Bro a d c a s te r s S h o w D a i l y 4 7 M o n d a y, A p ri l 7 , 2 0 1 4 cost-effective, high-quality solutions that are customized to fit our customers' busi- ness application needs. Another unique feature is our in- house design and development structur- ing. Our products are based on special- ized hardware technology that is devel- oped by our engineers, and the manufac- turing is done entirely by Blonder Tongue, meaning the design, support and future enhancements are all under our control. Other low-cost competitor solu- tions are based upon off-the-shelf, third- party hardware, resulting in constantly changing hardware and inconsistent interfaces and reliability. We are a rock-solid company. Founded in 1950 and headquartered in the NY Metro area where our R&D and man- ufacturing facility is located, our support team provides one-on-one attention from all facets of customer service, from sales to engineering and field services. BSD: Describe your current marketing strategy. JS: We strive to provide solutions that support all industry applications. For close to 65 years now, Blonder Tongue has cus- tomized application solutions for the cable industry, meeting the specific needs for all types of business applications, not only in broadcast in-house distribution, but hospi- tality, education, healthcare, government, sports, entertainment and corporate envi- ronments. We also pride ourselves on the knowledge and experience we have obtained over the years. Using that expert- ise, we recently developed a library of video reference tools that are designed to help our customers understand technolo- gies in the cable television marketplace. These videos are posted on YouTube and our website. BSD: Are you introducing any new prod- ucts? JS: At NAB we're introducing two key new products to our product offering. First, just released, is the AQT8 Series Transcoder, providing channel process- ing in a high density, low cost, flexible 1RU unit that reduces equipment, space and the power needed for QAM or IPTV in-house distribution. The AQT8 inputs eight 8VSB digital off-air and/or QAM signals, and outputs both in IP and QAM simultaneously for maximum flexibility Blonder Tongue ( Cont'd. from p. 1) in selecting what channels to cherry pick and how to distribute them. The interac- tive dashboard provides performance sta- tus of all eight channels in one web page for easy setup and management. Second, coming soon, is the HDE- 4S-PRO, a complement to our popular Standard HDE-4S-QAM. The HDE-4S- PRO has superior motion optimization for 'PRO SPORT' applications that demand fast motion, real-time, live encoding of camera feeds. In addition to the enhanced motion estimation for HD-SDI inputs, the PRO includes an HD-SDI spare and mon- itoring points for every input that assist in a critical real-time environment. The Standard HDE-4S-QAM, at a new reduced price, is well suited for content with less rigorous motion [like news or movies], component inputs or computer generated static imagery. BSD: Where is your current product emphasis? JS: We are focused on developing high- quality, cost-effective encoders, transcoders and EdgeQAM/IP equip- ment. Our mission is to listen to our cus- tomers and provide sensible solutions to suit their needs. The AQT8 and HDE-4S- PRO are perfect examples that allow sys- tem operators to create custom-made channel lineups of HDTV programs for in-house distribution. BSD: What distinguishes your products from the competition? JS: What sets us apart from the competi- tion is the ability to deliver superior qual- ity and reliability. Our products provide a consistent performance without compro- mising on video quality. BSD: How do you see next year in terms of economy, sales, technology and prod- uct evolution? JS: The pace with which technology advances these days is thrilling. The industry is already transitioning toward all-digital networks, and I believe it will continue to do so. BT will continue to evolve with technology by developing innovative solutions for our existing and new customer base. Since the breakthrough of the LEMO push-pull technology in 1957, LEMO has led to growth throughout Europe and the USA. LEMO USA began in 1967 in northern California, and has since developed over 65,000 products used in applications from satellites to medical emergency rooms. LEMO connectors are designed for long-lasting operation and maxi- mum interconnect stability in even the harshest environments. The LEMO 3K.93C SMPTE hybrid connector has a compact design with two single- mode fiber contacts, two power con- tacts and two signal contacts for HD camera interconnection systems. The LEMO 3K.93C is one of the only con- nectors that is fully AINSI/SMPTE (USA), ARIB (Japan) and EBU (Europe) compliant. LEMO also provides connectors for the new emerging HD cinematography market. LEMO works closely with the OEM camera manufacturers around the world and has a very strong reputation on the design and integration of the general LEMO ( Cont'd. from p. 1) purpose camera connectors for applica- tions such as camera power, view finders, motor controls and many more camera accessories. LEMO continues to connect with these customers to provide them with custom connections to meet their specif- ic requirements. LEMO feels that making the customer connection is just as impor- tant as the connections for its customers' end products. This year at NAB, LEMO will be demonstrating a wide variety of electrical and fiber optic connector solutions for in- studio, outdoor harsh environments and audio visual connectors for microphones and hearing devices. To complete the connection solution, LEMO also offers value added solutions such as cable assembly services, fiber optic kits for cleaning and inspection of the fiber con- nection systems, fusion splicing and media converters. EDEN PARK ILLUMINATIONS ANNOUNCES STUDIO 3000 FLAT PLASMA LIGHT By Marty Dugan, VP Marketing and Product Management, Eden Park Illumination, Inc. Eden Park Illumination is a fast growing, dynamic lighting technology company, anchored in over 50 years of heritage through our affiliation with the Laboratory of Optical Physics and Engineering at the University of Illinois. I am excited to announce the avail- ability of the long awaited Studio 3000 Flat Plasma Light from Eden Park. The team here at Eden Park Illumination are leaders in the areas of lighting research, product development and commercial- ization of the "Microplasma" technology. Our focus is to bring microplasma light- ing to the video and photography produc- tion industry. Wherever high quality, uni- form lighting is needed and a thin profile is preferred, microplasma lighting is an ideal choice. Eden Park Illumination has developed over 25 patents on this groundbreaking advancement in lighting, and we are now bringing it to the broad- cast and video market. The Studio 3000 Flat Plasma Light produces a high quality, uniform light [CRI 90] in thin panels that are easier to store, transport and set up than tradition- al studio lights. This plasma light pro- duces high-output, diffuse, no-glare lighting in a thin, mountable fixture for video, photography or cinematography applications. Unlike common LED light- ing units, this new flat panel technology has extremely stable color temperature and is easy to look at without adding dif- fusers or chimeras. It is housed in a rugged fixture designed specifically for the video and photography market, and as a bonus, the Studio 3000 is more envi- ronmentally friendly than traditional lamps, using no mercury or lead in the product. The light is mountable on stan- dard C-stands or other studio lighting fixtures, and is designed for indoor and outdoor use. Whether it's true color ren- dering on faces, shadow reduction or compatibility with high speed cameras, the Studio 3000 lamp from Eden Park Illumination is an excellent choice. The lamp is now for sale online at www.edenpark.com and through video/photography lighting distributors around the world. It is available in day- light and tungsten versions. The team at Eden Park Illumination is committed to developing earth-friend- ly products and supports actions and decisions that positively impact the sus- tainability of the environment. AURANOVA: THE BLUETOOTH NECKLACE HEADSET FOR WOMEN Too Much Innovation (TMI) has devel- oped a Bluetooth necklace unlike any other. With new vehicular safety restric- tions on mobile devices, Bluetooth acces- sories are becoming a necessity. However, Bluetooth built into cars offers no phone privacy, and other headsets interfere with a woman's fashion and comfort. TMI aimed to solve these problems by completely rethinking the design of headsets. After many hours of development, it designed AURANOVA, the customizable Bluetooth necklace that is beautiful enough to be sold in a jewelry store. AURANOVA has inter- changeable faceplates, currently including the Versatile Model as well as an SW Model with Swarovski Elements. Such flexibility allows the necklace to never be out of style and adapt to trends over time. TMI plans on partnering with major fash- ion companies to expand the possibilities of AURANOVA even further. AURANOVA's demand is proven, as it made over $56,000 in limited time pre- order sales within just two months. The sales were simply from women who are sick of their headsets or see them as too troublesome to even bother. With AURA- NOVA, they cannot get over how beauti- ful, functional and customizable it is while also removing all the problems other head- sets impose. Because all the weight is located on the neck, the users do not expe- rience any soreness even after hours of use.
