While most of the products showcased at
the
99th annual National Restaurant As-
sociation Show in Chicago in May were
designed for restaurant and food service
use, a number of this year's FABI award
winners were for retail foods. The FABI
Awards, presented by the National
Restaurant Association, celebrate the
most creative, marketable and tasty food-
service
products.
Grecian Delights of Elk Grove Village,
Illinois, earned two awards: one for its
falafel fritters, and one for its labna-based
garlic sauce. The fritters can be fried or
baked and are suitable for service at break-
fast, lunch, dinner and for snacks, and are
currently available at Whole Foods,
Sprouts and other retailers. They are clean-
label, vegan and kosher. The garlic sauce,
based on a traditional sauce for shawarma,
is thick and heady with raw garlic, with a
180-day shelf life. More information at
www.greciandelight.com.
Seascape Foods also won a falafel FABI,
for its frozen falafels that include vegeta-
bles. Fast and easy to prepare, they add a
bit of additional nutrition to a traditional
favorite. Visit www.seascapeinc.net for
more information.
Another double award winner was
Brooklyn Delhi, which won FABIs for both
its roasted garlic achaar, and for
its tomato achaar. Both condi-
ments feature flavor profiles in-
spired by Indian tradition; learn
more at www.brooklyndelhi.com.
Yet another double FABI win-
ner was Sud 'N' Sol, for its red
pepper spread with Mediter-
ranean spices and its roasted
tomato spread. Both are ready
to serve and easy to use, with
clean labels. See more at
www.sudnsol.com.
Èspresso 1882 from Caffè
Vergnano comes in compostable
pods, to provide quality espresso
with reduced guilt. For more in-
formation, visit www.caffever
gnano.com.
Beyond Sausage and Impossi-
ble Burger both won prizes for
vegan products said to satisfy even carni-
vores'
appetites. Beyond Sausage offers
three flavors — Original Bratwurst, Sweet
Italian and Hot Italian in its vegan
sausages. For more information, visit
www.beyondmeat.com. Impossible™
Burger, from Impossible Foods, is a patty
made from wheat protein, coconut oil,
potato protein and legheme — a heme
produced
from legumes that gives Impos-
sible Burger its red, juicy appear-
ance. Learn more at
www.impossiblefoods.com.
Love Beets took home a FABI
for its new beet salsa, which com-
bines green peppers, onion,
jalapeño and cilantro for a lightly
spicy salsa with a touch of sweet-
ness. More information at
www.lovebeets.com.
Nona Lim won for its Shiitake
Bone Broth, a clean label bone
broth packaged in a 10-ounce
heat and sip cup. It's based on
grass-fed, organic beef broth
with shiitakes and ginger to
bump up the flavor. See more at
www.nonalim.com.
Sabatino Tartufi's truffled soy sauce adds
a new twist to traditional dishes, and adds
umami to rice, sushi, edamame and more.
Find out more at www.sabatinotruffles.com.
Sweet Street took a FABI for its Manifesto
gluten-free brownies. Individually
wrapped, the brownies are made with dark
Honduran chocolate from a woman-owned
cocoa collective and cage-free eggs. More
at www.sweetstreet.com.
Chicago-based Eli's Cheesecake Com-
pany won a FABI for its Florentine Honey
Almond Bar, made in small batches with
honey harvested by students from the
Chicago High School for Agricultural Sci-
ences. Proceeds from honey sales fund col-
lege scholarships at the school, so your
indulgence is helping kids continue their
education. Learn more at www.elicheese

"Chavez for Charity has been a longtime
supporter of the Matthew Shepard Foun-
dation's work towards erasing hate, and
for that we are very thankful. I'm excited
to be at the Las Vegas Market and to fi-
nally be meeting folks in the gift indus-
try family."
The 2018 Up On the Roof event will be
held on Monday, July 30, from 6 p.m. to
8 p.m., in the WorldView Ballroom on the
16th Floor of Building B. Party-goers will
enjoy a full bar, hors d'oeuvres, dancing,
a silent auction, entertainment and an op-
portunity to purchase The Chavez for
Charity Matthew Shepard 20th anniver-
sary commemorative bracelets and
"ERASE HATE" t-shirts. Up on the Roof
tickets, which cost $25 each, or five for
$100, are available online at
https://splashthat.com/sites/view/upon-
theroof2018.splashthat.com and at spe-
cially-designated kiosks onsite in the
Grand Plaza, C10 and in the Pavilions
during Las Vegas Market. Proceeds from
the 2018 event will benefit DIFFA: Design
Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS and
The Matthew Shepard Foundation.
Held annually at the Summer Market, the
popular Up on the Roof fundraiser typically
draws a crowd of some 300 to 500 industry
executives, who join together to eat, drink,
dance, network and raise funds for the in-
dustry's chosen charity in a spectacular set-
ting. In 2017, Las Vegas Market's "Up on
the Roof" raised more than $15,000 to ben-
efit Gift For Life.
Las Vegas Market is the nation's fastest
growing gift and home décor market and
the leading furniture marketplace in the
western U.S., presenting 4,300-plus gift,
home décor and furniture resources in an
unrivaled market destination. Las Vegas
Market features thousands of gift, furniture
and home décor lines, allowing for cross-
category commerce among these industries.
The Summer 2018 Las Vegas Market runs
July 29 to August 2, 2018. For more infor-
mation, visit www.lasvegasmarket.com.
