14 OUTDOOR DÉCOR KITCHENWARE NEWS & HOUSEWARES REVIEW n FEBRUARY 2014 n www.kitchenwarenews.com Kathryn McCoy Design Gives Back Kathryn McCoy Design Gives Back Charity and giving back are creeds that Kathryn McCoy Design is all about. Since opening its doors nearly three years ago, Owner and Designer Kathryn McCoy has donated a multitude of her designs to a variety of charities and events. "If I am able to help raise funds and awareness to others in need, I wholeheartedly embrace it with gusto. Being in a position where others are willing to donate large sums of money to bid on my products at charities and fundraisers only encourages me to give more," said McCoy. Kathryn McCoy Design has donated products to various not-for-profit organizations and schools. These organizations work hard to raise funds to help those in need, and in doing so, typically have charity events with silent auctions offering high-end donations to help meet their goals. Kathryn McCoy Design has donated lamps (retailing at over $6,000) and sculptures (retailing at over $7,500) to a multitude of organizations such as the Sharp Healthcare Foundation, Angels Foster Family Network and The Gillispie School. In fact, in 2011, Kathryn McCoy Design hosted a cocktail party to raise funds for a children's organization in need of foster care. It had the event deliciously catered with a handsome wait-staff wearing tuxedos and serving specially named cocktails. At this event, it donated for auction over 10 pieces of product and was able to raise a large amount of funds for the not-for-profit organization. McCoy said, "My staff and I had a great time putting the cocktail party together. We offered some of our best products that were put up for auction and we were absolutely pleased with the results. I have always believed in charitable giving and am even more focused on giving to organizations that help children in need." In 2014, Kathryn McCoy Design will donate 10 percent of its May proceeds to the Angels Foster Family Network. Kathryn McCoy will create a special votive design that will be sent to each customer that writes an order in the month of May. Kathryn McCoy Design products are a constant feature in Elle Décor, Architectural Digest, Veranda, House Beautiful and other major international publications. All Kathryn McCoy Design products are made by hand in their San Diego, Calif. design studio location. All products are made-to-order and have a 4-6 week lead time. The Phillips Collection 877.PHILLIPS www.phillipscollection.com ART AND CRAFT MEET IN QUATTRO MURE E DUE CASE Alessi USA, Inc. is bringing out the "Quattro mure e due case" tray as a first project from Michele De Lucchi for the Crusinallo Company. "Four walls and two cottages" is a rectangular bamboo tray that takes the form of a country landscape. It's "a little rustic, a little frugal, a little agricultural, and a little rural," as Alessi describes it. De Lucchi is an architect who is one of the main protagonists of radical architectural movements such as Cavarat, Alchimia and Memphis. Since 2004, he has sculpted small wooden cottages that express the essence of his style. Quattro mure e due case is an expression of De Lucchi's search for materials that age well, since time is the greatest artist there is, and its effect on the surfaces of things is inimitable. He believes in accepting the natural essence of these materials and keeping their authenticity intact. Alessi will be in booth #S3062 at the International Home + Housewares Show.
