Kitchenware News & Housewares Review Show Daily Tuesday, March 17, 2020 1 8 NESCO Continues to Grow, Evolve in 2020 NESCO has been known since 1931 for the brand's wide variety of small kitchen electrics. Originally known as the creator of the Roaster Oven, today it is a big player in vacuum sealers, dehydrators and roaster ovens. A lot has changed in the 90 years since the brand's inception and NESCO is swiftly keeping up. After NESCO's parent company The Metal Ware Corporation underwent a merger in late 2016, the brand took on a facelift with a new look and feel. NESCO's tagline is Your Key Ingredient and its consumer communications and product innovations are focused on showing con- sumers how NESCO fits in as a key part of their lives. Starting from the outside, NESCO's new packaging won the 2019 American Package Design Award from Graphic Design USA. The packaging look and feel, created by NESCO's in-house mar- keting team, is centered around showing consumers not only the features of each product, but also the ways in which it can be used to create special and memo- rable meals. Working off this branding, NESCO is redesigning its marketing materials and content to follow suit. The brand redesigned its website to give users a more friendly and informative experience where consumers can find recipes, blog posts and instructions on NESCO's full line to make informed buying choices. Extending its reach into consumers' ever-growing web con- sumption, NESCO recently signed a new email marketing platform to increase engagement and build commu- nication with longtime, loyal customers through carefully segmented and target- ed sends. To build content, the brand is put- ting more emphasis on its ambassador program. Starting in 2016, NESCO teamed up with TV personality The Cooking Mom, Amy Hanten, to use NESCO products on her morning shows across the United States. Amy can also be spotted at the NESCO booth #L12702 at the show. In 2020, NESCO plans to expand its brand ambassador program, putting more emphasis on building relationships to tap into new demographics. NESCO's plans to connect with con- sumers extend past the content realm. The brand recently hired on new Product Manager Geralyn Braun to expand its line of products to fit in with the evolving modern consumer. Braun will work with domestic and global manufacturing teams to drive the brand in innovation and quality. Based on extensive and ongoing market research, NESCO will be adding to its product line based on con- sumers' anticipated demands in func- tions, features and color through both new-to-market and added-value products. For example, NESCO is adding to its market-leading line of dehydrators with a compact "junior" dehydrator that easily fits into modern, smaller living spaces, while the entire line of dehydrators includes sample packs of jerky seasoning and cure, to get users started on making their own home- made jerky. The goal is to repeatedly drive consumers back to the retailer for consumables long after the initial pur- chase is complete. While the market is constantly and consistently evolving, NESCO has been reemerging as a brand that continues to be consumers' key ingredient through its new branding and product initiatives. Viatek Blazes New Trails Chattanooga manufacturing leader Viatek Consumer Products Group, known for its cutting edge and innovative retail, TV shopping, online and catalog items, is preparing to blaze all new trails in 2020. Brought to the Chattanooga area in 2011 by Founder Lou Lentine, the company remains determined to be on the forefront of the consumer market. To better achieve this goal, Viatek has had a litany of exciting changes in recent months that pave the way for further growth in the current year. One very visible new addition to the company came in the form of a revamped look. This includes a new logo, as well as a retooled, more user- friendly website. Here, customers can more easily peruse the company's now classic products, such as the Quirky Pivot Power line of surge protectors, Night Stars landscape lighting projec- tors and Q-Beam tactical flashlights. Another change comes with the 2020 catalog, offering an exciting lineup of new products. These include the USB rechargeable Pedispa Callus Remover, Night Stars Candle Projectors, the WeedErase and new Metallic ver- sions of the Pivot Powers. These changes all coalesced around the naming of a new leader, Chad Neuendorf, who became President of Viatek in June 2019. With an exhaustive history in sales and TV shop- ping, Neuendorf brings to the company a ground floor perspective of the industry, and an eye toward the future. He takes over for Lou Lentine, who still serves as chairman while Neuendorf guides the company into new, exciting waters. These new ventures will see Viatek mov- ing into new markets both foreign and domestic, with the continued mission of meeting cus- tomers wherev- er they are to best serve their needs. With an overhauled look and improved web- site, Viatek is sure to become ubiquitous at retail and online marketplaces in 2020. The company is at the show to demonstrate not only Yedi's past success- es, but also to show what the future will hold on a global scale. Part of Yedi's decades-worth of success, according to Yedi's President, Bobby Djavaheri, is the fact that its customer satisfaction is unmatched. He adds, "We offer two-year warranties on our small appliances. Within two years of your purchase on our website, we will refund your money and/or replace your purchase if you have any issues with your purchase." Djavaheri also highlights the company's recipe booklets, and "cheat sheets" for users. Yedi's small appliances all have easy to read literature via manuals that are not only available with each prod- uct, but available online as well. For decades, he adds, the compa- ny's mission has been to provide its cus- tomers with all the accessories and resources needed in order to have the best experience using any of Yedi's products for the kitchen or the dining room.
