Broadcasters Show Daily Tuesday, April 25, 2017 4 SNOW-FREE SATELLITE DISHES KEEP YOU ON AIR It's a safe bet that this year's NAB atten- dees won't encounter snow in Las Vegas. Nevertheless, broadcasters coming to the show know that snow in winter is no excuse for going off the air. One exhibitor at NAB plays a unique behind- the-scenes role in helping to ensure that TV audiences around North America and the world enjoy uninterrupted program- ming all winter long. The exhibitor is W.B. Walton Enterprises (also known as Walton De-Ice), the world's leading designer and manufacturer of satellite earth station antenna weather protection solutions that prevent the accumulation of snow and ice on antennas (www.de- ice.com). The San Bernardino, California- based company's products help protect critical broadcast, cable and direct-to- home satellite networks from signal degradation, outages and downtime due to snow, ice and rain. Over the past 37 years, nearly 20,000 Walton De-Ice earth station weather protection systems have been delivered for satellite networks across the globe. For larger and uplink type antennas from 3.7 to 32 meters in size, Walton's Hot-Air De-Icing system uses a unique enclosure design which mounts behind antennas. For smaller antennas from 0.6 to 6.3 meters in diameter, Walton has shipped over 14,500 of its Snow Shield and Ice Quake antenna cover systems. With Snow Shield and Ice Quake systems, cable head ends and broadcast- ers can achieve up to 100-fold energy savings compared to using conventional anti-ice solutions without sacrificing downlink performance, according to the AKITIO THUNDER3 QUAD MINI – A MUST-HAVE COMPANION TO THE NEW APPLE MACBOOK PRO Akitio, makers of premium, high quali- ty external computer storage solutions have released the world's first four bay, Thunderbolt™ 3 Storage solution for Mac and Windows.
