The deep seating and loose back cushions of Spencer's two-seat sofa and chair offer the ultimate in comfort. The sculptural quality of the polished stain- less steel base complements the low, con- temporary profile of Spencer's sofa and chair. Pair the sofa and chair with an occasional table and end table to create a relaxed lounge or meeting area. The same polished stainless steel base is used on Spencer's series of benches, occasional and end tables. The benches and occasional tables are available in 60-inch, 48-inch and 30- inch lengths with adjustable glides on the base. The table tops are a walnut veneer with a .5-inch band of solid walnut sur- rounding the edge. With a hand-applied stain, they are then finished with multiple coats of lacquer, providing a durable fin- ish that gives the table a rich and lumi- nous look. For open spaces benches are the per- fect answer for versatile seating. The Spencer bench is available in three lengths ensuring that there is a bench to fit any space. The Baron Executive Lounge is a high-back swivel chair that is so com- fortable, you may never want to leave it. The clean soft, curvilinear lines and the simplicity of the polished aluminum base gives this executive chair a contem- porary elegance. With all these beautiful pieces, the Spencer and Baron Collections have something for everyone and everyplace. CUSTOM CONFERENCE TABLE TOPS BY EFI MAKE A BOLD STATEMENT EFI's custom conference table and desk tops with SoftEtch offer a distinguished change from the everyday. SoftEtch is a clear glass with a smooth etched finish being presented at NeoCon by EFI. Other than being eco-friendly, SoftEtch is smudge-proof and stain-resistant. It is soft to the touch, customizable in any color and is suitable for any interior design application. "It actually feels nice. We invite you to stop by the booth and experience the touchable nature of this product." says Phillip Atwood, Director of Marketing for EFI. EFI uses the SoftEtch product in custom conference table and desk tops, Atwood says. "We fabricate thick glass with a SoftEtch finish in custom shapes and sizes. We allow you to choose any color, one of our intricate patterns or a mirror effect." For the SoftEtch Colour product line, the glass is back-painted in the customer's choice of color. Customers may choose from a variety of patterns in our SoftEtch Pattern line to create a visual stunning effect. A third possible choice is SoftEtch Mirror in which a mirror finish is applied to the glass to create a reflective surface. Any of the patterns, colors, and mirror effects can be mixed and matched to the customer's order. "We have several customers in the corporate and office industries that use our products as conference table and desk tops, doors, drawer facings and even shelves," Atwood says. "We can also insert SoftEtch glass into a sliding frame to be used as doors to offices or conference rooms or to create and hide storage areas." "We will also be displaying our glass magnetic marker boards. Even though this is clear glass, we can still apply the same technique as our SoftEtch Colour line to achieve any color imaginable," Atwood added. "In addition to traditional marker board applications where the unit hangs on a wall, EFI marries the glass to an aluminum frame which allows it to be used in many other applications such as panels in sliding systems or as integrated partitions in office furniture and collabo- rative workspaces." SoftEtch products are fabricated at EFI's plant in Kernersville, N.C. with glass imported from Italy. "We're offer- ing European designs that are manufac- tured in the U.S.," Atwood said. Lead time from order to delivery is generally two weeks, depending on the complexity of the order, but Atwood expects that time to drop later in the year as they are currently training on new equipment that should make their processes more efficient. Orders are accepted in any quantity; no minimum order is required. For more information, visit EFI on the eighth floor in booth 8-4073 at NeoCon. Twenty-two years after the implementa- tion of the first full-scale upholstered fur- niture flammability requirement for pub- lic seating, California TB 133, the indus- try is about to change again. The California Bureau of Home Furnishings is in the process of changing its residential furniture flammability requirement, CAL 117. The new standard will be called CAL TB 117-2013. The focus of the regulatory change is to require that upholstered fur- niture manufacturers use polyurethane foams that do not contain halogenated flame retardants. Concerns about toxicity and bio accumulation of halogenated flame retardants in the environment have led to the changes. The new CAL TB 117- 2013 standard will use a cigarette as the ignition source, replacing the traditional small open flame source. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is also studying upholstered furniture fire safety. The CPSC is cur- rently considering a national upholstered furniture flammability regulation that may require both a smoldering (cigarette) ignition source and a small flame ignition source. Preferred Finishing currently sup- plies more fire barrier for CAL TB 133 applications than any other producer. The team of scientists at Preferred Finishing has been producing fire barri- er interliners since 1991. In 2013, their research efforts lead to the development of Firewall K-800. K-800 is the only barrier tested to meet both a smoldering ignition source and an open flame igni- tion source. K-800 is rated by MBCD as "OK for use" in building "Cradle to Cradle" branded furniture. Firewall K- 800 contains no items listed in California's Proposition 65. It's easy to work with, "green" and highly effective. Please visit booth 8-1116 and watch Firewall K-800 at work. Just pick up the phone and place an order, and it'll be ready to pick up the following day, said President and CEO Guy Boniface. "When I started this company in 2008, there was a strong need for a strong company with distribution in North America for quality office seating com- ponents," he said. "That was the premise behind 1ReSource – my customers want- ed one resource for the parts for their office seating – they didn't want to be dealing with multiple vendors." This year at NeoCon, 1ReSource will be introducing a whole array of new products, including arms, casters, chair bases and gas cylinders. Samples will be available for customers who need to check out the products at home. The products, made overseas by some of the world's largest manufacturers of seating components are stocked in the warehous- es in Toronto, which supplies Canada and the eastern U.S. and in California, which supplies the American west coast. The Toronto facility warehouses more than 400 skids of office seating components at any given time, so odds are that if you need a component for the office chairs you're building, it's in stock, and you can have it just in time. The California ware- house is a smaller facility, but it houses the same mix of components. "It's a just- in-time program for pretty much every- thing I have in stock," Boniface said. "Not all customers do that, but there are always emergencies where people want to order today and pick up tomorrow." If you want something other than an off-the-shelf component, 1ReSource can take care of you on that too. "We also do a lot of custom programs. A company comes to me and says that, 'I know you have this mechanism, but can you make it a little different to make it fit our chair?'" Boniface said. That request calls in the 1ReSource engineering and design team to design and prototype the new component to the customer's exact specifications. "That part would become the cus- tomer's part only. We wouldn't sell it to anyone else," Boniface said. "We could keep it in stock so the customer can pull from the warehouse stock as need- ed or the customer can buy in bulk directly from our overseas factory." The end result is consistent quality with consistent on-time delivery, which Boniface regards as two of the keys to his company's success. The others are the value of the product to the customer and his own reputation and that of his Sales Manager Darren Pearcey. Both have been in the office furniture business for nearly 30 years, and both have earned their cus- tomers' trust. "To me, it's really the value of the people that's the value of the com- pany," Boniface said. "The name 'Guy Boniface' has been around the market for 30 years. Darren has the same reputation that I have – a very good person, an hon- est and trustworthy salesman." To learn more, visit booth 2054 and 1054 on the seventh floor at NeoCon.
