As the best solution to turn any glass panel to a scalable optic-clear display surface, it can be used for fullwindshield Heads-up Display (HUD) on windshields and clear digital sig- nage on the windows of storefronts or in stores. Funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation, the EPD system recently won the prestigious annual R&D 100 Award. It can easily convert any clear glass to digital display without obstructing the view through the glass, at unlimited viewing angles. CEDN: Tell us what's new and exciting at ChargePoint. DP: We're driving the electric vehicle (EV) industry forward by integrating with auto companies in a way that's never been done before. For the first time ever, EV automakers are integrating our network and its real-time data that we provide directly into the cars they manufacture. CEDN: What is the benefit for them and for the drivers of these cars? DP: A better and happier driving experience. For instance, in the 2014 BMW i3, drivers will be able to get turn-by-turn directions to the nearest available charging station right from their car's in-dash navigation system. CEDN: Tell us more about how this works. DP: Providing drivers easy and seamless access to public charging is very important. We help accomplish this by partnering with a company like BMW, a leader and innovator when it comes to satisfying driver needs. Our real-time charging data is available right from the car's navigation system. This gives drivers something they have never had before: hands-free, turn-by-turn direction to an available charging station. For BMW i3 drivers, PARTNERSHIP WILL CREATE GAMES BASED ON GAME OF THRONES Telltale Games and HBO Global Licensing are working on an interactive episodic game series based on the critically-acclaimed and Emmy® Awardwinning epic drama Game of Thrones. The multi-year, multi-title partnership between Telltale and HBO Global Licensing is targeted to premiere digitally in 2014 with an episodic game series for home consoles, PC/Mac, and mobile devices. Specific platform details are yet to be announced. "Since the very beginning, Telltale's goal has been to work alongside the most talented and respected forces in entertainment, bringing their worlds to the interactive space as no other game studio can," said Dan Connors, Co-founder KALEIDESCAPE NAMED INNOVATIONS DESIGN AND ENGINEERING AWARDS HONOREE Kaleidescape, Inc., the market leader in movie servers, today announced that the company's latest innovation, Cinema One—the ultimate movie player for the perfect home theater experience—has been named a 2014 CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards Honoree in the Home Audio/Video Components category. A preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, independent engineers, and members of the trade media selected the honorees from entries in this prestigious program. Kaleidescape is renowned for its movie servers installed in the most spectacular home theaters around the world. This year CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards recognized Kaleidescape's Cinema One for its ability to deliver the same great theater experience in an easy-to-use and simple-to-install movie player. Cinema One combines pristine picture quality with high-fidelity sound to transform any living room into the ultimate home theater. Unlike streaming services, Cinema One lets viewers enjoy all of their movies in true bit-for-bit Blu-ray and DVD quality—whether imported from CD, DVD, or Blu-ray disc, or downloaded C o n su m e r Ele c tro n ic D a ily N e ws from functional nano-materials is clear to visible light, yet it blocks the projected image from going through it. The screen has pressure-sensitive adhesive to be applied to a clean glass surface of any size or shape, and the compact and portable digital projector comes in easy to install complete package. The whole system comes with technical support. In addition to being the best display solution for glass, the same EPD system will enable a high contrast, pitch-black projection screen in bright lighting environments. This will allow drivers to immediately to start a charging session at any station on the ChargePoint network. To initiate a charge, the driver taps the card on the station, just like he might tap his card to open a door at his place of work. When that card is tapped on the ChargePoint station, it'll recognize the card and allow that car to charge. That card is being placed directly into all BMW i3s so that those drivers can immediately charge their cars. We're the first company to do that, and we're still the only company to do it. That's important to drivers, because the more charging stations that are available to them, the greater confidence drivers can have. Electric vehicle drivers want to be able to plug in wherever they eat, work or play, so that by participating in our large network of public charging stations, property owners can attract this upscale group of drivers. The owner can set their station to be publicly viewable, so it shows up on the network. A station that's available only to specific authorized users will be visible on the mobile app only to those authorized users. Station owners can charge a little or a lot – or nothing at all. You can't do that with other business models from our competitors. That's one of the reasons we have a 70 percent market share of public network stations. DP: ChargePoint is the inventor of smart charging. We actually invented networked charging two years before there were any EVs on the road. In just a few short years, we have grown our network to be the largest and most open EV charging network in the world. As the only movie system to support Blu-ray quality movie downloads, Cinema One delivers amazing convenience without any compromise in quality. Cinema One can store and play up to 600 DVD or 100 Blu-ray quality movies and goes from zero to opening scene faster than any Blu-ray player on the market. Kaleidescape also knows exactly where a feature film starts so viewers go straight to the picture, with no delays from previews, menus, or ads. This family-friendly movie server has also been designed to meet the needs of young children by automatically switching to a simplified user interface with a specially designed child remote. "Cinema One brings the Kaleidescape Experience to a wider audience, and we are honored by this nomination from the Consumer Electronics Association," said Michael Malcolm, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Kaleidescape. Since 1976, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) has sponsored the CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards, which recognize achievements in product design and engineering. CEA is also the producer of the International CES, an annual global gathering for the consumer technology industry. Martin, Game of Thrones is an epic story where political and sexual intrigue abound as seven noble families fight for control of the Iron Throne and the Seven Kingdoms.
