Wednesday, April 10, 2013 Broadcasters Show Daily HIGH-TECH CONVENIENCE THROUGH VIRTUAL KEYBOARDS If you've kept an eye on the development of virtual laser keyboards (VLK), you know the advantages they offer to mobile device users who don't like small keypads or don't have space for a full-sized keyboard. But there's one problem that most VLKs create: To have them whenever you need them, you need to carry around yet another device everywhere you go. It's one more thing to remember to take with you. CTX Technologies eliminates those problems with the introduction of two innovative VLKs that offer all the bene- fits of regular VLKs without the bother of carrying another device. Like larger VLKs, CTX's VK200 Key Fob Virtual Keyboard projects a full-sized laser keyboard onto any opaque flat surface and connects wirelessly via Bluetooth to iPhones, iPads, many smartphones and most laptops. So how do you bring the VK200 along without carrying anything extra? Hook it on to your key ring. In a fine example of smart innovation, CTX wraps its VLK technology in a sturdy housing that slips onto your key ring ADAM AUDIO DEBUTS TENSOR MK2 PASSIVE SPEAKERS Following the success of ADAM Audio's critically acclaimed original TENSOR Series, the company is introducing the new TENSOR MK2 fully passive line of loudspeakers this year. Marked by a new and different approach in terms of driver technology and cabinet design along with the finest available components, the new MK2 models feature ADAM's proprietary XART tweeter to ensure the same exceptional performance as its active models. The MK2 passive models also include newly redesigned bass drivers that use an advanced honeycomb cone to provide a much higher stiffness to weight ratio and lower mechanical loss. Combined with a larger magnetic system, the bass drivers offer a 4dB improvement in efficiency. All of these elements have been combined together with new crossovers engineered to achieve the best sonic reproduction possible. Cabinet construction for TENSOR MK2 now employs a 25mm solid aircraft aluminum front plate mounted to a heav- CURTIS INTERNATIONAL OFFERS TRUSTED BRANDS AND GREAT VALUE TO THE MARKET Aaron Herzog, President and CEO of Curtis International, Ltd., talks about the exciting success of its PROSCAN line of televisions and what we have to look forward to for the new year. BSD: You've got some great new bigscreen TVs. AH: Yes. The marketplace has been extremely welcoming to our PROSCAN television line-up, and we've had a record year in 2012 and see 2013 as being another record-breaker for us as consumers look for the best value for their shopping dollar. We're really excited to be introducing the new 65-inch and 70inch models of the PROSCAN TVs here this year. BSD: The tablet market is going to be extremely competitive this year, as of course you know. Isn't it a little risky bringing another tablet into such a crowded arena? AH: Not when you have the product and price point that we're bringing to the market. We have two brands of tablets, the PROSCAN and KLU models, that will be hitting the market hard in the first quarter of 2013. These dual-core Googlecertified tablets running the Jellybean version of Android are going to start at a suggested retail price of $99 and will be available in sizes ranging from 5 to 10 inches. BSD: Well, that price point is certainly going to draw attention, especially for a dual-core processor. You have a tabletsmartphone that you're also introducing? AH: Yes, that's a dual SIM-card tabletsmartphone operating on Android that's designed to retail for $149. We expect that to make a real splash in the international market. BSD: What else are you talking about with customers today? AH: We're also solidifying our market share for DVD and portable DVD players with the Sylvania brand. And you'll also see the Bluetooth wireless sound bars that we're introducing to go along with our PROSCAN TVs. Altogether, we think our existing customers will be impressed by our broader lineup, and we're proud to introduce new customers to Curtis International. We know that today's consumers are looking for both quality and value in a brand they can trust, and we're in the best position in the marketplace to deliver that. So anywhere you take your keys, your VK200 goes too. The VK200 has impressive specs to match its portability. A 400 character-perminute detection rate means it won't slow you down and two-hours of life from its built-in, 500mAh, lithium ion battery means it won't let you down―and it recharges through any USB port. The forward-thinking features of the VK200 don't stop there. Put it into Mouse Mode and use your finger as a mouse for your device. A built-in display shows you the last three characters you typed, which makes for quick and easy editing. CTX Technologies gets even more innovative with the Smartphone Virtual Keyboard, which the company calls "a revolution in mobile input." Using proprietary technology, CTX has developed a semiconductor chip that is designed to be embedded into smartphones to allow them to project a full-sized, fully functional VLK on almost any opaque flat surface. CTX is first-to-market with the Smartphone Virtual Keyboard technology. Not only does it mean no extra devices to carry, but it will greatly improve the speed and accuracy of data entry onto smartphones to give them usability factors that are closer to a tablet or desktop computer. ily damped enclosure for maximum isolation. The damping is created using carefully designed cabinet structures and a sophisticated matte made of small cells filled with tiny steel balls similar to shot. The cabinet's heavy mass works with the energy absorption properties of the steel balls to greatly reduce unwanted sound from the cabinet. TENSOR MK2 features specially engineered machine mounts to isolate the cabinets from the floor as much as possible and further minimize vibration. The new Alpha and Beta models also use isolation mounts between the head unit and the base to increase resonance control even more. A newly redesigned active line will follow the TENSOR MK2 passive loud- speakers later in 2013. For more information on CTX Technologies visit www.ctxtechnologies.com.
