Wireless World 1 3 Thursday, September 14, 2017 OPCOM Farm Makes Indoor Gardening as Easy as Plant, Pick & Plate OPCOMLink USA announced its OPCOM Farm indoor gardening sys- tems, which enables anyone to easily grow their favorite vegetables, herbs, sprouts and fruits inside their homes, year-round. The GrowBox and GrowWall mod- els couple OPCOM's soil-free, hydro- ponic growing technology with propri- etary color LED lighting tuned for opti- mal plant growth. These next generation indoor gardens enable 25 percent faster growth cycles, and eliminate the chal- lenges of weeding, pests and weather normally associated with outdoor gar- dening. GrowBox, a tabletop system incor- porating four multi-wavelength LED lamps, is able to grow up to 50 plants at a time. GrowWall offers a space-saving vertical design with advanced LED tubes that support up to 75 plants displayed on five different levels. Both models use approximately 90 percent less water than traditional outdoor gardening, offering an environmentally friendly way to grow. "Our gardening systems combine advanced lighting, water management and horticulture know-how, making it easy and fun to grow produce that is even fresher than farm-to-table; we call it Farm-on-Table," said Rajeev Mishra, Vice President and General Manager of OPCOMLink USA. "Given the overall concerns around eating safe and healthy fruits and vegetables, OPCOM Farm offers customers convenient and afford- able solutions to personally grow clean and fresh food the entire year." The GrowBox and GrowWall are priced at $499 and $599 respectively. The GrowBox is available at opcomfarm.com and Amazon. "You don't have to be a gardener to enjoy our products," Mishra says. "We are finding a lot of interest among urban dwellers, conscious consumers looking for pesticide free and non-GMO produce, and parents wanting to nurture an interest in their kids for healthy eating. It's also a great option for seniors and others who would like to garden without the physical toll." Given their impressive water conser- vation and zero carbon footprint, such systems are considered a highly sustain- able way to grow. "Hydroponics is the future of farming and food production," Mishra maintains, "and OPCOM is com- mitted to being at the forefront of this revolution." About OPCOM OPCOMLink USA Inc., based in Costa Mesa, California, is OPCOM's regional sales and marketing headquarters for the Americas. How Video Helps Slash Number of Disputed Claims SmartWitness recently monitored the impact of FNOL (first notification of loss) cameras in 3,000 commercial vehi- cles and noted that disputed claims had reduced by 38 percent. The world-leading designer, manu- facturer and supplier of in-vehicle cam- era systems found that around 40 percent of all motor insurance claims are disput- ed when there is no video evidence. This figure drops to around 2 percent when vehicles are fitted with FNOL cam- eras. Major benefits included significant improvements in driver behavior and a 19 percent reduction in the number of incidents that resulted in insurance claims. The amount of time spent on the claims where the driver was at fault was significantly reduced, which led to a huge reduction in legal costs. The Connected Camera Solution The SmartWitness CP1 forward-facing camera was the central piece of hardware for the scheme and it fits neatly to the inside of the top of the windshield. SmartWitness Chief Executive Officer Paul Singh said, "We were the first company to provide an FNOL video solution for commercial fleets. With our system, fleet operators and insurers can have incident data within seconds. The CP1 camera provides high quality footage and data that gives all the proof they need to fight any claims." The CP1 has a 170-degree HD cam- era, as well as G-shock sensors which are triggered to any incident and immediate- ly send video footage detailing incident data – speed, force of impact, location, date and time – to the fleet operator and/or insurer via AT&T/Verizon/Sprint cellular networks. The CP1 works alongside a business's current technology, delivering incident notification and video via email or directly into the fleet's track- ing/telematics system. Lower Costs and Faster Repairs FNOL helps fleet operators and insurers to slash costs because they know exactly who is to blame for an incident seconds after it happens. It allows the parties to order repairs immediately and limits added costs associated with any claim. The FNOL video footage provides irrefutable witness evidence to help ensure claims are settled on a fair basis and root out fraud. The removal of any uncertainty allows fleet operators and insurers to combat and avoid fraudulent claims. All parties – including the police if necessary – can then be alerted imme- diately. The simplest way to weed out fraud- ulent claims is to stop them at source – by showing fraud has been caught on camera and any fraudulent claim is likely to result in police action. This would not be possible without the cam- era technology from SmartWitness. Taking Back Control The fleet operator has full knowledge and control over the incident footage and data. All data and video is delivered directly via email or their tracking/telem- atics system so that they can track and monitor their vehicles while protecting their driver, vehicle, insurance premium and loss ratio. In the event of an incident, fleet operators and/or their insurance claims team receive instantaneous alerts and have instant access to on-board footage in order to identify the responsi- ble party and possible fraudsters.
