Gaming News Friday, March 27, 2020 8 The Role of Automation in Slot Floor Analysis For most land-based casino operators in the United States, the number of tasks staff must complete to remain competi- tive is only increasing. At the same time, staff must to do more with less – as the majority of properties are consolidating casino teams into smaller and smaller units, significantly increasing the work- load one must manage in their role. In addition, casino staff often wear a lot of hats; from executing strategic plans, managing financials and interacting with guests, to negotiating deals with vendors, coaching staff and providing high-value analysis across the games on the floor. This time-starved environment has driv- en operators to look toward technology to help alleviate the rising demand. The VizExplorer ® Slot Recommendation Engine, an automated slot analysis solution, bridges the gap by helping slot operators automatically identify new game changes and calculate expected lift to drive incremental slot revenue while spending less time analyz- ing their slot floor. The solution was designed to aggregate the vast quantities of accounting and player level data gen- erated by an operator's slot system, and identify new changes based on patterns and anomalies outside of standard analy- sis. The average slot performance man- ager spends upwards of 72 hours every month crunching numbers and building reports, with the ultimate goal of reach- ing an actionable decision. This desire manifests itself through reports that become so repetitive that they begin to lose meaning and simply stack upon each other month- over-month. These reports include everything from manufacturer, denom and section break- down analysis to bank-by-bank and game-by-game analysis. Each operator puts their own unique twist on the analy- sis with the overarching goal being the same – to provide a list of 10-20 percent of the floor that, if changed in a meaning- ful way, could drive incremental revenue across the property. The vast number of possible slot report variations combined with the non- analytical demands placed upon gaming operations ultimately drive many to focus in on narrowly targeted reports and analysis that become the foundation and backbone of their game change initia- tives. This narrow focus, while driven by necessity, also opens the possibility of missing opportuni- ties that do not fit within the consis- tent behavior corri- dor. These chal- lenges do not even account for the sheer time necessary to truly analyze games and players in con- junction with each other. Working with dozens of casino oper- ators, VizExplorer built the Slot Recommendation Engine to automate the entire process, analyzing each section individually for add, removal, move and conversion recommendations. With the VizExplorer Slot Recommendation Engine, slot operators can get the slot floor analysis they need while getting valuable time back in their day to focus on other important tasks and day-to-day responsibilities. Excel Dryer Offers One-Stop Hand Hygiene An interview with William Gagnon, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Excel Dryer, Inc. GN: What is Excel Dryer all about? WG: Excel Dryer is a family-owned, Massachusetts-based company that's been manufacturing the finest American-made hand dryers for more than 50 years. We revolutionized the industry with the origi- nal, patented, high-speed, energy-efficient XLERATOR ® Hand Dryer that created the high-speed hand dryer category, and we continue to develop sustainable, cost- effective hand-hygiene solutions. GN: How do your products benefit restaurants? WG: A restaurant's restrooms can signif- icantly impact the guests' experience, positively or negatively. To a customer, paper towels littered on the floor or clog- ging toilets signal an unclean establish- ment. As one restaurateur stated, 'Your restrooms have to be as clean as your kitchen,'; if they're not, guests will won- der about what else isn't clean. Our high- efficiency hand dryers eradicate these problems, providing an environmentally friendly alternative while cutting mainte- nance costs by a typical 95 percent over paper towels. What's more, XLERATOR dries hands three times faster than con- ventional hand dryers, meaning less time in the restroom and more at the table. GN: Talk about what's next in green rest- room design. WG: The D|13 Sink System, our latest collaboration with D|13 Group and Gensler, is the future of commercial rest- rooms and the most hygienic, sustainable and cost-effective system on the market for washing and drying hands. High-effi- ciency fixtures for soap and water are all mounted on the sink deck, providing the ultimate user experience. It is customiz- able in size, shape and material, allowing designers to completely change and ele- vate the aesthetic of the restroom. GN: What advantages does the system offer? WG: First would be quiet convenience. The integration of all three components, each with an auto sensor for a no-touch experience, means hand hygiene has never been simpler. Then, there is the sound reduction; the decorative air outlet is deck mounted, but the motor is underneath, equipped with a sound-suppression air delivery system that significantly reduces decibel levels. Combined with the adjustable speed and sound options avail- able with every XLERATOR dryer, you've got the quietest high-efficiency drying sys- tem available. The drying system also offers superior hygiene, with HEPA filtra- tion that filters bacteria from the air and a reversed airflow that blows the water off the user's hands into the sink basin instead of on their clothes or the sink deck. GN: How would you describe the look of the system? WG: Like its performance, the system's aesthetic is unparalleled. We've heard it called sleek, modern and beautiful, with a feel of both high-end luxury and under- stated simplicity. That versatility is by design. We set out to build a sink system that would enhance the look of any estab- lishment's restroom, and with the D|13 Sink System, that's just what's been accomplished.
