H a rd wa re & H o u s e wa re s Re vi e w Th u r s d a y, M a y 8 , 2 0 1 4 2 8 available, they exhaust themselves to death trying to escape the fumes of Nature-Cide. It's as simple as that! Nature-Cide Founder Matthew Mills stated, "The essential oils in our Nature- Cide products are designed to break down protein when they come in contact with a vast variety of insects. Insects like bed bugs, lice, scabies, mites, ants, fleas and cockroaches are all made up of protein, so when the essential oils in our Nature-Cide product comes in contact with the insect, it rapidly affects the exoskeleton of the bug by reacting with the protein. This results in premature shedding of its exoskeleton (molting, shedding its outer skin) resulting in death." Although Nature-Cide products kill most insects, the effectiveness on rodents and reptiles may not be as drastic. When using Nature-Cide products as directed, most rodents and reptiles will become disori- ented and will immediately avoid the treated area. The fumes of Nature-Cide affect rodents and reptiles similarly to a person being over- whelmed by ammonia or swimming pool acid fumes. It becomes very hard to breathe, and you immediately leave the affected area seeking fresh air. So if you are using baits and traps to attract more pests to kill, stop and use Nature-Cide and rid your home of the pests you already have. If bed bugs, ants, fleas and other pests are invading your home, Nature-Cide will eliminate and drive them out in a hurry. Sometimes nature needs a little science. Visit Nature-Cide at booth 11567. NATURE-CIDE: THE NEW STANDARD FOR PEST CONTROL AND MANAGEMENT Nature-Cide is an insect, rodent and rep- tile pest management service that uses a highly effective 100 percent natural insec- ticide/pesticide and repellent product line. Nature-Cide is the poison-free way to rid yourself and your family from all types of pests, which include bed bugs, fleas, ticks, ants, cockroaches, mosquitoes and a variety of reptiles and rodents. Nature- Cide has proven to be an alternative to poisonous pesticides and insecticides which can have harmful effects. In response to known health hazards, public outcry and consumer demand, the use of dangerous chemicals and other poisons is simply no longer tolerable in today's society. "Chemical and Poison Free" has rapidly become the standard by which all future industry products will be measured, and traditional pest-control strategies will become ancient history. Nature-Cide is an effective chemical and poison free insecticide/pesticide and repellent product that has been tested around the world. It has been proven to kill and repel a multitude of different pests and is safe for all environments. How It Works All insects breathe through their bodies. When they are exposed to the fumes of Nature-Cide's unique formulation, they are quickly overwhelmed and their men- tal capacities are impaired. If no escape is BLOXYGEN FINISH PRESERVER IS GREEN GAS Bloxygen (for blocks oxygen) is a finish preserver. This product uses heavy, inert gas to shield leftover finishes so they won't gel or skin over during storage. It can be used to protect any leftovers that are sensitive to oxygen or moisture. The reason that retailers should sell it: we are all in the business of cultivating happy customers. By bringing this solu- tion to your customers, you build trust and create value. Suddenly, the finishes on your shelves are worth more because the customers know they will not be wasted or ruined. Being the person that brought the Bloxygen solution to your customer, they will trust your next sug- gestion even more. Often, however, the company hears from some salesmen and even from some business leaders that Bloxygen should not be sold because it will result in the sale of less paint. Contemplating this for the last few years, Bloxygen has come to the conclusion that this attitude is an artifact of our disposable, American culture. Thankfully, Bloxygen also feels that this thinking is waning and being replaced by more sustainable, responsible behaviors. We've all seen the changes in recycling, the treatment of hazardous waste, and in controlling our energy use. These and other changes have been changes for the better, reduc- ing waste and diminishing our reliance on foreign products. People have seen what can happen if we are careless, and now many have decided to take care of our planet and protect our air, water and food when possible. We all like to hit our sales numbers, but at what cost? Green is good. Lots of products talk green. Bloxygen would like to argue that nothing is greener than its product. Bloxygen is "borrowing" argon from our atmosphere and simply returning it a little bit at a time. No pro- pellants, CFCs or any other chemicals are used. All compo- nents are made right here in the U.S.A. and Bloxygen uses a small factory run by honest Wisconsin men to assemble its product. Once your Bloxygen can is empty, the plastic and steel can be completely recy- cled. The net result is that our landfills see less waste and people get to do more with the chemicals that they pur- chase. Best of all, they save money and time while doing it. While Bloxygen has been sold here in the U.S.A. for years, the company's recent work outside the U.S. has revealed a heavy demand from foreign friends. This helps America and it helps our planet. Bloxygen is now selling in Australia, Québec, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador. Bloxygen has an exclusive vendor now for Albania, Andorra, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France (mainland), Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom and Vatican City. Bloxygen recommends that their product be sold as an add-on/up-sell to any oil based or moisture sensitive finish sale. Simply telling consumers they can 'use every drop' and handing them the can (which feels empty) will begin a con- versation. Visit Bloxygen at booth 2052. For more information, go to www.bloxygen.com, email IronWood.Designs@pobox.com or call 888-810-8311. At the show, buy three cases and get four cases, a starter kit, plus free shipping. DUMOND INTRODUCES TEST PATCH KIT FOR OPTIMAL PAINT REMOVAL An interview with John J. Petroci III, President and CEO, Dumond Chemicals, Inc. HHR: What are some misconceptions about paint strippers that you would like to clear up? Also, what are the key pieces of knowledge that retailers should have about paint strippers and their use? How can retailers communicate this informa- tion to end users? JP: "Paint removal becomes more often an art as opposed to a science." Meaning, every paint removal project has its own unique coatings history and jobsite challenges. However, the opti- mal paint remover and method to over- come those challenges can be easily determined by conducting "test patches" prior to estimating and starting a proj- ect. An example would be not knowing the coatings history of a 175 year old building. Not knowing the coating sys- tems utilized during years past requires "test patches" be applied to identify the optimal removal system for an array of substrates. Once the testing is complet- ed, the end-user (DIY, professional, industrial) clearly understands the removal process, and both material and labor cost associated with the project are easily determined. Furthermore, dwell times for the specific project are con- cluded, meaning Peel Away ® 1 Heavy- Duty Paint Remover can safely remove 30 plus coats of paint in a single appli- cation within a predetermined time frame. This is critical information that is needed throughout all phases of the project that includes planning, estimat- ing and managing the project once the work begins. Therefore, we have introduced the complete "Test Patch" Kit with every- thing necessary to accomplish this task with minimal effort and maximum results. This kit includes eight ounce sizes of Peel Away 1 Heavy- Duty Paint Remover, Peel Away 7 Solvent-Based Paint Remover, Smart Strip Advanced Paint Remover and Smart Strip PRO along with everything necessary to com- plete a successful "test patch." Architects and professional painting contractors are being challenged to remove past painting systems to unveil the substrate's beauty and luster, particu- larly wood and masonry. Irreplaceable painted wood substrates are having pig- mented coatings removed and enhanced through stains and clear coatings. Masonry substrates are having the coat- ings removed for safety, needed repairs, surface preparation and "aesthetics." The trend today is not to demolish a historic structure, but rather to restore and trans- form the property into viable space, such as residential housing and lofts, retail outlets, restaurants, hospitality and com- mercial property management. Dormant towns and cities across the country are being developed into charming commu- nities, highlighting both natural appear- ances of the building materials originally utilized and workmanship of our forefathers. "Green" paint removers offer tremendous growth potential for the paint and decorating retailer. Some mar- kets are more opportune than others, especially older and mature markets influenced by historic preservation. However, the need to solve and address an existing paint failure or achieve proper surface preparation prior to painting presents a sales opportunity for every paint retailer, within all cus- tomer segments. The new "Test Patch" Kit ensures the desired outcome is effectively achieved and the project deemed suc- cessful for everyone, including the paint retailer supplying the materials. Headquartered in Pennsylvania, Dumond products are available through a nationwide and international network of distributors. For additional informa- tion, contact John J. Petroci III at 800- 245-1191 or visit www.dumondchemi- cals.com. You can also find him and Dumond representatives at booth 5232.
