Franmara, Inc. 800.423.5855 www.franmara.com Aura Glass has designed and created a new spill-resistant glass that also spins to aerate wine and spirits with the touch of a finger. The company's specially engineered glass offers a third option for wine drinkers beyond the conventional stem-less or stemware. The glass pivots on a stainless steel ball at its stem, an innovation that makes it nearly impossible to spill its contents, while allowing it to spin easily. Over the past two years, the husband and wife founders have leveraged their engineering backgrounds and teamed up with industry leaders to develop the new product, testing numerous glasses with different shapes, sizes, angles and materials. Eventually, they created a spill-resistant, spinning glass with an optimal center of gravity, resting height and weight. "There's more science behind the design than meets the eye," said Keven Carpenter, Co-Founder at Aura Glass. "We partnered with a leading adhesive company to research and develop the best method to permanently attach the ball to the base. We worked on site in a lab with a team of chemists to determine the best way to bond metal to glass and withstand the wear and tear of a drinking glass. We have patents in the U.S. and Europe, and feel we have the perfect design and glass to bring to market." The craze for this unique glass started on Kickstarter where Aura Glass raised $30,000 in 30 days. Aura Glass created a lot of buzz at the NY NOW trade show and was one of the finalists for the Best New Product award at the show out of the more than 500 new exhibitors. Aura Glass is Made in USA, and has been selling direct to consumer through their website and is now ready to enter the retail market. "We are absolutely delighted that some of the big box brands and small boutique stores have reached out to us proactively. This is a testament to the product design and an endorsement of its potential," said Ankana Carpenter, company Co- Founder. Aura Glass is a premium product, so the founders are selective about the stores that should carry the glass. Aura Glass' first SKU is the large tumbler, which can be used for red wines, whiskeys and brandy. The founders are laser focused on bringing that to market. But there are a lot of prototypes already in the works. "We're looking at different glass shapes and colored balls that mimic wine charms at social gatherings," said Carpenter. They have already created an accessor y to accompany the glasses. Aura Glass comes with unique wooden coasters, serving as a docking platform, specifically designed to rest the glass when you're done spinning. A set of two glasses retails for $49.95 and a set of two glasses and coasters retails for $59.95. "We invite retailers to become part of this incredibly exciting journey. The Aura Glass has the potential to change the way people consume wine and spirits for the long term," Carpenter said.
