B r o a d c a s t e r s S h o w D a i l y M o n d a y, A p r i l 1 3 , 2 0 1 5 2 8 CHARGEPOINT: DRIVING MASSIVE TRANSFORMATION IN THE AUTO INDUSTRY The auto industry has essentially been static for decades now, but with the recent success of electric vehicles (EVs), the car industry is undergoing a massive transformation from fossil fuel to electric, from driver to driverless, from unconnected to connected. Millions of EVs will be on the road by 2020. The first question of course is where and how will all those EVs charge? This is where ChargePoint comes in, providing a compelling answer. That answer is that drivers will charge where they work, eat, shop and play on ChargePoint's network of over 20,000 public charging spots, which are growing at a rate of more than 10,000 a year. With millions of EVs on the way, and more and more people choosing solar, it seems that ChargePoint will become even more instrumental in driv- ing the disruption in autos and energy and will be a key player in the smart home of tomorrow. to virtually any Internet site, curated real- time streaming video content, social media and Web conferencing, enabling the user to control the viewing and com- munications interfaces by adjusting the size and location of viewing windows. The personalized viewing experience is revolutionary, as the viewer or groups of viewers are able to create their unique and sharable experience and interact with friends and social circles with enhanced user functionality. BSD: What is the advantage of Giga Entertainment Media for cable, satellite and other content aggregation entities? BM: Streaming and video on demand are increasingly becoming a more popular means by which Millennials and enter- prises obtain their video content. Extensive research indicates that this broad audience is interested in multi- tasking via viewing content, accessing social media sites and actively interact- ing with their friends and colleagues. Giga Entertainment Media is the only platform by which these entities can fully interact and simultaneously view all of the above seamlessly on one device. The GEM platform empowers content aggre- gators to customize and deliver dynamic self-service and customizable curated content to their audience. Possibilities include providing the mobile interface for: cable, satellite, online streaming and on-demand programs; video portals for webcasting in specialty areas such as entertainment, healthcare, education, government and; extending special events or focused marketing campaigns for new movies, television and online programming. BSD: How Challenging is the Integration Process When Implementing the GEM Giga Entertainment Media (Cont'd. from p. 1) Platform? BM: The GEM platform is based on intellectual property in the areas of streaming media management and the ability to simultaneously split the screens on any mobile device. In developing the platform, we created an open API (appli- cation protocol interface) and SDK (soft- ware development kit) that enable rapid integration into existing customer sys- tems. The platform operating within the customer premise is part of the overall workflow and delivery process so as to not disrupt existing infrastructure. The secure architecture is also modular and enables customization to fit customer needs. BSD: What validation has GEM received for its platform? BM: GIGANETTV is GEM's white label solution for cable, satellite and other con- tent aggregation entities. GEM, at the end of 2014, introduced via soft launch its breakthrough and dynamic multimedia technology platform for consumers, SIMUL SEZ – the ultimate, most person- alized "simultasking" social media app ever – for the Apple iPad ® through the Apple iTunes App Store (www.itunes.apple.com/us/app/simul- sez/id934428253?mt=8). SIMUL SEZ provides consumers with unique and simultaneous multi-stream, multi-screen and multi-user immersive, interactive and collaborative windows, displayable on any mobile device. The validation of being approved by Apple for release on the iTunes store is incredible since Apple does not typically approve multiple apps that maintain similar features and functionality. Making copies of a hard drive or SSD can be an extremely time consum- ing endeavor. Copying 1TB or more onto another hard drive or SSD can often take several minutes. The AKiTiO Data- Multiplier software makes three copies in the same time that it normally takes to make just one! Copies can be sent out to several editors at the same time thus reducing the total time needed to get projects finished. The Thunder2 QUAD mini is also extremely compact, making it the ideal enclosure for both in-studio and on-site projects. Lightweight and compact, the QUAD mini takes up very little space on your desktop or workstation and can eas- AKiTiO (Cont'd. from p. 1) ily be slipped into a bag for use outside the office. The extremely low decibel fan is whisper quiet and can even be turned off completely for use in labs that require absolute quiet. The versatile QUAD mini can be configured in several different ways. One way that may work well for a lot of peo- ple is to install two SSDs in RAID-0 for fast delivery of common files and then to install two hard drives into the other two drive bays to store important files. The Thunder2 QUAD mini will be available directly from AKiTiO at www.akitio.com, on Amazon.com or through other AKiTiO resellers. More information about the complete line of AKiTiO products can be found by visiting booth #SL14818 in the South Lower Hall or akitio.com, or by contact- ing sales@akitio.com. BSD: What's new at NAB?
