Consumer Electronics Daily News Tuesday, January 8, 2019 4 4 You.i TV Announces Release of You.i Engine One 4.6 Featuring Remote Asset Management You.i TV announced a new version of its You.i Engine One platform that includes remote asset management and other fea- tures that can spur faster, better and more monetizable video app experiences for media companies worldwide. Release 4.6 has been created to fur- ther increase the ability of developers and designers to build and personalize video interfaces across platforms, and to enable greater opportunities for branded content. A key new feature, Remote Assets, allows developers to configure applica- tions to retrieve all UX elements, includ- ing layout, styling and motion, dynami- cally from a server. Designers can export screen updates through the You.i Engine One After Effects Workflow and deploy changes to market without recertifica- tion. This provides brand leaders with the speed and flexibility required to deploy custom redesigns, branded moments or sponsorships consistently across all screens. In addition, source-code for flexible cross-platform app accelerators, contain- ing pre-built user flows and UX tem- plates to support SVOD, AVOD and TVE business models are readily available. Developers will now have full access to the following features: Improved flexibility for native plat- form and web user interface integrations on mobile devices. Developers can now use native platform user interface con- trols within You.i Engine One interfaces and apply decorations to augment embedded webviews, providing end users with a natural experience for embedded native widgets, such as Twitter, or web based content. The most commonly used user inter- face components have been improved to give application designers and develop- ers greater flexibility and control over app elements, including animations, focus and data modelling. A redesigned cross-platform build system that simplifies the management and inclusion of dependencies, and pro- vides developers with additional flexibil- ity to automate application pipelines and introduce more testing. Improved custom debugging tools for rendering performance, focus and layout. C++ 11 compatible libraries, giving developers more flexibility around the kinds of technologies they want to include in their application, and greater design options. "The product enhancements announced today are a direct result of intense collaboration with our customers around a shared vision of the video land- scape," says Jason Flick, Chief Executive Officer and co-Founder of You.i TV. "We're thrilled to help lay the ground- work for both app experience and busi- ness model innovation at pace." Oticon Kaizn Wins Two 2019 CES Innovation Awards Oticon Kaizn™, the world's first per- sonal AI assistant for your ears, has received a 2019 CES Best of Innovation Award in the Software and Mobile Apps category, and has been named a CES Innovation Honoree in the Tech for a Better World category. The new, AI-powered tool brings to fruition the promise of personalized, human-driven hearing healthcare for hundreds of thousands of hearing aid wearers worldwide. With Kaizn, Oticon, the same com- pany that developed Opn™, the world's first Internet-connected hearing aid, con- tinues to revolutionize hearing care and push the boundaries of hearing aid capa- bilities. Just as Spotify recommends new songs based on a user's past listening behavior, artificial intelligence built into Kaizn learns from a hearing aid wearer's listening preferences, habits and environ- ments to predict their preferences in a particular sound scenario and automati- cally adjust their hearing aid settings for an optimized listening experience. "Oticon is a pioneer in the use of artificial intelligence in the audiology sector, with a long-standing commit- ment to innovation and excellence in technology that improves hearing and overall quality of life for people with hearing loss," says Annette Mazevski, Au.D., Ph.D., Manager, Technology Assessment at Oticon, Inc. "With Kaizn, we tap the full potential of data- driven personalized hearing care, using a combination of real-time local data, aggregated 'big' data and artificial intelligence to deliver a best sound experience." Kaizn collects and analyzes data about an individual's hearing aid use and listening environments to learn their behaviors and hearing preferences, and ultimately provide real-time hear- ing aid recommendations and adjust- ments. The AI-powered tool communi- cates with hearing aid wearers at key moments to learn their "intent" or what they want to gain from different sound environments. For example, Kaizn will recognize when a hearing aid wearer enters a noisy environment, like a loud restaurant, and will contact the wearer, via a push notification, to ask whether they need "focus" or "comfort" in the scenario. Kaizn will then adjust the user's hearing aid settings to reflect that preference. Over time, Kaizn can auto- mate adaptive changes based on the user's feedback/validation and adjust the user's Opn hearing aid settings automatically when they enter similar noise environments. "Kaizn will support hearing care professionals in their efforts to engage and encourage patients to become active partners in their hearing healthcare," explains Donald Schum, Ph.D., Oticon Vice President of Audiology. "This ever expanding, ever improving AI-based solution and system will allow hearing care professionals to provide continuous added value that enables patients to opti- mize the choices they make daily that affect their hearing health and overall well-being."
