Bro a d c a s te r s S h o w D a i l y M o n d a y, A p ri l 7 , 2 0 1 4 4 2 SKB has invested in new machinery to produce new cases sizes that were not possible in the past. The three new sizes – 3i-4213-12 (42" x 13" x 12"), 3i-3021- 18 (30" x 21" x 18") and 3i-3026-15 (30" x 25" x 15") – are manufactured in a new injection mold machine that can handle molds weighing up to 20 tons each. With 31 sizes currently available and more in development, the USA-made iSeries waterproof injection molded case line provides a perfect transport solution for a variety of products. At NAB 2014, SKB expands the semi- custom iSeries cases that are specific to the pro video and broadcast markets. Utilizing various iSeries case sizes and custom foam interiors developed with the SKB water-jet cutting system, rental and production com- panies will find just the right case for their needs. New cases are available for the Sony 4K FDR-AX1 (3i-201510AX1), the Sony PMWF5/F55 (3i-201510F5) as well as the Canon C300/C500 (3i-20118C300). Understanding the need to protect multiple cinema lenses, SKB developed a carry-on sized case that holds eight cinema lenses (3i-20118LENS). iSeries cases are also available with pick-and-pluck foam, layered foam or gray padded dividers which can be configured in a number of ways and provide for high contrast against the contents. In addition to the watertight, injec- tion mold line of cases, SKB has expanded the video tripod case line. The roto-molded 1SKB-R3709W (37" x 9") and the 1SKB-R4209W (42" x 9") cases are ideal for protecting pro video tripods in transit. All SKB cases are covered by SKB's unsurpassed no-fault Million Mile Guaranty™ (Lifetime Warranty). For custom case development news, go to skbcases.com. All of these models, along with SKB rack and stand cases will be featured at the NAB 2014 SKB Corporation booth #C3237. For more information, visit www .skbcases.com or stop by booth #C2327. VISION RESEARCH FEATURING NEW CAMERA AT SHOW An interview with Kevin Gann, Director of R&D, Vision Research. BSD: Tell our readers about your compa- ny and your role there. KG: Vision Research designs and manu- factures Phantom high-speed cameras. Many don't realize that we have been in the high speed imaging industry for more than 60 years. Our cameras are used in a variety of scientific, industrial and mili- tary applications for motion analysis, and also in the TV and motion picture indus- tries, primarily for slow motion replays and special effects. As the director of R&D at Vision Research, I oversee engi- neering efforts and the development of new products. BSD: Tell us about new products that you are introducing at the show. KG: We are featuring the Phantom Flex4K, our new professional cinema camera that is designed to record at both standard and high frame rates. At 4K res- olution, it can record up-to 1,000 frames- per-second [fps], up to 2,000 fps at 1080p resolution and even faster when win- dowed down further. The custom super- 35mm sensor has a maximum resolution of 4096 x 2304 and provides outstanding image quality. The Phantom Flex4K is a complete- ly self-contained camera system, which can be set up and controlled via the intu- itive on-camera control interface. It sup- ports both uncompressed raw recording, a multi-channel video workflow and will soon offer in-camera compres- sion. Some other features that make this camera extremely versatile include an optional built-in battery mount, interchangeable lens mounts and it has all the inputs and outputs needed for a successful production. BSD: Where is your current product emphasis, and what's next? KG: There are some exciting new fea- tures coming for the Flex4K, such as in- camera compression and audio, as well as features geared at sports broadcast applications. Our engineers are busy rolling out those updates, as well as put- ting attention on our industrial products such as the new V2010 – a camera that records over 22,000 fps at 720p resolu- tion. Vision Research is dedicated to staying on the leading edge of technology across all markets and our upcoming products will be sure to reflect that. BSD: How can our readers find out more about your company? KG: Visit us at booth #C9031 at NAB for a close look at the new Phantom Flex4K, as well as some of our other products like the original Flex, the com- pact Phantom Miro LC320S and our sports broadcast Phantom V642 cam- era.
