By Syed Zaeem Hosain 'Z', Chief Technology Officer and Founder Connected Devices, Connected World In the second edition of the popular Aeris eBook, "The Definitive Guide: The Internet of Things for Business," Aeris continues to focus on how the burgeoning Internet of Things (IoT) / machine-to-machine (M2M) ecosystem can be used by business for effi- ciencies and profit. In addition to providing real-time information on devices in the field, IoT lets companies control devices from a central location. This allows compa- nies to employ IoT for applications as diverse as helping medical professionals care for more patients, or giving retailers the ability to customize advertising to a single indi- vidual, or providing fleet managers with vehicle and driver insights. The extensive reach of Internet of Things (IoT) applications are creating new busi- ness opportunities, providing new markets for existing businesses and improving oper- ational efficiencies. The Definitive Guide: The Internet of Things for Business A conversation with Rob Bergquist, co-Founder of Cell Phones for Soldiers. WW: Tell our readers how Cell Phones for Soldiers works. RB: Cell Phones for Soldiers collects and repurposes gently used cell phones as a means to provide wireless services, equipment and calling cards for military members deployed overseas, as well as veterans who have returned from active duty. Cell Phones for Soldiers works alongside family readiness initiatives, care pack- age programs and other military support groups to fulfill our mission to connect mili- tary members to their loved ones back home. WW: If the veterans have returned home, why do they still need communication serv- ices and cellular phones? An interview with Peter Skuba, President of Technology Solutions & Services, Inc., (TSSI) an R2-certified, full-service, reverse logistics com- pany specializing in remanufacturing solutions for the mobile, IT and consumer electronics industries. WW: What is your goal for the show? PS: TSSI would like to partner with manufacturers, retailers and dis- tributors to help them effectively manage returned goods. Since we've already experi- enced the evolution of asset management in our PC group, and manage returned assets for brands such as HP and Lenovo, I feel we offer knowledge that can help bring mobile partners that same maturity more quickly, and thereby optimize their financial recovery associated with these goods. WW: What is your company most proud of? SmartWitness is bringing 4G LTE connectiv- ity to its next generation in-vehicle camera technology as the video telematics leader pushes further into data-enabled advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) in the form of software and hardware designed to decrease traffic incidents and reduce disputed insurance claims. For its forthcoming KP2 connected in-vehicle camera, SmartWitness, whose tech- nology helps identify and reduce driving risks, has turned to multinational wireless communications equipment designer and manufacturer Sierra Wireless ® to provide highly reliable 4G LTE connectivity. The KP2 will be powered by the industrial-grade Sierra Wireless HL Series embed- ded modules with 4G LTE Cat-3/4 technology to enable a reliable connectivity for real- time, two-way communication. "This is a significant advancement that gives us the scal- ability we need as we move toward technology-based road safety improvements designed to reduce risk and incident frequency to better serve our customer," said Chris Continued on Page 25 Continued on Page 25 TSSI Provides Cost-Effective Remanufacturing in the Americas Serving as a Lifeline to Deployed Troops and Returning Soldiers SmartWitness Raises the Bar for In-Vehicle Camera Technology Continued on Page 25 Continued on Page 25 Oser Communications Group San Francisco Tuesday, September 12, 2017 AN INDEPENDENT PUBLICATION NOT AFFILIATED WITH MWCA OR CTIA
