Sennheiser Presents AMBEO 3D Audio Technology Early in 2016, Sennheiser unveiled a strategic focus on 3D immersive audio, a groundbreaking holistic solution called AMBEO that promises the ultimate in audio capture and reproduction. "3D audio is the new frontier of excellence, set to transform the listen- ing experience for users across a broad range of applications, from virtual real- ity gaming to audio recording and broadcasting," said Sennheiser's co- Chief Executive Officers Daniel Sennheiser and Dr. Andreas Sennheiser. "We have been active in this area for some time with 9.1 mixing and record- ing and the audio design for high-pro- file exhibitions. We are now increasing our efforts considerably to introduce this amazing sound quality into new products and applications, enabling users to experience and shape the future of audio." Taking Installations to the Next Level Sennheiser has been making original 9.1 recordings since 2010 and has promoted these activities at audio gatherings, work- shops and tradeshows around the globe. The company has since used its AMBEO trademark as an umbrella for its immer- sive audio products and activities. In the course of this work, a tonmeister-quality AMBEO upmix algorithm was also developed to turn legacy stereo material into stunning 9.1 music. High-profile museum installations have featured Sennheiser's work with the 3D audio format, including the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London – the world's leading museum of art, design and performance. The V&A's internationally successful "David Bowie is" exhibition, which saw 1.7 million visitors on the global tour as of August 2017, and the "You Say You Want a Revolution? Records and Rebels 1966 – 1970" touring exhibition both used AMBEO sound installations that fully envelop visitors in sound and music, establishing a completely new type of museum experience. AMBEO 3D Audio was also used for "The Pink Floyd Exhibition: Their Mortal Remains." The exhibition features an AMBEO installation in a dedicated Performance Zone, where a unique 17- channel remix of "Comfortably Numb" is played back over a total of 25 loud- speakers. 3D Products Sennheiser's first AMBEO consumer product is the recently announced AMBEO SMART HEADSET, a com- pact earphone for immersive 3D audio recording that lets consumers capture and listen to binaural audio recordings on their smartphones with unprecedent- ed simplicity. Binaural audio delivers an immersive 3D experience, placing the listener inside the soundscape and repli- cating the direction of sounds and spa- tial characteristics of a given environ- ment. The AMBEO VR Mic provides high-quality 3D audio that eliminates the boundaries between playback and reality. The compact handheld Ambisonics microphone comes with everything need- ed for creating professional virtual-reali- ty sound. AMBEO Music Blueprints AMBEO Music Blueprints is a dedicated website that explores how to record, mix and deliver live music as an immersive 3D audio experience. At www.sennheis- er.com/ambeo-blueprints, three Blueprints – AMBEO for Loudspeakers, AMBEO for Binaural and AMBEO for Virtual Reality – provide straightforward information on recording set-ups and microphone positioning, mixing with additional spot microphones, and deliv- ery and playback for a 3D listening expe- rience. TSSI Maximizes Recovery on Goods Perceived as Undesirable Technology Solutions & Services, Inc., (TSSI) remanufactures products that have already been produced. The compa- ny offers expanded capacity and capabil- ities for reverse logistics. TSSI is focused on enhancing service capabilities for mobile products. This includes increas- ing production capacity as well as enhancing cosmetic capabilities to bring products closer to a "like-new" condi- tion. Other remanufacturers focus on making a unit functional again, but TSSI brings a refurbished product back to or close to an A-Grade condition. This allows clients to increase resale by more than 30 percent, a sizable increase in recovery for their clients. TSSI partners with manufacturers, retailers and distributors to facilitate their ability to effectively manage their returned goods. From a returned asset management perspective, the mobile industry appears to be where the PC industry was over 20 years ago. TSSI was successful in the evolution of asset man- agement in their PC group and now man- ages returned assets for brands such as HP and Lenovo. TSSI's services are designed to max- imize recovery on goods that many people perceive as undesirable, yet are still poten- tially tangible assets on a company ledger. The processes expertly manage returned goods from the beginning of the returns process through to final disposition. Some clients only require broken glass LCD/LCM service while others may want whole phone refurbishment, kitting and fulfillment services. Services can be sepa- rated out or bundled together on an as- needed basis to suit the unique require- ments of each individual client. Product returns continue to have an increasing impact on the bottom line; therefore TSSI strives to proactively provide clients with revenue maximizing solutions to their unique asset recovery needs.
