NATURALLY HEALTHY www.gourmetnews.com n MARCH 2016 n GOURMET NEWS N H 4 0 Fall River Wild Rice Shows How Easy and Versatile Wild Rice Can Be An interview with Walt Oilar, General Manager, Fall River Wild Rice. GN: Tell our readers about your company. What's your main line of business? WO: Fall River Wild Rice is a grower- owned cooperative located in the rural mountains of Northeastern California. It is an area well suited for growing wild rice. We supply wild rice to the retail and food- service markets. GN: What is it that separates you from the competition and makes your company unique? WO: We are a small company from "small town America." With that comes a great desire to be customer service oriented, which we fulfill wholeheartedly. When you call our company you're not calling a "call center." Nine times out of 10 you'll be talking to me and I'll personally handle any situation. I love talking to all callers! GN: What about products? WO: Though we're small we're also in- novative. In my mind our greatest achievement and contribution to the in- dustry to date is starting the "fully cooked" rice products. Wild rice requires a long cook time – around an hour. The solution was Fully Cooked Wild Rice in a retort, flexible package. This not only earned us awards, but more importantly gives us the greater satisfaction of helping consumers have one of the world's health- iest grains "at their fingertips." Because it's more accessible and easier to prepare, more people are able to live a healthier lifestyle by utilizing wild rice in this fully cooked format. GN: What particular product will you be showcasing at the Natural Products Expo? WO: We'll be displaying all of our prod- ucts. What we're especially excited to show is how easy and versatile wild rice can be. We'll be sampling a variety of products and uses for wild rice. GN: What do you hope to get out of the show in Anaheim? WO: We love attending this show – it's such a great atmosphere! We hope we can reach more people with our products. Wild rice is a grain with tremendous health ben- efits. We hope we can help more people discover this wholesome, healthy grain and take advantage of our unique prod- ucts. If we've done that, then we've been successful! For more information, visit www. fallriverwildrice.com, call 800.626.4366, email wildrice@shasta.com or stop by booth #5766. Chatham Village Croutons Sprouting with Flavor In a tiny sandwich shop nestled in the town of Chatham, Massachusetts on the elbow of Cape Cod, a great tradition of baking the freshest breads, rolls and unique croutons was born. Today, the tradition still lives as the bakers of Chatham Village ® croutons continue to use the signature process to cre- ate unique, deliciously crunchy croutons. For the traditional line, the bakers of Chatham Village croutons start with 'made- from-scratch' French bread dough. After the rich, crusty loaves cool, they are cut to the perfect size, seasoned with a special season- ing blend, and baked again to seal in that ex- ceptional Chatham Village flavor. The tradi- tional line includes Garlic & Butter, Caesar, Ranch, Cheese & Garlic, Garden Herb, Sea Salt & Pepper and Fat Free Garlic & Onion. Chatham Village also has introduced some innovative new products to appeal to con- sumers who are interested in new eating trends and/or living a gluten-free lifestyle. Today's consumer is looking beyond wheat, to a variety of whole grains, including ancient or heritage grains. These grains have remained unchanged over hundreds or thou- sands of years. A sprouted grain has just begun to grow into a new plant. Sprouted and ancient grains have begun to appear in many grain-based packaged foods, in- cluding cereals, breads and noo- dles. And now, sprouted ancient grains are available in crouton form. These delicious new croutons begin as freshly baked bread made from a signature blend of non-GMO flour containing quinoa (traditionally from Bolivia and Peru), ama- ranth (enjoyed since the time of the Aztecs), spelt and 100 percent whole wheat. Then the bread is cut, baked and seasoned for a deli- cious crunch – the same delicious crunch and quality consumers have come to expect from Chatham Village, a brand they know and trust. The products are made with non-GMO sunflower oil and flour and contain no high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors or colors. They are available in Aged Parmesan, Garlic & Butter and Seasoned. And for those consumers look- ing for gluten-free products, Chatham Vil- lage Seasoned Herb croutons fit the bill. The made-from-scratch bread dough is a custom blend of tapioca flour, rice flour and potato starch. Chatham Village Croutons can be enjoyed on salads, in soups or as a perfect snack. TMR Launches Three New Liquid Products Trace Minerals Research (TMR), America's No. 1 trace mineral and liquid magnesium brand according to SPINS ® , announces that it has launched Liquid Ionic Plant Minerals, NO! Muscle Cramps and Ionic Copper to add to its extensive line of liquid supplement offerings. All three products were unveiled at the 2015 Southeast Natural Product Association's SOHO EXPO in Kissimmee, Florida. "All of the retailers we met with at the show were really excited to bring on each one of the new liquid products because of how well our liquid line sells for them," said Dave Cham- bers, National Sales Manager for TMR. "As the No. 1 liquid magnesium brand in the nat- ural channel and as a leader in liquid mineral supplements, we're excited to expand our liq- uid line to include these new products and pro- vide consumers with supplements that help them lead happier and healthier lives." Liquid Ionic Plant Minerals is formulated with organic, hydrophilic, plant-derived trace minerals from a complex called humic shale. Humic shale is composed of mineral-rich pre- historic soils, pristine vegetation, and nutrient- dense fruits and vegetables that have been preserved deep in the earth from moisture and pollutants for millions of years. Humic shale has retained the spectrum and abundance of natural plant minerals, including naturally-oc- curring fulvic acid and a complete, full-spec- trum of over 72 body-balancing, naturally-occurring trace minerals. TMR then infuses the formula with concentrated ionic trace minerals, providing a unique, compre- hensive blend of trace mineral complexes to help maintain a healthy balance of minerals in the body. Liquid Ionic Plant Minerals has a great tasting tangerine flavor and contains no artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners, and is gluten-free, non-GMO and certified vegan. NO! Muscle Cramps is a liquid supplement formulated with pure, essential electrolytes such as potassium, sodium, magnesium, chlo- ride and sulfate, plus over 72 naturally-occur- ring ionic trace minerals from ConcenTrace ® to provide the muscles with the essential elec- trolytes they need to stay properly hydrated. Though there are many causes of acute muscle cramps, dehydration is one of the most com- mon. Proper hydration with water and key electrolytes can help keep muscles healthy, balanced and relaxed so these types of muscle cramps can be avoided, especially those that wake people up at night. NO! Muscle Cramps is non-GMO, gluten-free and certified vegan. Ionic Copper provides 3mg, or 150 percent of the daily value of copper, from copper sul- fate per serving in liquid form, plus over 72 naturally-occurring ionic trace minerals. It's an addition to TMR's Ionic Single Minerals line, which currently has nine products, including Ionic Selenium, Ionic Zinc and Ionic Iron, to name a few. Copper is an important mineral that helps to activate the enzyme superoxide dismutase, one of the body's primary internal antioxidant defenses, which plays a critical role in reducing the body's oxidative stress. Copper also plays an important role in many physiological processes, including the healthy formation of red blood cells, proper enzymatic reactions, efficient utilization of iron and main- taining healthy connective tissue, hair and eyes. Ionic Copper is non-GMO, gluten-free, certified vegan and comes with a metered dropper which allows for variable dosing. Since health practitioners rec- ommend different doses depending on your needs, the metered dropper al- lows for these recom- mendations to be followed, where a normal tablet or capsule does not. Liquid Ionic Plant Minerals, NO! Muscle Cramps and Ionic Copper are available in nat- ural and specialty health food stores through- out the country and through qualified online retailers. Liquid Ionic Plant Minerals comes in a 17-ounce, 100-serving bottle and carries an MSRP of $23.79. NO! Muscle Cramps is available in a four-ounce, 60-serving bottle at an MSRP of $17.49. Ionic Copper comes in a two-ounce glass bottle and provides 48 serv- ings for an MSRP of $12.89. All TMR prod- ucts come with an unconditional "Feel the Difference or Your Money Back" satisfaction guarantee. For more information, visit www. traceminerals.com or stop by booth #1535.
