 , 2 0 1 5 ARTERIORS: POISED TO MEET YOUR CUSTOM NEEDS For the last eight years, Arteriors has focused on bringing its passion for cur- rent yet timeless design, craftsmanship and attention to detail to the contract and hospitality industry. With more than 1,000 items stocked in Dallas, 500 new designs introduced every year and no MOQ, Arteriors has become a go-to resource for suites, lobbies, restaurants, retail displays and corpo- rate offices. With the recent hire of Jim Bindman, a 20-year industry veteran, Arteriors is now poised to meet your custom needs as well. The simplest modification option starts with the designs in stock, that can meet your requirements with only minor revisions. Add various bases, change switching to make the product ADA compliant, add security hardware to mirrors, change a shade, request tempered glass for table tops, etc. There are many simple adaptions that can be accomplished in the Dallas headquarters, and there are no MOQs for these modifications. Value Engineering modifications typically require a 100 piece commitment. On these projects, it helps to involve the in-house project management team at the concept stage so they can under- stand the scope of work and the budget. Arteriors is known for using luxu- rious materials, handmade shades, multi-step finishes and artisan facto- ries. Value engineering gives clients options to choose from that let them keep the look and feel they desire and still stay on budget. A VE example may take a hand- crafted item and produce a version in a factory environ- ment. VE possibilities are to substitute the handmade shade for machine made, replace solid marble with cast resin, substitute multi- step finishes with something simpler. The best part is that the same talented team that creates all those beautiful Arteriors products is also working on the VE versions. FIREWALL FOAM MAKES THE PROBLEM THE SOLUTION By Kyle Bullock, President, Preferred Finishing, Inc. Imagine an invention that is so revolu- tionary that the problem becomes the solution. Most of the people in our indus- try understand that the most flammable part of any furniture is the polyurethane foam. When foam is ignited on a piece of upholstered furniture, it quickly produces so much heat and smoke that occupants and fire fighters are fortunate if they escape alive. Preventing or delaying the ignition of the foam in furniture-related fires is key to reducing fatalities. If "flash over" does not occur as quickly and harmful combustion gases are reduced, we have improvements in the fire safety. Imagine that we can greatly reduce the chances that the polyurethane foam will ignite from a cigarette or small flame source. Small fires will not become large fires as quickly, or perhaps not at all. Traditional FR polyurethane foams have several deficiencies. They are often uncomfortable and fatigue quickly. They often contain brominat- ed or chlorinated flame retardants with toxicity and bio accumulation issues. Some FR foams simply melt into liquid pools of polymer and generate large volumes of smoke when they come into contact with fire. Firewall foam does not melt like tra- ditional polyurethane foams. It does not support combustion and produces almost no smoke. Firewall foam contains no ingredients listed on California proposi- tion 65 nor any halogenat- ed flame retardants. Firewall foam is available in roll form, either with or without sup- porting scrims. This is ideal to cover many areas of upholstered furniture where conventional foams are needed anyway. Firewall foam becomes the fire barrier interliner in those applications. Known for being a driv- ing force in the wallcovering industry, in recent years it has become a rising star in the fabric market. From durable contract vinyl wall- coverings to ornate handcrafted designs to on-trend textiles, D.L. Notable national brands like Lanark, Versa and Source One have become go-to collections in the mar- ketplace, combining design with dura- bility. In additional to the strong product portfolio, D.L. Couch is proud to announce the release of its state of the art Product Visualizer, a program that allows users to select D.L. Couch wall- coverings and fabrics and input them into one of seven different room set- tings. As one of the firsts of its kind in the industry, the tool allows users to select from more than 3,000 products and transfer them into a room setting, resulting in realistic, full-repeat views of the products. Once complete, users can save, share or print their designs. "We are excited to be on the forefront of creat- ing a realistic visualizer application which show- cases both our wallcover- ing and fabric together. We realize how important it is for designers to be able to execute and share their vision, and hope that the Product Visualizer can assist in those creations. Technology is changing fast and we strive to stay on the front end of that change," said Dennis Couch, President of D.L. Couch. With its point and click technolo- gy, the Product Visualizer is a user friendly, no mapping tool, allowing users to easily select products and place onto walls and furni- ture. The result is a finished, designed space, complete with light and shadows. Currently, the D.L. Couch Product Visualizer offers wallcovering selec- tions from the Lanark collec- tion, six Source One collec- tions and the Source One upholstery collection, with aggressive plans to add new product and room set- tings over the next few months.
