Gaea www.gaeaus.com On the Border Develops Smaller Packaging, New Individual Queso Dip On the Border's tortilla chips are the number one fastest-grow- ing tortilla chip brand, said Kyle Ragsdale, Executive Vice Pres- ident, at the NACS Show in Chicago in October. "But until now, we've never had an individual sized bag." That's why Ragsdale was so excited to show off the new On the Border packaging, together with its newest flavor, at the show. Mintel Group reported in its February 2017 Chips and Dip re- port that On the Border's sales have grown 162 percent since 2011, and outpace tortilla chip category growth year after year. Now available in 2-ounce sizes, On the Border's Nacho Cheese, Zesty Ranch and new Chile-Limon flavors pair well with On the Border's new individual serving-sized Queso Dip. The company has also in- troduced organic blue corn chips and organic yellow corn chips, and organic chunky salsa. The company's tortilla chips are also available in 3-ounce, 9-½-ounce, 12-ounce, 18-ounce and 28- ounce bags in all flavors. On the Border products are manufactured by Truco. Founded in Dallas, Texas, in 1991, Truco is a lead- ing developer and marketer of tortilla chips, salsa and queso under the On The Border ® brand. The com- pany's products are sold nationally through grocery retailers, club stores and mass merchandisers and launched in the convenience channel in early 2017. Twist Cheez is halfway between unripened fresh cheese curds and a matured fresh cheese. Company spokesman Jean-Phillipe Boutin ex- plains that the fresh cheese is melted and twisted, then brined and fla- vored. Boutin says the treat has been a familiar type of snack in Canada for many years – "it's in every store" – but now it's come to the United States. Twist Cheez is available in two sizes, 2-ounce and 4-ounce bags, and in four flavors – Jalapeño, BBQ, Sea Salt and Hickory Smoke. The 2- ounce bags have a suggested retail price of $1.99 and the 4-ounce bags have a suggested retail of $3.79.
