EdTech Show Daily Wednesday, January 24, 2018 6 Matias Releases Worthy Successor to Computer Manufacturer's Recently Discontinued Wired Keyboard The Matias Wired Aluminum Keyboard for Mac has a built-in USB 2.0 hub and precision volume dial. "The new vol- umev dial is perfect for users with exter- nal speakers, giving you four times finer control over the volume. That's 64 vol- ume levels, compared to the 16 levels you get from the volume keys," said Chief Executive Officer Edgar Matias. The keyboard is available in a wide range of international layouts (US, EU, Asian) and can be ordered now. The Matias Wired Aluminum Keyboard is available for $59 (US) from Matias and authorized resellers. Matias makes other keyboards as well, and has been manufacturing key- boards for over 15 years. The Matias Backlit Wireless Aluminum Keyboard, which comes in silver or space gray, is a high-end slim aluminum keyboard with number pad. It has the ability to pair to four different devices and easily switch between them. It features backlighting, with 10 levels of brightness control. The keyboard has two rechargeable batteries: one for the key- board operation itself that lasts up to a year before needing to be recharged, and a separate one for the backlighting that lasts up to two weeks before needing to be recharged. This ensures that you can keep typing even if your backlight bat- tery gets drained. Matias is also known for its high performance mechanical keyboards, made with its own mechanical switches. Mechanical keyboards made by Matias include the classic Tactile Pro Keyboard for Mac, the Quiet Pro Keyboard (which gives you mechanical typing without the noise normally associ- ated with mechanical keyboards) and the separated Ergo Pro Keyboard, for the ulti- mate in ergonomic typing and comfort. Focusing on Special Student Services Focus School Software understands dis- tricts need a software platform that allows them to effortlessly manage stu- dents who qualify for specially designed services and instruction. Focus' Special Student Services (SSS) module provides districts with necessary tools to support students through many facets of the spe- cial education process. The SSS module offers a customiz- able platform in which districts can design and maintain desired program workflow in a wide variety of areas, including: early identification, response to intervention and early warning track- ing, section 504 eligibility, formal and informal evaluations, individualized edu- cation plans, progress monitoring, event management, student caseload, customiz- able form builder technology and more. Educators and school-based profes- sionals have the ability to create and cus- tomize events under three main pro- grams: Response to Intervention (RtI), Section 504 and Special Education (IEP, evaluations). The Focus SSS Student Event Management system allows dis- tricts to set requirements on each individ- ual program event to help guide the end user through the special services process with ease. The system provides for users to receive Portal Alerts, an area for uploads and like all Focus solutions, spe- cific user profiles for secure program access. In addition, the included Form Builder is a user-friendly tool that allows districts to build, customize and maintain all forms relevant to the special student services process. Once forms are created, districts will have the ability to link these forms to appropriate events and event steps through the SSS set-up menu. Through Form Builder technology, each district has the opportunity to utilize and store forms specific to their unique processes and desired workflow. The Focus SSS Form Builder validation edit feature allows the district to set up valida- tion logic for each indi- vidual form. Once validation logic is established, the interactive form will serve as a compliance guide for the end user. The Form Builder also includes features like form widgets, customizable headers and footers, built-in calendar and more. Sennheiser Presents AMBEO 3D Audio Technology Early in 2016, Sennheiser unveiled a strategic focus on 3D immersive audio, a groundbreaking holistic solution called AMBEO that promises the ultimate in audio capture and reproduction. "3D audio is the new frontier of excel- lence, set to transform the listening experi- ence for users across a broad range of applications, from virtual reality gaming to audio recording and broadcasting," said Sennheiser's co-Chief Executive Officers Daniel Sennheiser and Dr. Andreas Sennheiser. "We have been active in this area for some time with 9.1 mixing and recording and the audio design for high- profile exhibitions. We are now increasing our efforts considerably to introduce this amazing sound quality into new products and applications, enabling users to experi- ence and shape the future of audio." Taking Installations to the Next Level Sennheiser has been making original 9.1 recordings since 2010 and has promoted these activities at audio gatherings, work- shops and tradeshows around the globe. The company has since used its AMBEO trademark as an umbrella for its immer- sive audio products and activities. In the course of this work, a tonmeister-quality AMBEO upmix algorithm was also developed to turn legacy stereo material into stunning 9.1 music. High-profile museum installations have featured Sennheiser's work with the 3D audio format, including the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London – the world's leading museum of art, design and performance. The V&A's internationally successful "David Bowie is" exhibition, which saw 1.7 million vis- itors on the global tour as of August 2017, and the "You Say You Want a Revolution? Records and Rebels 1966 – 1970" touring exhibition both used AMBEO sound installations that fully envelop visitors in sound and music, establish- ing a completely new type of museum experi- ence. AMBEO 3D Audio was also used for "The Pink Floyd Exhibition: Their Mortal Remains." The exhibition features an AMBEO installa- tion in a dedicated Performance Zone, where a unique 17-channel remix of "Comfortably Numb" is played back over a total of 25 loudspeakers. 3D Products Sennheiser's first AMBEO consumer product is the recently announced AMBEO SMART HEADSET, a compact earphone for immersive 3D audio record- ing that lets consumers capture and listen to binaural audio recordings on their smartphones with unprecedented sim- plicity. Binaural audio delivers an immersive 3D experience, placing the listener inside the soundscape and repli- cating the direction of sounds and spatial characteristics of a given environment. The AMBEO VR Mic provides high-quality 3D audio that eliminates the boundaries between play- back and reality. The com- pact handheld Ambisonics microphone comes with everything need- ed for creating professional virtual-reali- ty sound. AMBEO Music Blueprints AMBEO Music Blueprints is a dedicated website that explores how to record, mix and deliver live music as an immersive 3D audio experience. At www.sennheiser. com/ambeo-blueprints, three Blueprints – AMBEO for Loudspeakers, AMBEO for Binaural and AMBEO for Virtual Reality – provide straightforward information on recording set-ups and microphone posi- tioning, mixing with additional spot microphones, and delivery and playback for a 3D listening experience.
