F o o d E q u i p m e n t N e w s 6 9 S a t u r d a y, F e b r u a r y 9 , 2 0 1 3 LJ: Amerex Corporation is the leading manufacturer of fire extinguishers and auto- matic fire suppression systems for high risk and high value hazards. We have been in business for more than 40 years and have been manufacturing restaurant fire suppres- sion systems since 1995. We pride ourselves in having the best customer service and delivery in the business. We chose a dia- mond for our logo as a symbol of our dedi- cation to making only the absolute finest products. We have to – we protect lives and property with what we make. "Quality is Behind the Diamond." FEN: What is your main focus of business at the NAFEM show? LJ: We want to highlight our KP – appli- ance specific system and Zone Defense – zone coverage system. Our fire suppression systems are listed with Underwriter's Laboratories per the stringent UL-300 fire test specifications. FEN: What makes your company unique? LJ: Amerex is recognized as the new leader in the fire protection industry. Our innova- tive Zone Defense System allows owners to rearrange cooking appliances without wor- Amerex Corporation Con't. from p. 1) rying about affecting the arrangement of the fire system nozzles – an industry first. We also pioneered the Wet Chemical Hand Portable Extinguisher for Class K fires – fires that involve cooking oil such as in deep fat fryer fires. FEN: What makes your system stand out from the competition? LJ: The Amerex systems have more design options available allowing a tailor fit for any kitchen appliance layout. You can choose from three different types of detection (fusible links, linear fusible links and pneu- matic tubing). We are listed with all major manufactures of gas shut off valves. We offer four different sizes of agent cylinders and higher discharge nozzle heights and more flow points per agent cylinder. FEN: How can our readers find out more about Amerex Systems? LJ: They can contact Amerex on the web at www.amerex-fire.com or directly at Amerex Corporation, 7595 Gadsden Highway, Trussville, AL 35173; Phone 205- 655-3271 Fax 205-655-3279. Michael Coyle, Bally President, noted that the variable speed EC motors that aid in minimizing noise levels also create speed reductions that result in energy sav- ings for you. Head pressure and stable liq- uid temperature to the Thermal Expansion Valve is maintained to ensure optimal performances. The unit's effi- ciency is further increased by adjustable head pressure set points and enhanced tube and fin condenser design utilizing swept wing fan blades that streamlines air passage. BQ Quiet Units do not contain flooded head pressure control valves; by eliminating this flooding valve the system reduces the refrigerant charge by an aver- age of 30 percent, with some models reducing the charge by 50 percent. Compare the BQ Condensing Unit to a traditional unit, the BQ Unit could save 25 percent in annual energy costs. Visit www.nroes.com/quiet/bally.aspx to cal- culate how much Bally's BQ Quiet Unit could save you! The slim cabinet of the BQ unit is Bally Refridgerated Boxes (Con't. from p. 1) constructed of heavy duty weatherproof painted metal that is designed to easily fit most applications. The optional wall mounting kit gives you the flexibility to mount the unit directly on the walk-in or closer to the walk-in and eliminate long line runs. With ten preselected factory- installed packages and the ability to deter- mine exactly the options you want, Bally's BQ-Line of Quiet Condensing Units is fully customizable to your needs. Independent laboratory testing shows the BQ-Line of Quiet Condensing Units are five times quieter compared to conven- tional style condensing units. The Bally BQ-Line of Quiet Condensing Units are available in 1-6 HP high/medium temperature (0°F to +40°F SST) R404A/R407C (75 models avail- able), 1-6 HP Low temperature (-40°F to 0°F) R404A (25 models available), low ambient operation (As low as -25°F), 208-230/1/60, 208-230/3/60 and 460/3/60. The Bally BQ Quiet Condensing Unit will be on display at the What's Hot! What's Cool!® new product gallery and at Bally's booth #3444.*For more informa- tion, check out www.ballyrefboxes.com or call 1-800-24BALLY. turing segments: exhaust systems, utility distribution systems, conveyors systems, support and POD equipment. Participants will include: architects, kitchen consult- ants, dealers and end users, but also open to anyone who is involved in the design, selection, and install of equipment. Each group will have a tailored made program designed to give the maximum knowl- edge of their area of expertise. Caddy will also work with organizations such as FCSI to award points for continuing edu- cation. Caddy's new showroom has working equipment installed with many special features to show the plethora of options available. The exhaust systems will demonstrate everything from basic baffle style to the latest in UVC and energy management exhaust. Designer hoods with architectural details, specialty light- ing, and decorative finishes will also be present. The UDS section will give the participant full understanding of the ben- efits and flexibility of incorporating a UDS into their project. The conveyor sys- tems will show both tray make up and soiled dish conveyors with focus on front service areas and back of the house sort- ing. Another exciting area will be the POD and support equipment with a fully functional room to design, configure and test the equipment. Tom Carter, Caddy's Vice President Caddy Corporation (Con't. from p. 1) of Sales, will be leading many of the sem- inars. He has more than 30 years of indus- try experience and is considered one of the country's leading experts on ventila- tion. He has even authored a book "Kitchen Ventilation Systems." Other seminars will be given by industry pro- fessionals and senior Caddy department heads. "This has been a long time coming," said Carter. "We have listened for years to our reps, dealers, and consultants that Caddy needed a place to demonstrate our equipment and teach about important sub- jects such as fire safety codes, energy management, efficiency of space, and reducing operating costs. Now we do, and the timing couldn't be more perfect. Commercial kitchen design is changing especially in the large dining and cafete- ria style segment. There is a real need for our energy efficient innovative design that not only looks good but functions." Whether you are looking for general knowledge on Caddy's equipment or you are in need of learning more about, build- ing codes and environmental regulations that govern your exhaust systems, Caddy is the place to go. FEN: What sets this blender apart from other blenders? DT: Aside from the fact that it's way quieter than any other commercial blender, the Stealth is the only one to feature a capacitive-touch control sur- face. It's quite intuitive, so the user can perform complex operations with little or no training. It features a manual speed slider for precise motor control. It's also illuminated, making it ideal for low-light environments. Another significant feature is its USB port, which makes customized programming a breeze. FEN: Why did you give the Stealth a USB port? DT: Experience has shown that there's no single blend cycle that fits every need. We program all our blenders with a number of cycles to fit multiple recipes. Even then, some customers want to customize their blend cycles. With the Stealth, they can go online, use the Blend Wizard app on our web- Blendtec (Con't. from p. 27) site to create their own blend cycles, then download them to a USB device. Then they simply plug the USB into the blender and upload the new pro- gramming. This feature is getting a lot of positive feedback – especially from large franchises that need to deploy custom menus quickly and accurately.
