CS: Comstock-Castle is the oldest stove manufacturer in the United States, perhaps the world. We have always been involved with cooking appliances from our begin- nings with wood stoves for settlers in the mid 1800s, evolving to today's gas appli- ances for the foodservice industry. Our main line of business is manufacturing gas cook- ing appliances for mid-size restaurants, pubs, concessions and food trucks. Although we are the oldest, we are still rel- atively small and little known. It is our goal to educate consumers to consider Comstock-Castle any time one would con- sider any "medium-duty" brand. FEN: What would you say makes your company unique? CS: Comstock-Castle is probably best known for uniquely combining up to four different standalone appliances. Most com- mon for us is building char-boilers into ranges with ovens. We do the same for countertop appliances. The great advantage is a reduced kitchen footprint, saving on expensive hood space. Additional cost sav- ings result from reducing the number of required gas hose connections. FEN: What distinguishes your product(s) from the competition? CS: Quality and craftsmanship. Like many leading manufacturers, we implement mod- ern technology by way of computer-aided precision machinery. However, our work- force is particularly skilled, seasoned and Comstock-Castle (Con't. from p. 1) dedicated to quality and detailed craftsman- ship. While many in our industry have been cutting costs and in many cases, producing a scaled back product, we are taking the opposite approach by endeavoring to improve the quality of our products; partic- ularly with distinguishable energy saving features. FEN: Are you introducing any new prod- ucts? CS: We plan to introduce a high-tempera- ture gas tortilla griddle for making fresh tor- tillas to serve the growing Mexican restau- rant market. We will also be showcasing some unique variations of standard prod- ucts. Although we are a factory focused on fairly standard gas appliances; we are, in essence, a sheet metal shop. We are small and nimble enough to customize our prod- ucts to meet a customer need with the likes of heavier steel gauges, reinforced welding, different steel types or even powder coated painting in a special color. FEN: To what do you attribute your com- pany's success? CS: Customer service is key. We pride our- selves in that 95 percent of the time a human being answers the telephone and can quick- ly direct you to your required department. Like our factory workforce, our staffers are also very experienced and dedicated to helping all customers with courtesy and professionalism. FEN: How can our readers find out more about your company? CS: Knowing that your readers are likely attendees, the best way for them to find out more about us is to visit our exhibit today. We are on the main, side to side aisle, in the center of the hall. Otherwise, we have a website that is easy to navigate and can quickly show detailed specifications, prices, detailed regional technical service informa- tion along with a more detailed, interesting company history. To learn more, visit booth #2635 at NAFEM. After the show, visit www.castlestove.com, call 217-223-5070 or email sales@castlestove.com for more information.
