H a rd wa re & H o u s e wa re s Re vi e w 3 7 Tu e s d a y, M a y 6 , 2 0 1 4 Extra-Large Folding Island" comes with two shelves and is made entirely of solid hardwood. The new cart comes in two colors: Natural and Walnut. The size when opened is 40 inches wide by 24 inches deep by 36 inches high. "Many customers requested a larg- er foldable island with style and con- venience; therefore, we introduced this extra-large island with a stylish par- quet butcher-block design top. It almost doubles the surface area com- pared to older models," said Kelvin Ng, President of Oasis Concepts, "however, it still comes fully assem- bled, folds up to a very slim shape for easy storage, and it opens and closes easily using the same unique folding mechanism. "The 40 inch by 24 inch table top provides a huge work surface that is usu- ally not available in foldable carts. Together with the two shelves, which are almost as big as the table top, it offers more than 18 square feet of work and storage surface space. "The most amazing part about this folding design is that the shelves fold and completely disappear between the four legs. With the table top folded, the thick- ness of the collapsed island is only 5½ inches, which means it can be stored eas- ily anywhere in the house. "Another unique characteristic of this island is its parquet styled hard- wood table top. It is seldom that any manufacturer does it the way we do ours. It involves a labor intensive Oasis Concepts ( Cont'd. from p. 1) process that requires accurate cutting, sanding, grain matching, assembly, glu- ing, clamping, more sanding, followed by two layers of coating plus more sanding and final polishing. This painstaking process is difficult and time consuming, but it produces such an exquisite parquet butcher-block design top that it is rarely matched by other suppliers in the market, and it is greatly appreciated by our customers. "The 2½ inch industrial-grade lockable castors permit easy mobility. Roll it out any time for food prepara- tion and serving, laundry, crafting, out- door barbecue and many other uses such as setting up computers and print- ers in home offices, or TVs and audio visual equipment in your living room," Ng added. "It can be highly mobile, but locked down if necessary for different applications. It is invaluable especially during the holiday seasons. "For people with small kitchens, it offers extra counter space and storage space without costly kitchen remodel- ing," said Ng. "Many customers have told us they leave it in the kitchen per- manently with microwave ovens, food mixers, and other appliances on it. They never fold it up because it is being used all the time, plus it is indeed a high quality, nice looking piece of furniture." Visit Oasis Concepts at booth NEW29. The most unique technology is our focusing optics, which include three distinct styles for specific applications. Pure Beam Focusing Optic, designed for enhanced field of view – this optic gives our largest, Ultra View Flood Beam and our Bulls-Eye Spot Beam with transition halo. The Bulls-Eye Spot Beam provides a beam distance up to 915 feet, and the Ultra View Flood Beam provides a con- sistent circle of light up to 11 ½ feet in a diameter at a distance of 6 feet. Long Range Focusing Optic is designed for enhanced distance. This optic gives our longest distance X-Range Spot beam and our Broad View Flood Beam. The X- Range Spot Beam provides good a beam distance up to 2250 feet, and the Broad View Flood Beam provides a consistent circle of light up to 7 ½ feet in diameter at a distance of 6 feet. Universal Focusing Optic is designed to fit in our smallest focusing lights and provides a very broad, consistent flood beam and a long distance spot beam. The Max View Flood Beam provides a very consistent circle of light up to 8 feet in diameter at a distance of 6 feet, and a long distance spot beam which provides good viewing up to 275 feet. HHR: Are you introducing any new products? COAST Prodcuts ( Cont'd. from p. 1) DB: At the National Hardware Show, COAST will be introducing the new POLYSTEEL line of flashlights. The three models in this line incorporate the COAST Pure Beam Focusing Optic into an all-new polymer body that is molded around a stainless steel core. The POLY- STEEL casing gives you a flashlight that is lightweight, yet is ultra-durable and waterproof, making it the perfect light for tough environments such as outdoor work sites. HHR: What products do you see as being hottest this year? DB: We expect the POLYSTEEL line to do very well for us this year, as well as our new A8R small rechargeable inspection light. We are also seeing great success with our Flex Charge Dual Power line of rechargeable flash- lights, which were introduced to the hardware market at the 2013 National Hardware Show. HHR: What is your outlook in general for this product line? DB: We feel that the combination of COAST's optical technology and the durability of POLYSTEEL will fill a need in the market that has not been addressed before. Customers want a light that performs the task they need with a quality beam, but is also super durable and reliable. HHR: To what do you attribute your company's success? DB: COAST's success can be attributed to constantly innovating and evolving our product line to make our products more useful to the end user. That is where the chef side comes into play. Cooking on the back patio is a large part of American culture that has been on the rise since barbecue grills hit the market shortly after World War II. Today, almost every home has a bar- becue grill; however, dried chicken or burned steaks aren't always the most satisfying, and sometimes the chef is not at fault. It's the grill. Camp Chef makes outdoor cook- ing easy, turning any average Joe into an outdoor chef, right on the back patio. Let's start with the new Pellet Grill & Smoker (MSRP $834). Pellet grills are a hot topic in the outdoor cooking indus- try, for one main reason. They are easy to use. Engineers at Camp Chef added sev- eral new features that simplify the process of smoking by eliminating annoying issues that are often associated with low and slow barbecue. First, the Pellet Grill & Smoker has automatic digital controls that maintain consistent cooking tempera- tures over long periods of time. Second, the standard dual temperature probes monitor smoke chamber and internal food temperatures so backyard chefs can cook to perfection every Camp Chef ( Cont'd. from p. 1) time. And third, the cleaning is simple. No more mess taking apart the insides to clean the firepot, because Camp Chef 's Pellet Grill & Smoker has a simple cleanout system that leaves it ready for the next barbecue. However, smoked foods aren't the only flavors at a Camp Chef get- together. The innovative Italia Artisan Pizza Oven (MSRP $400) cooks like a wood-fired oven, making it very versa- tile and fun to use. This oven is spe- cially designed to give people brick oven tastes without the fuss or the heavy price tag of a traditional brick oven. It heats to appropriate cooking temperatures easily exceeding 650 degrees Fahrenheit in just 15 minutes, and cooks artisan style pizzas in about 3-5 minutes. But entrees don't need to be limited to pizzas. Other possibilities include breads, meats and desserts. The Italia Pizza series also includes grill top oven accessories, turning a grill or Camp Chef stove into a pizza oven, and a pizza kit that includes two pizza peels, a spatula, a cutter and an infrared thermometer. Each accessory plays a vital role in making pizza. When it comes to outdoor cooking, Camp Chef is a company that is continu- ally thinking of it all – not just the camp- ing crowd, but the patio crowd, too.
