GOURMET NEWS www.gourmetnews.com n JUNE 2018 n GOURMET NEWS 5 0 Heavenly Tea Leaves Offers Signature Loose Leaf Teas, Tea Samplers Founded by Noushin Ebrani in 2006, Heav- enly Tea Leaves believes that tea is not just a beverage, it is a way of life. The company specializes in loose leaf teas and tea sam- plers, offering over 150 varieties of loose leaf teas and tisanes. Matt Ebrani, the company's Chief Operat- ing Officer, says they are at SFF to gain ex- posure for the company, grow their brand and of course, create new sales channels and partners. The company is launching a new tea sampler at the 2018 Fancy Food Show. Heavenly Tea Leaves will introduce a unique loose-leaf tea sampler concept catered to re- tail and specialty food stores. Noushin adds, "We love our tea samplers because we feel they are reshaping the way people consume tea in America, specifically loose leaf tea. Traditionally, someone would walk into a tea store, select from a wide range of teas and buy the tea by the weight. What we are doing allows customers to try an assortment of teas, which lets them become more aware of their fla- vor preferences, and at the same time, explore loose-leaf tea options." Heavenly Tea Leaves considers its signature tea samplers to be a specialty. These beautiful custom arrangements make the perfect gift or provide the ideal solution to looking for a new favorite tea. Customers can select from various sets which are categorized by tea type, season or mood. Going green is one of Heavenly Tea Leaves' core commitments. Much of its packaging is crafted from eco- friendly, reusable and recyclable materials. In the spirit of giving back, Heavenly Tea Leaves supports the power of community, annually partnering with a number of local causes. Heavenly Tea Leaves un- derstands that tea touches cultures and fam- ilies around the world, bringing people together in moments of happiness. Divine Chocolate's New Packaging Divine Chocolate, the only chocolate com- pany which is fair trade and co-owned by cocoa farmers, has redesigned its packaging for the first time in five years. The refresh is intended to make the company's bars stand out on shelves and communicate their brand story more effectively. The redesign includes a new embossed "Owned by Cocoa Farmers" seal on the bars. After extensive brand research, Divine Chocolate found that 1 in 10 consumers were more likely to buy Divine Chocolate because of its new seal. Troy Pearley, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Divine Chocolate North America says, "At the end of the day, the reason why people buy Divine Chocolate is because it's seriously good chocolate. Additionally, with our new pack design, we have a strong opportunity to in- spire consumers by highlighting the fact that the farmer ownership model is at the heart of our business." Other modifications to the front of pack design include changing the adinkra symbols to a uniform color so that customers can more easily navigate their range, switching chocolate bar's descriptors' color to white text for improved legibility, and placing cocoa percentages on the front of bars for consumers interested in cocoa content. The back of the bars also include new certifications from The Vegan Society and B Corporation as well as new placement of the Non-GMO Project seal. Additional markers include simplified product claims such as no artificial ingredients, all natural, 100 percent pure cocoa butter, and no palm oil or soy. Black Kassel Introduces New Meat & Cheese Plates The Black Kassel brand of deli meats, known for its old-world craftsmanship of premium salamis, specialty items and pre- packaged sliced meats, now includes gour- met Meat & Cheese Plates. Black Kassel worked with flavor experts to come up with specialty European cheese pair- ings for three of its signature dry aged meats, resulting in D'Amour Salami & Gouda, Old Forest Salami & Butterkäse and Speck & Edam. With attention to ensuring complemen- tary flavors, balancing texture and acidity, these pairings now make it easy for con- sumers to enjoy gourmet meat and cheese combinations that are mouth-wateringly deli- cious. The pairings also reflect consumer pref- erences. Gouda is one of the most popular cheeses in the world, accounting for 50-60 percent of the world's cheese consumption. Butterkäse is one of the fastest growing vari- eties of cheese in the USA, posting more than 18.3 percent in tonnage in 2017. Black Kassel meats, from Piller's Fine Foods, are crafted according to the traditions of artisans living along the Rhein and Mosel rivers, who produced some of Central Eu- rope's finest cured meats. Using old-world techniques and recipes, Black Kassel meats are made with carefully blended spices. Select hardwoods are used to naturally smoke the meats, which are patiently dry aged to per- fection. Black Kassel is also known for its signa- ture shapes, including Old Forest Salami (flower shape), and D'Amour Salami (heart shape). These unique shapes look especially pleasing on charcuterie platters. Black Kassel Meat & Cheese Plates are perfectly portioned for stand-alone snacking pleasure, light lunches or easy entertain- ing. Your customers will love the pre-cut conven- ience and grab-and-go portability. The plates are an excellent source of protein (16g protein per package) and are low in calories (190-260 calories per pack- age). They are gluten-free and free of MSG.
