Bene will succeed Mike Green, who pre- viously announced his intention to retire from Sysco at the end of 2014 after 24 years with the company. Bene joined Sysco as Executive Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer in March of 2013 and was named Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer in August of that year. Prior to joining Sysco, Bene was President of PepsiCo Foodservice, where he held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility in sales, operations, franchise development and gen- eral management over 23 years of service. "Tom is a proven commercial leader with deep ex- pertise and a strong track record in the foodservice industry," said Bill DeLaney, Sysco President and Chief Executive Officer. "Since joining Sysco early in 2013, he has helped drive major advances in cate- gory management, revenue management, sales ca- pability, and customer insights and segmentation. We are fortunate to have such a capable leader to suc- ceed Mike [Green]." Sysco is the global leader in selling, marketing and distributing food products to restaurants, healthcare and educational facilities, lodging establishments and other customers who prepare meals away from home. Its family of products also includes equipment and supplies for the foodservice and hospitality industries. The company operates 194 distribution facilities serv- ing approximately 425,000 customers. Meg Ham Named President of Food Lion Food Lion recently announced that Meg Ham has been named President of the retail company. She succeeds Beth Newlands Campbell, who is leaving the company for personal and professional rea- sons. Ham will lead all Food Lion banner opera- tions, including strategic direction, financial performance, product assortment, pricing, cus- tomer service and marketing. Previously, Ham served as president of Bottom Dollar Food. She joined Delhaize America in 1988 and has held a wide range of leadership roles at both Food Lion and Hannaford. "We are extremely pleased to tap into internal talent to ensure a seamless transition of Food Lion opera- tions to Meg Ham," said Kevin Holt, Chief Executive Officer of Delhaize America. "I have full confidence in Meg to continue to lead Food Lion's transformation and to deliver on the company's … strategy to enhance the customer shopping experience. Meg has an exten- sive retail operations and merchandising background with a strong focus on the customer experience and associate engagement." B&G Foods Selects Bob Cantwell as its Next President and CEO B&G Foods, Inc. recently announced that it has ap- pointed Robert C. Cantwell as its next President and Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1. Cantwell, who currently serves as B&G Foods' Exec- utive Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer, will succeed David L. Wenner, who retired at the end of 2014. Cantwell joined B&G Foods in 1983 as the Assistant Vice President of Finance. In that position, he had re- sponsibility for all financial reporting and budgeting. Cantwell was promoted to his current position in 1991, assuming full responsibility for all financial matters, as well as management information systems, data pro- cessing, administration and corporate human re- sources. Prior to joining B&G Foods, Cantwell spent four years at Deloitte & Touche LLP, where he received accreditation as a certified public accountant. Cantwell has served on the Board of Directors of B&G Foods since 2005. "I have worked alongside Bob for 25 years and could not think of a better CEO for the Company. Bob's intimate knowledge of our business and operating dis- ciplines make him well qualified for the position," said Wenner. "I look forward to remaining on the Board and continuing to work with Bob."
