Vivi is a wireless mirroring solu- tion built specifically for educa- tion that works on every device and every operating platform. Vivi's screen mirroring technolo- gy transforms the classroom into an interactive, collaborative learn- ing space for both teacher and student. With the Vivi wireless presentation solution, teach- ers are now given the freedom to navigate their class- room with no restrictions, engaging with both the screen and the students from any point in the room, increasing student engagement. Vivi makes it simple and easy to switch control between students and their teacher, allowing for a free Vivi: The Simplest Way to a Connected Classroom An interview with Darri Stephens, Director, Community Marketing. ESD: Who is Cue? DS: Cue is the latest addition to our Wonder Workshop CleverBot fami- ly! We were thrilled to introduce Cue this past fall. Cue is designed specifically with middle schoolers in mind and is our most sophisticat- ed CleverBot to date, from its witty personalities (note, plural!), to its robust hardware, to its advanced software. And this year, we will be releasing class- room-specific apps and a brand new curriculum for grades 6-8. An interview with Luis Medina, Robotics Coordinator for the Clear Creek Independent School District in League City, Texas. ESD: Tell our readers about your robotics program. LM: Our program starts in third grade with a project called EARLY (Engineering and Robotics Learn Young). Students create devices using simple machines to solve a challenge. Fourth and fifth graders then utilize the VEX IQ platform to learn some programming and continue developing their mechanical skills. What is Self-Regulated Learning? Students are more likely to increase their knowledge when they approach learning tasks strategically and actively manage their learning. Even young students are capable of regulating their learning to some extent. Self-regulated learning (SRL) is a cyclical process, where students reflect on present per- formance and adjust future work based on feedback from personal, behavioral and environmental factors. Unfortunately, however, many students have sub-optimal levels of self-regulation, which impacts skills in other areas. SRL is associated with a wide range of positive outcomes, including academic success, learning motiva- tion, problem solving abilities and transfer of skills. Focus School Software offers educa- tors the tools necessary to design meaningful assessments and to bet- ter capture and analyze data. Integrated into the Teacher Gradebook, the Focus Assessments Component gives teachers the abili- ty to create a test in the same way that they add assignments. Focus' Create a Test feature is easy to use and offers a multitude of test question types such as multiple choice, true and false, fill in the blank, passages and more. Teachers can create new questions, pull questions from the question bank and even import ExamView tests. Additionally, the Focus Adaptive Test Feature allows for teachers to select Continued on Page 25 1. Lead Times and Inventories When planning your deployment, consider lead times and invento- ries, especially in the busy spring and summer months. Before deciding on a particular cart, find out where the cart is manufac- tured. If it is built overseas, it's not unusual to have lead times of two to three months. Instead, look for for U.S.-built carts and manufacturers with high inventories. 2.
