Oser Founder Produce Show Daily Friday, October 19, 2018 4 The SNOBOY Triple Inspected Produce Advantage For fresh produce brand SNOBOY, it's all about having people in the fields to work with growers to verify quality and availability on your behalf every step of the way. This presence allows product to be triple inspected prior to your customer receiving it. "We are source-based, meaning we are on the ground actually looking at everything we pack in SNOBOY," said Jim Richter, President. "We can verify the quality of the product available from our growers first hand prior to harvest, during harvest and when it ships, which makes a huge difference to our cus- tomers." "Our people in the field are experts on the produce grown in their area," said Richter. "They keep a close eye on local market conditions and the quality in the field, which allows them to best match customers' needs and expectations to the product." Richter said, "A lot of SNOBOY competitors conduct business with the growers from only one region and cover other areas strictly by phone. If you're not in the fields in every area, you can't verify the true quality of the p r o d u c t . " SNOBOY has solved this issue with its Quality Assurance associ- ates in the field. Having representatives at the source in every major growing area in the U.S. gives SNOBOY a major advantage in the competitive produce marketing arena. SNOBOY offers customers a true independent voice from the best grow- ing areas in the U.S. and can do all the work of finding the best quality and deals for customers. Richter said, Michigan Apple Retail Dietitian Kit Available to Retailers The Michigan Apple Committee has released a new Retail Dietitian Kit in col- laboration with Shari Steinbach, MS, RD. "Consumers often look to their local supermarket as a source for infor- mation about healthy eating, recipes and solutions for their families," said Diane Smith, Executive Director of the Michigan Apple Committee. "The Michigan Apple kit will be invaluable as a way for retailers to reach their shoppers, particularly in the fall time frame." The kit aims to assist retailers in educating customers about the health benefits associated with apples. Steinbach shares research on how the consumption of apples may fight cancer and improve digestive, heart and brain health. Nutritional talking points, such as apples being a good source of fiber, are also featured in the kit. Helpful meal preparation tips and healthy recipes are also included in the kit for retailers to share with customers. The kit includes information about the Michigan Apple industry and vari- etal, usage and storage infor- mation. A har- vest schedule and types and tastes guide are included to help retailers educate shoppers so they can select the ideal type for their needs and know when to look for them. The kit also answers frequently asked questions regarding apple selection, storage and handling. "Shari Steinbach did a wonderful job of tapping into her years of experience as a retail dietitian to pull together concepts and information she knows dietitians Continued on Page 61 Continued on Page 61
