EdTech Show Daily 1 1 Friday, January 26, 2018 Sennheiser Presents AMBEO SMART HEADSET Sennheiser has debuted its intuitive, compact and mobile 3D recording head- set – the AMBEO SMART HEADSET. This ingenious new device captures immersive 3D audio with unparallelled simplicity. Binaural audio recordings created with the AMBEO SMART HEADSET deliver a true-to-life 3D experience – placing the listener inside the soundscape as it was experienced, while exhibiting natural spatial charac- teristics. Sennheiser has once again partnered with audio interface manufacturer Apogee for the creation of this headset, which captures incredibly detailed and realistic recordings. This is achieved through two omni-directional micro- phones integrated in the ear pieces. These two microphones work alongside a pre- mium A/D converter, mic preamp and SoftLimit from Apogee, capturing the subtle differences in timing, volume and timbre that occur as sounds from differ- ent directions reach each ear. When played back on headphones, the result is a lifelike audio experience in picture-per- fect fidelity, placing the listener in the exact, original sound field – whether they are capturing a buzzing city or a tranquil forest. The AMBEO SMART HEADSET lets users record in 3D directly onto Apple iOS devices featuring a Lightning connector. Users can now create immer- sive 3D audio that matches the high- quality video that is available on most mobile devices. It also complements the convenience and simplicity of the mobile device experience, making the spontaneous capture of three-dimen- sional sound as easy as shooting a high- definition video. "With this new headset, you can use your iOS device's camera to record, experience and relive the same balance of three-dimensional sound and 180-degree visual perspective that we as human beings are accustomed to in our percep- tion of the world," explains Dr. Andreas Sennheiser, co-Chief Executive Officer, Sennheiser. "Sound is crucial to how we understand the space around us, and the AMBEO SMART HEADSET lets you record this sense of depth, detail and real- ism." Daniel Sennheiser, co-Chief Executive Officer, Sennheiser, adds: "Together the AMBEO SMART HEADSET and your mobile device can become powerful creative tools for cap- turing your world in an entirely new way." Samson Go Mic Mobile – Adding Superior Audio to Smartphone Videos The rise of DIY YouTube channels, the social media explosion, video blogging, mobile journalism and electronic news gathering have led to a revolution in video content; content often self-pro- duced on tablets and smartphones. While the pixel count, lens quality and process- ing power of smartphone cameras have reached dazzling new heights, the onboard audio quality hasn't really kept pace. That's where the Samson Go Mic Mobile comes in. Billed as the first Professional Wireless System for Mobile Video, the Samson Go Mic Mobile is an enhanced audio capture system created for today's on-the-go producers. Combining proven microphone expert- ise and innovative wireless technology, Samson has created an easy-to-use package that delivers a dramatic improvement in voice clarity and audio fidelity. The Go Mic Mobile system is available paired with either the Samson Q8 wireless handheld dynamic micro- phone transmitter, or with the Samson LM8 lavalier microphone and wireless beltpack transmitter. Either micro- phone option can be purchased individ- ually and added on to create a cus- tomized dual-mic configuration. Choose a mixed stereo signal, or output each channel separately to ease post- production down the line. "The Go Mic Mobile offers superi- or audio quality that lets me go live con- fidently at a moment's notice," says YouTube marketing maven Derral Eves. Certified by YouTube for Audience Growth, Eves is a video marketing con- sultant who has worked with some of the biggest brands in the world. "I pro- duce an enormous amount of video con- tent, and this system is fantastic for con- ducting my one-on-one interviews. Plus, the Go Mic Mobile is simple to use, making it the perfect choice for any video blogger." Samson USB microphones gave voice to the podcasting crowd, and its original Go Mic changed the face of VOIP and webcam communications. Now, with the Go Mic Mobile, Samson is set to revolutionize the way mobile content creators capture audio for video. Take for example, a property such as color. Color can address a number of usability and consumer acceptance issues. Color not only makes products more attractive, but also can provide important indicators of function. Color has long been known to impact emotions. While bright, vivid colors can tend to be attractive and invigorating, cooler colors such as blue and green have a calming effect. Color can also alert a customer to proper usability. For example, what is the top; what is the bottom? Opposing colors can provide this clue. Instructions can also be indexed with color to ensure proper understanding. One of the challenges from a materi- als perspective when considering the property of color is to create parts that are "of true color" consistently. Trinseo offers a solution to customers with its Trinseo (Cont'd. from p. 6) acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) – its MAGNUM™ ABS Resins – which are produced using the company's pro- prietary mass polymerization technology. This method of production results in exceptional whiteness in the base materi- al, which is ideal for achieving colors that are as vivid or as light as they are meant to be. Whether pure ABS is used or if it's blended with polycarbonate (PC) for additional performance properties, the Trinseo material provides a distinct advantage. Expanding Your Multimetric Accountability with Perception Surveys: A Systematic Approach By Dr. Ryan Balch, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, My Student Survey Accountability plans expand our defini- tion of school and student success to include test scores and a consideration of other aspects of student learning and school environment that comprise a high- level, quality education. ESSA requires that all measures be broken down by stu- dent subgroups, such as demographic data like ethnicity and gender or program participation like free and reduced lunch or IEP. Certain surveys are more easily aggregated and disaggregated than oth- ers. For example, student perception of instruction, parent engagement and stu- dent or parent perception of school cli- mate and safety can typically be easily broken out by these subgroups, because the results are easily related back to demographic data. Staff engagement surveys, while valuable, are typically not disaggregatable by student sub- groups. However, you can only aggregate or disaggregate data that you collect. Many survey solutions require you to directly ask for demographic data, which can cause students and parents to feel target- ed or experience survey fatigue, particu- larly if they have to complete several sur- veys. On the other hand, some districts like to use surveys to gather self-reported demographics. An effective survey solu- tion provides both options: a method for connecting the responses to demographic and other student data you already have while preserving the anonymity of the responses or simply including demo- graphic questions in the survey instru- ment. Further, if you plan to administer multiple surveys each year (say, stu- dent perception of instruction for each class, school climate and parent engagement), you want a solution that makes this easy. To truly get useful comparative value, you want to ask the same questions for each administration, year over year. A strong survey solution ensures that you can re-use sur- vey instruments and that you can get reports that not only show you this year's results, but compare to previous years to form a complete pic- ture. Scantron and My Student Survey have teamed up to provide you with an easily administratable solution that captures and reports on data year over year. You can use our researched and validated survey instruments for class- room and school-level surveys or con- vert an existing survey to our system and make your current survey more actionable.
