Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Black Friday, Everyone! Our readers are among the blessings that our en- tire staff of Kitchenware News, Gourmet News and the newly-launched Snacking News are grateful for, both at Thanksgiving and throughout the year. As we celebrate this winter's holiday sea- son, let's also remember the folks who are still struggling with the outcomes of three disastrous hurricanes as well as devastat- ing wildfires across northern California. Please also remember that thoughts and prayers are very important, but they're not enough if you can also find a way to lend a hand. In this month's issue of Gourmet News, you'll find front-page coverage of two grocery chains that have found ways to help their neighbors in Florida and Texas, and of course, there are other gro- cery chains around the country that are reaffirming their roles as hometown he- roes by raising funds to help. Kitchen- ware retailers are hometown heroes too – every time I ask one of our readers how they're involved in their communi- ties, they have right at the top of their minds the many ways in which they're involved in supporting their local schools, drives to feed the hungry and all kinds of other efforts to make their communities nicer places to live for everyone. They're never afraid to point out that they don't just do business in their communities, they also live there and share their fortunes. Read more about that in the profile of Willey's Store that you'll find in this issue. While we regret the realities of bad times, bad weather and hungry neighbors, it's al- ways a pleasure to share how our readers are helping to make them better. If you've got a story about how you're helping your community that you'd like to share with us and our readers, please don't hesitate to drop us a line to editor @oser.com. You won't be bragging – you'll be helping to share the joy and the bless- ings of community that are just as real as all the world's hurricanes and conflagra- tions. Blessings to you and yours!
