EdTech Show Daily Monday, June 25, 2018 8 Put Students at the Center of the Classroom with QOMO Interactive Technology By Michael Swierz, Educational Committee, QOMO Student Work at the Center At heart, teaching is an activity centered on the place where learning begins and ends: the students themselves. Teaching practices and curriculum that speak directly to students help make school rel- evant for their lives, encouraging them to retain lesson content and successfully apply the knowledge they learn to their daily lives. QOMO inter- active class- room solutions offer easy tools to build student-centered classrooms and self- paced curriculum by allowing both stu- dents and teachers to wirelessly display wide-ranging work on QOMO's high- definition LED interactive panels, through the use of our QConnect wireless sharing device. QConnect A cross-platform, wireless screen sharing device, QConnect Wireless Interactive Presentation System allows every student in class to broadcast their own work before their peers from anywhere in the room. As many as 40 students (plus the teacher) can simultaneously connect their smartphones, tablets, laptops or any other mobile device, and the teacher can choose as many as four different students to appear on the board at once. With a built-in Android annotation overlay on both the Journey interactive panel and the QConnect Plus, teachers can visually comment on student work. Best of all, QConnect is not limited to any single brand of technology: iPads, Android devices, Chromebooks and Windows computers can connect alike as part of a seamlessly integrated BYOD classroom environment. Student-Centered Success For over a decade, QOMO has gone to great lengths to provide classrooms across America with engaging and accessible technology that stimulates and captivates students of all ages and subjects. Today's kids spend more time than ever in front of laptops, tablets, cellphones and computers. To learn their best, students need a school environment that is up to date and pace with the high-tech world where they spend most of their lives. Technology not only influences how our students spend time outside of school; it also determines who they are. At QOMO, our goal is to provide leading edge edu- cational equipment that makes class- rooms as "real to life" as the world we are training them to lead. Allen County Technical Center is just one shining example of how QOMO is changing the way our educational system teaches our youth. "The kids are more motivated with the new technology," says teacher Cindy Scott of Allen County, Kentucky. "I like being able to share the students' work on the big screen. I feel like I've come out of the Stone Age into this new technology world." Both in Allen County and many other districts across America, QOMO interactive technology is allowing educators to engage the stu- dents with dynamic lesson presenta- tions, collaborative group projects and greater teamwork. Students feel moti- vated to participate because they see themselves at the center of the school- room, up on the big screen. Portable PA Systems from Anchor Audio Anchor Audio, a leading manufacturer of battery powered portable sound and pub- lic address systems, has launched a new generation of portable PA systems. The new generation of portable sound sys- tems and portable PA systems promise to continue delivering clear, dependable audio and increased simplicity and relia- bility through the implementation of a new wireless platform and using lithium ion batteries for longer battery life and reduced product weight. In response to the FCC's wireless frequency auction along with feedback from channel partners and customers, Anchor Audio created AnchorLink, a wireless platform operating in the less populated and more reliable 1.9 GHz wireless frequency range. It provides wireless range of 300-plus feet, a signifi- cant improvement over the previous 150 feet, on the Bigfoot, Beacon, Liberty, Go Getter, MegaVox and Acclaim. The AN- Mini, MiniVox, AN-1000X+, AN-130+, and CouncilMAN maintain a wireless range of 150-plus feet line of sight. The Automatic Frequency Hopping feature offers an uninterrupted wireless perform- ance, conveniently changing channels when interference is detected. Each optional dual wireless receiver can con- nect up to two wireless microphones. All Anchor Audio PA systems have the capacity for two built-in dual wireless receivers, so customers can now connect up to four wireless microphones. Microphones only need to be paired once to the system, making it more convenient to set up. AnchorLink is available in the Bigfoot, Beacon, Liberty, Go Getter, MegaVox, MiniVox, Acclaim, AN- 1000X+, AN-130+ and CouncilMAN. Anchor Audio has also added lithi- um ion batteries to its rechargeable bat- tery powered portable sound and PA sys- tems. These batteries are rated to last 2,000 cycles, which is a significant improvement in comparison to the previ- ously used Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) bat- tery that was rated for 250 cycles. The reduced weight of the new batteries results in a lighter PA system, increasing the ease of operation. In addition, each battery powered unit also offers an Active Fuel Gauge and a better performing storage battery life. Anchor Audio has increased the bat- tery warranty from two years to four years. Rechargeable lithium ion batteries are available in the Bigfoot, Beacon, Liberty, Go Getter, MegaVox and Acclaim. Anchor Audio portable sound sys- tems and portable PA systems can be used both indoors and outdoors for small and large audiences. Made in the USA and covered by a six-year warranty, cus- tomers can always count on Anchor Audio for a reliable audio solution. ELMO Enters World of Interactive Displays with CRB-2 Interactive Writing Tool ELMO has a longstanding reputation as a global leader in education technology – namely, its industry-leading document cameras are used by millions of educa- tors around the world – but it is about to take the interactive display market by storm with its newest product. ELMO introduces its new CRB-2 Interactive Writing Tool, a plug-and-play solution that turns any surface into an interactive display – and does so for a fraction of the cost of traditional elec- tronic whiteboards. The CRB-2 comes with three main components: a sensor bar, a wireless transmitter and an interactive pen. Together, they turn any surface into an interactive display. Simply attach the CRB-2 sensor bar above a television monitor, projector screen or even onto an empty wall, and the room easily becomes an interactive workspace. The system is managed via wireless transmitter that reaches up to 50 feet, allowing plenty of flexibility for set-up options. Traditional interactive flat panels cost thousands of dollars for a single unit and require permanent installation to the wall of a classroom. The CRB-2 is a cost-friendly solution for schools facing budgetary restraints. For the same cost of converting one classroom with an interactive flat panel, schools could turn at least five classrooms inter- active with CRB-2 units. Additionally, the full CRB-2 system weighs less than 1 pound, making it perfect for on-the-go presenta- tions or moving from one classroom to another as the school's needs change. The CRB-2 Interactive Writing Tool can be used PC-free when paired with your favorite ELMO document camera. With the CRB-2's interactive pen, you can draw, highlight, annotate, erase, create geometric shapes and more. Connect your favorite ELMO document camera to the CRB-2 sys- tem and capture images or record videos while anno- tating your presentation using the ELMO Interactive Toolbox soft- ware. Interested in trying out the CRB-2 Interactive Writing Tool for yourself? See the CRB-2 in action, as well as the rest of ELMO's 2018 New Product Line by visiting ELMO at booth #716.
