R e s t a u r a n t D a i l y N e w s 8 9 S u n d a y, M a y 2 2 , 2 0 1 6 EXCEL DRYER SERVES UP HEALTHY SAVINGS FOR RESTAURATEURS By William Gagnon, Vice President of Marketing Whether patrons enjoy high-quality burg- ers or delicious pizza, a candlelight din- ner or a fast lunch break, the restaurant business has something to satisfy every taste bud. But it isn't just the food that patrons pay attention to; it's also the décor, the seating, and believe it or not, the rest- rooms. A restroom supplied with paper towels or outdated hand dryers can be a major hygiene issue and present a messy environment – it also increases labor, maintenance and waste for the staff who need to dedicate time to ensuring cus- tomer satisfaction. Excel Dryers provide restaurant staff and customers with a cleaner, more hygienic restroom environment. "The bathrooms need to be as clean as the kitchen; that goes without saying," said Tim Taillefer, General Manager of Max Burger. "If a guest sees a dirty bathroom, they are going to be scared. They will wonder what's going on the plate." Tim is right. In fact, a study done by the American Journal of Infection Control found that a large community of culturable bacteria, including toxin pro- ducers, can be isolated from unused paper towels and that they may be trans- ferred to individuals after handwashing. Specifically, the findings included 17 species of bacteria on the paper towels, with the most common being Bacillus, which causes food poisoning. Excel Dryer continues to innovate and set new industry standards. The touch-free, automatic sen- sor activation and an optional HEPA Filtration System create a more hygienic restroom envi- ronment, which is particu- larly important for restau- rant settings that require superior hygienic standards. The patent- ed high-speed, energy-efficient XLERA- TOR ® Hand Dryer technology dries hands in 10 seconds and uses 80 percent less energy than conventional hand dry- ers – this equates to a 95 percent savings over paper towels. "Having the hand dryer is the key to having an effective speedy working envi- ronment. It gives us more time on the floor. More time on the floor equals more time with our guests. It allows our busi- ness to be more profitable," said Jay Fisher, Director of Operations/Partner Buffalo Wild Wings. "It allows our cus- tomer to be in and out … they are out before the commercial is even over." For more than 50 years, Excel Dryer has manufactured the finest American-made hand dryers in the industry. Excel Dryer is a family- run company dedicated to innovation and cutting edge technology backed by handmade quality and personal service. Excel Dryer continues to lead the industry with its expanded and enhanced product line featuring adjustable speed and sound, HEPA Filtration System, adjustable heat settings, multi-voltage options and more. Combined with the most complete line of options and acces- sories, the best hand drying solution can be designed for any restroom environ- ment. BALANCING THE POWER OF YOUR TABLETOP By Patrick Groves, Regional Sales Manager, ITI In a recent article that I read online enti- tled "The Power of the Tabletop" by a company called Fs Voice, the author had quoted the Executive Vice President of foodservice strategies at WD partners. Though the quote was geared toward uti- lizing the power of co-branding on the tabletop, it definitively caught my atten- tion in the area of the importance of any product that is set on the table. The quote was: "The trick is to set the table where the balance point is between helping eco- nomics on one side and guest satisfaction on the other side." In my 10-plus years of foodservice experience on both product facing and customer facing responsibilities, I have found that the balance point mentioned above is true. I believe that the majori- ty of customers looking to re-freshen their tabletop are looking for the bal- ance of three key factors: fashion – the items have to look good on the tabletop; function – the product has work as needed as well as to serve multiple pur- poses; and affordability – the customer needs to see some type of value in that product – whether from the price point or the service received for their invest- ment. Fashion Here at ITI, we have worked hard in the last few years "Refreshing the Tabletop ® " by offering new products that are in sync with today's current trends. Take for example the new Campfire™ dinnerware which offers diners a collec- tion of colorful items that offer a blend of color and nostalgia. Available in 23 individ- ual items, in both rolled edge and narrow rim options, Campfire is an excellent choice for barbecue or casual style dining establishments looking for a unique splash of color. Function Not only has ITI "Refreshed the Tabletop" by offering trend-specific products, but also items that can be multi-functional. The perfect example of this is ITI's new Sandwich and Side platter. These attractive, bright-white platters are available in two different configurations (one with a round divid- ed section with a well and one with a square divided section). This platter offers an elegant presentation for any sandwich and side for lunch service and can also be configured to serve as an upscale appetizer presentation during dinner service. Affordability The final balance point that customer are seeking is affordability; however, affordability is not always merely the price you pay for the product, but it is the blend of the monetary value along with the service that backs up the product. This includes the durability (think cost of ownership), the service (can I get the product when I need it) and yes, the price! Be sure to stop by ITI's booth at the NRA show (booth #1074 – South Hall) to take a look for yourself at how ITI con- tinues "Refreshing the Tabletop" to speak to one of our sales representatives. We trust that you will see that ITI offers the optimum balance of fashion, function and affordability that you have been looking for!
