Wireless World 1 5 Wednesday, September 12, 2018 The Importance of Quality Dash Cams The dash cam is a surveillance-oriented video recorder mounted on the wind- screen of a vehicle facing out to the road. It tracks the events going on around your car into a micro SD card and stores video evidence if incidents occur. Dash cams automatically power up and record when your engine turns on and automatically turns off and stops recording when the engine is turned off. Dash cams are pow- ered through a cigarette lighter socket through the power cord. Papago dash cams can continue to record even when you have parked and are away from your vehicle to catch vandals, rogue criminals and can monitor your garage/property. These parked recording features are enabled by hard wiring your dash cam to your battery. A dash cam provides irrefutable video evidence for protection from false accusa- tions after the incident, including drunk drivers, road rage and insurance fraud. Crash investigators can use this important footage to help you figure out what hap- pened in the lead up to an accident. Today, dash cams are used by most drivers in Europe, America, Russia, South Korea, Southeast Asia and are rap- idly growing in popularity in Australia. The importance of quality dash cams are: protecting yourself – dash cams are important because it helps drivers protect themselves from false accusations in road incidents. It's clear that no matter how careful you drive, if other drivers are not careful, you can easily end up in an accident. You may be charged guilty by your insurance compa- ny, depending on the situation; and, stop- ping vandalism/hit and run and monitor your parked vehicle – Papago dash cams can protect customer's cars from being vandalized while parked. With the use of a hardwire kit to provide constant power, the dash cam can be triggered by motion or impact and record what is happening around the parked car. We all know what mall/supermarket car parks are like. In most cases, the careless driver will leave the scene without giving details. The dash cam can help prove to your insur- ance company that you did not cause the damage yourself, or in the case of inten- tional damage, the footage can be shown to the police. Other reasons quality dash cams are important include: with a quality dash cam, employers can monitor and ensure employees are fol- lowing company rules when driving fleet vehicles; a quality dash cam provides irrefutable video evidence in the event of a road incident – false accusations can be disputed; some quality dash cam models provide GPS location tracking and vehi- cle speed; a quality dash cam is indispen- sable because it provides protection and evidence from hit and run incidents, car theft and malicious damage; a quality dash cam is easy to install and easy to use; and may reduce the time to settle a claim by an insurance company or court. Four out of five of Scripps Networks Interactive Under One Roof panel members agree that "making my home convenient for daily tasks" is a benefit that smart home technology offers. (Under One Roof is an internet- based community hosted by Scripps Networks Interactive that includes approximately 20,000 U.S. residents ages 18-64. The community is comprised of a national sample of consumers who are "lifestyle enthusiasts," recruited based on their interest in the home, food and travel categories. The community is not intend- ed to be representative of the U.S. gener- al population.) Household resets are key opportuni- ties to integrate new technology at home. Life stage transitions like moving to a new home, bringing a baby into the household or having an elderly parent move in help consumers justify smart home technology upgrades and new pur- chases. Each of these "resets" is an opportunity to grow an individual's IoT and build systems that not only work hard to keep the household running at maximum efficiency, but also enhance the emotional satisfaction gained from our homes. There is a slow simmer on investing Technology (Cont'd. from p. 1) in technology for the kitchen. It may be that we like to go analog in the kitchen and create with our own hands. Consumers view kitchen- and bath-relat- ed technology as "nice-to-have," but not a top priority. These devices haven't proven their value yet in terms of money, time and countertop space, but they have the potential to deliver big on the biggest challenge – delivering efficiency that ultimately contributes to our emotional satisfaction at home. Since friends and family are the No. 1 resource for smart home technology recommendations, a gift of a smart home product feels like a personal endorse- ment. When products are received as a gift, consumers can easily get over the hump of owning, installing and using technology in the home. A gifted smart home tech product acts as a gateway to curating a house full of technology that launches the homeowner into a well-run life. Frustrations arise when technology disengages individuals, or their loved ones, from each other. Camouflaging and enabling seamless flow of technology in the home guarantees we can maximize the sense of connection through minimiz- ing technological distractions.
