Part of a suite of data-processing products that also includes an insertion and extraction tool and a new openGear ® -solution card, the ANC-MON combines the probing capabilities of multiple pieces of test equipment into a single tool that auto- matically probes various types of ancil- lary data and alerts broadcast control room operators when something is out of spec. Cobalt Digital is demonstrating the new tool in booth #2722 at the 2015 NAB Show, along with its insertion/extraction counterpart, in an openGear frame configuration. By continuously and automatically monitoring ancillary data such as SCTE 104 messages, active format description, embedded audio, closed captioning and other requirements from the Federal Communications Commission and oth- ers, and worldwide loudness require- ments, the ANC-MON gives operators confidence that signals are presenting accurately and provides engineers and management with proof of performance and compliance for ad insertions. The tool checks the data at multi- ple points in a facility's workflow, and when the data is out of step with any preset thresholds, an alarm alerts the operator, who can then call upon engineering staff to pinpoint and fix the problem. The ANC-MON probe can be dis- tributed across all of a facility's signals, eliminating the need to deploy expensive scopes, analyzers and other test and measurement equipment — and the human intervention it requires — until an alarm sounds, thereby reducing both PREROLL POST FROM IMAGINE PRODUCTS PreRoll Post™ is a LTFS archiving application that automates indexing your camera originals, complete with thumbs, proxies and metadata, while backing up full resolution media to local disk and long-term LTO-6 or LTO-5 tapes. PreRoll Post is now available for both Windows and Macintosh. Both versions are "video aware" and comply with the Discovery Channel's LTO tape delivery requirements. PreRoll Post takes advantage of the Linear File Transfer System (LTFS) sup- ported by tape drive manufacturers. The LTFS mounts a tape as a volume (hard disk). This makes it possible to write and read from the tapes as if it were a disk without proprietary software or format- ting. PreRoll Post also has drag and drop functionality for faster queuing. PreRoll Post hardware is independ- ent – the user can choose any LTFS com- pliant tape drive such as mLogic's mTape, Unitex LT60 or 1Beyond's ThunderTape2. PreRoll Post can also be used with Sony's Optical Disc Archive (ODA), which utilizes BluRay technology rather than LTO tapes. PreRoll Post is the first Macintosh archive program available for ODA. All archives made with PreRoll Post are verified using checksum technology. Presets available within PreRoll Post allow the user to choose the appropriate checksum each time or set it once and forget it. This ensures that archives are 100 percent accurate, and when retrieving, that the files exactly match the originals. PreRoll Post makes it simple to Continued on Page 41 Continued on Page 41 AN INDEPENDENT PUBLICATION NOT AFFILIATED WITH NAB Lee M.
