Consumer Electronics Daily News 2 1 Monday, January 7, 2019 Seal Shield Screen Protectors Endorsed by General Electric Clostridium difficile (C. diff) is bacte- ria commonly found in hospitals that transmit via touching contaminated surfaces. C. diff infection can be fatal, which is why it must be prevented at all costs. Infection prevention starts by disinfecting common touch areas, such as monitor screens. Regular methods for disinfection, such as germicidal wipes, are not recommended by elec- tronic manufacturers because they can cause damage to the device. Bleaching the monitor screen without any protec- tion leads the screen to become cloudy and discolored, sometimes making the monitor unreadable to healthcare pro- fessionals. General Electric (GE) searched for a solution to this problem, specifically for CARESCAPE BX50 monitor screens. After a thorough internal evaluation, it identified Seal Shield™ screen protectors as a solution. Seal Shield screen protectors not only have antimicrobial product protec- tion, they are also resistant to harsh chemicals and able to withstand scratches. These properties allow the monitor to be wiped down while keep- ing the screen unharmed and its users safe. Seal Shield has performed a thor- ough evaluation to devise compatible screen protectors and disinfectants to use with each GE Monitor touchscreen. Each GE Monitor touchscreen can be kept san- itary at an optimal level through the use of Seal Shield precisely cut and placed screen protectors. However, it is important to keep in mind that the issued screen protectors are verified only for the use on CARESCAPE Monitor Screens. For each monitor provided by GE, a unique Seal Screen Protector has been devised. GE CARESCAPE B450 Patient Monitor SKU: SSPGECS450 Seal Shield Seal Screen screen protector for the CARESCAPE B450 patient monitor with 12-inch display. (Dimensions: 10 inches by 8 inches) GE CARESCAPE B650 Patient Monitor SKU: SSPGECS650 Seal Shield Seal Screen screen protector for CARESCAPE B650 patient monitor with 15-inch display. (Dimensions: 12.5 inch- es by 9 inches) GE CARESCAPE B850 Patient Monitor SKU: SSPGECS850 Seal Shield Seal Screen screen protector for the CARESCAPE B850 patient monitor with 19-inch display. (Dimensions: 15 inches by 12 inches) Seal Shield screen protectors offer multiple benefits, such as: the ability for the film to withstand harsh chemicals used in medical-grade disinfectants; no effect of discoloration or "clouding;" strength to withstand scratches or other impacts; and enhanced visibility and non-interference with touchscreen functions. Wireless Mirroring for Android Devices Have you ever wanted to display your phone's screen on your in-dash car receiver? Maybe you want to enlarge the size of that video game, or simply see and hear that video with life-like sound quality? This wish now becomes a reality on a total of six new Kenwood and Kenwood eXcelon multimedia receivers with their newly added "wireless mirror- ing" source. Wireless mirroring with Miracast ® is similar to having a wireless HDMI cable (but without the mess of cables), as it completely mirrors your phone/device's screen and audio onto a secondary dis- play, with up to HD picture quality. Exactly what displays on the Android device (videos, photos, applications, home screen, etc.) displays on the Kenwood receiver, all wirelessly! Just imagine tailgating before the big game – you can see and hear the pre-game show from your Kenwood touchscreen and vehicle sound system – bringing the experience to life, not to mention being the envy of all those in sight! So how does this all work, and is your phone compatible? Compatible Android phones must feature Miracast tech- nology (most Android devices running Android OS 4.2 or higher have this) and the connection method varies by phone/device model. Phone manufactur- ers vary in how they list this support, of which the most popular connecting terms include: screen mirroring, smart view, multi-screen, wireless display, WiFi dis- play and media output. After you have followed your specific phone's instruc- tions to connect, simply select the "wire- less mirroring" source on the receiver to enjoy true screen mirroring. The wireless mirroring source icon can easily be customized to display on the receiver's home screen for ease of access. With driver safety in mind, display of the mirrored device's content is enabled on the screen only when the vehicle is parked with the parking brake engaged. Supported receivers include the Kenwood eXcelon DNX996XR, DDX9906XR, DDX8906S, DMX906S (mechless), as well as the Kenwood DDX8706S and DMX9706S (mechless). For more information, stop by booth #4602 in the North Hall. Check back on January 7th to read this article!
