Tornado's HyperFlux spectrometer, nom- inated for the PRISM Award, uses a high throughput virtual slit (HTVS™) to deliver high spectral resolution while maintaining high light throughput. Tornado will be debuting the HyperFlux U1 platform for custom spectrometer solutions, and the OCTANE spectrometer-on-chip for OCT and similar applications, as well as exhibit- ing the S4 hyperspectral imaging system. Tornado operates within markets including defense and security, environmental, bio- medical, industrial, and process analytics. Powered by Tornado Solutions Tornado Spectral Systems is introducing the HyperFlux U1 platform for custom spec- trometer solutions. The HyperFlux U1 is a high performance, HTVS-enabled design that can be applied to a wide range of VIS/NIR application needs. HyperFlux solutions incorporate Tornado's patented HTVS technology to maximize system per- formance. With no photon left behind, HyperFlux spectrometers deliver unparal- leled sensitivity. Tornado Spectral Systems is also intro- ducing the OCTANE commercial OCT spectrometer-on-chip solution. It is a high- speed 3D imaging with a high resolution spectrometer inside. Tornado's OCTANE meets commercial OCT industry specifica- tions and uses integrated optics instead of freespace components as its optical core. This fully integrated nanophotonics system delivers equiva- lent freespace optical perform- ance at a fraction of the size. The S4 HTVS-enabled hyperspectral imager elimi- nates design compromise by decoupling spectral resolution and slit width. The S4 hyperspectral imager achieves the same spectral resolution as a traditional imaging system while using a wider slit, or can reach higher resolutions with the same slit width. "We have come a long way since the debut of our first product at Photonics West last year," said Dr. Bradley Schmidt, CEO of Tornado Spectral Systems. "The intellec- tual property, technical expertise, and brand recognition we have amassed has allowed us to forge exceptional relationships with some of the most prominent names in the field of spectroscopy, and has focused our growth with established companies in fields such as microspectroscopy, stand-off spec- troscopy, SERS, SORS, PAT, and others." "By all measures, Tornado Spectral Systems has created disruptive innovation and is poised to become a major player in optical spectroscopy," said Edward Albe, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Tornado Spectral Systems is headquar- tered at 555 Richmond Street West, Suite 705, P.O. Box 218, Toronto, Ontario, M5V 3B1, Canada (+1-416-361-3444) and has a United States wholly owned subsidiary located at 2359 North Triphammer Road, Ithaca, N.Y., 14850, U.S.A. (+1-607-379- 6185). For further information, visit booth 8735 at Photonics West BiOS 2013 and booth 5311 in North Hall D at Photonics West 2013. OPTIMAX: INNOVATION FOR MORE THAN QUICK DELIVERY OPTICS By Rick Plympton, CEO, Optimax Optimax; we are the team that brings you "prototype optics in one week," specializing in small volume, high quality and quick delivery. This has been our bread and butter for more than 20 years, and while we remain commit- ted to providing this unique service, Optimax has continued to grow by developing capabilities for high preci- sion and asphere optics manufacturing. We are proud to announce the launch of our new logo and look. Optimax's new look represents our high-tech innovation and collaborative spirit for creating manufacturing solutions for tomorrow's demanding applications, and as one of America's largest optics manufacturers, Optimax provides full cycle support for orders from prototype to full rate production. 20 Years of Growth and Development More than 20 years ago, Optimax start- ed operations in a barn in Webster, N.Y. with a single mission: to grind and pol- ish optical components. Today, we stay true to these roots while expanding and taking on challenging projects to meet emerging market needs. In 2012, we added 50-plus new employees to our workforce increasing our employee base to more than 200 employees, as well as continuing a $7.5 million dollar expansion to our facili- ties adding 20,000 square-feet and high-tech equipment. This year we will be expanding our coating facilities to enhance our capabilities for large diam- eter optics (up to 500mm) and deep UV and IR coatings. Advanced Capabilities We've invested in the processes and equipment that will bring you these additional and enhanced capabilities: Fractional Wave Aspheres with stitch- ing interferometers and uncertainty analysis, production capacity with lean manufacturing cells, uniform coating with deep UV (193 – 300nm) and IR (2.0 – 6.0 microns), and innovative research projects such as the elimina- tion of mid-spatial frequency signa- tures and fine finishing for high-energy lasers. Our Continued Mission We are set up to manufacture, test and deliver with the greatest speed and per- formance to meet customer's program requirements. Optimax's reputation for reliability and speed has allowed us to become America's largest prototype optics manufacturer. Our continued mission is to be the fastest while offer- ing you more innovation and capabili- ties. We hope you will be able to join us and celebrate. Stop by booth 730 and enter to win $1,000 towards your next prototype optics order. For more information, go to www.optimaxsi.com or contact the company at sales@optimaxsi.com.
