Broadcasters Show Daily 1 3 Monday, April 24, 2017 SKB CELEBRATES 40 YEARS OF INNOVATION WITH NEW, IMPROVED STUDIO FLYER An interview with Jerry Andreas, Senior Vice President of Music/Pro AV at SKB Cases. BSD: Tell our readers how SKB got started. JA: The very first SKB case was made in 1977 by our founders – Dave Sanderson and Steve Kottman – in a humble Anaheim, California garage. That case would eventually become the industry's premier lightweight molded guitar case, and it was just the first of many innovations that have helped to make SKB a leading manufacturer of transport solutions for all kinds of industries today. BSD: What is the secret to SKB's longevity and success? JA: Constant, continual innovation and improvement – hands down! We at SKB pride ourselves on our ability to listen to our customers and develop new ways to make our products better for them all the time. BSD: What new innovations will you be showcasing at NAB? JA: We have several new products, including three new size additions and new premium photo/video interiors (designed in collaboration with the experts at Think Tank Photo) for our ever-growing line of versatile iSeries cases. But we're especially excited about our new, improved 1SKB-iSF2U Studio Flyer. BSD: How has the Studio Flyer improved? JA: We introduced the world's first carry-on studio rack case back in 2007 and we're proud to say the new 1SKB-iSF2U represents another world's first: the first ever injection molded waterproof carry-on studio rack case! The virtually indestructible injection molded shell is lighter, stronger and less expensive than our previous 2U Studio Flyer. It also features front and rear molded-in square rack rails that are pre-installed with cage nuts (for added security and durability), as well as improved quiet-glide wheels and an easy-to-operate pull handle – all packed into a compact, convenient carry-on size. It's the perfect solution for sensitive studio equipment on the go. BSD: What makes this an ideal product for the broadcasting industry? JA: Traveling with broadcasting equip- ment can be expensive and cumber- some, even for pro gear that is now trending smaller, lighter and shal- lower. We wanted to develop a solu- tion that makes traveling with this gear easier than ever. Our new Studio Flyer fits rack mounted equipment such as video mixers and recorders, and also provides a laptop spot to create an ideal plug-and-play solution – saving broadcasters time setting up. BSD: What's next for SKB? JA: We plan to continue designing and building some of the best cases in the world. Forty years of steady growth has taught us that it's the trust and loyalty of our customers that gives us the opportu- nity to excel – we're thankful for these relationships that help us stay innovative. Here's to another 40-plus years! Stop by booth #C2322 to see all of SKB's new case innovations in person, or visit www.skbcases.com/studioflyer for more information. SLATERCOM-WCD OFFERS COMMERCIAL & INDUSTRIAL LIGHTING SOLUTIONS Wouldn't it make sense to think about replacing troublesome older style FAA lighting equipment with new Dialight LED systems – especially if tower modi- fications will be required during repack work? The FAA recently revised rules that allow tower lighting systems to be sub- stantially reconfigured. This includes eliminating side-marker lights altogether on systems other than used on the shorter towers (FAA A-1, D1 and E-1 systems). Another recent change now allows Medium Intensity lighting to replace High Intensity systems on towers from 550 feet to 700 feet. This change allows system replacement at a fractional cost of a comparable High Intensity system. Towers taller than 700 feet utilizing FAA High Intensity systems will benefit from installing new Dialight LED High Intensity lighting systems. Power requirements have been reduced 1/3 to 1/2 of what typical xenon based HI sys- tems typically consume. Dialight offers a unique integrated red L864 beacon in each HI flash head that can be used with FAA F and G systems. Another major advantage is the reduction of mainte- nance. Dialight offers a five-year system warranty (material only). All Dialight FAA lighting products feather precision optics that keep ground scatter to a very minimum which is extreme- ly important if the tower is located close to a residential area. The High Intensity systems greatly benefit from this fea- ture given the extreme inten- sity of the lights. Slatercom-WCD has provided and installed nearly 40 of these high tech lighting solutions. Systems can be provided material only or as a turn- key installed project using qualified installation contractors. Slatercom-WCD can also provide integrated lighting solutions – either dual (red-white) systems or red only systems (as used with painted towers) for towers of all heights. Slatercom-WCD constructs FAA D-2 and E-2 systems in a single NEMA rated enclosure. This eliminates tedious and time-consuming field work, including power and system synchroniza- tion issues. All two level systems (FAA A- 2, D-2 and E-2) also benefit with the new FAA Advisory Circular rules. Marker lights are not required on any configura- tion of these systems utilizing at least two levels or more of beacon lights. This results in lower overall costs for high effi- ciency LED FAA tower lighting solu- tions. Slatercom-WCD manufactures and/or integrates all FAA A, D and E series controllers. Modular construction allows easy reconfiguration for special applications. Slatercom-WCD maintains a large inventory of FAA lighting equipment and semi-complete systems ready for final integration and testing. This allows rapid delivery of individual components or completed lighting kits – including wiring, mounts and other components that the system may require. For more information, stop by booth #C1730, located near the front outdoor entrance in Central Hall. All Dialight FAA lighting products are on display, including the D266 High Intensity system. GIGASTONE IPHONE FLASH DRIVES PROTECT IPHONE AND IPAD DATA FROM HACKERS AND DDOS ATTACKS Gigastone, the Leading Global Mobile Technology Accessory Brand, announced its Apple iOS Flash Drives and Micro SD Card Readers, available for purchase at leading big-box stores and online, can be effectively used to secure your personal data from online hackers and DDoS attacks. iPhone and iPad users may be afraid their data is not secure, after the proliferation of hacking attacks in past months. Dyn, a company that routes internet traffic, sustained a massive cyber attack which prevented Twitter, Spotify, Netfix, Amazon, Tumblr, Reddit and Paypal users from accessing the sites. This is especially alarming for the general public who are storing all their information in the cloud. In the event that cloud storage solutions are rendered inaccessible, data cannot be retrieved. Harold Katz, Gigastone Chief Marketing Officer, commented, "As a result of the limited memory capacity of iPhones and iPads, users are already faced with having to store much of their data offline in the cloud. In a situ- ation where the cloud services are not available, their data is no longer acces- sible. The best way to prevent this would be to backup and store critical information on external memory." He went on to say, "Gigastone has the largest range of iOS flash drives, giv- ing Apple iPhone and iPad users the means to backup their devices in the event that their cloud based storage is not available." The Gigastone iOS Flash Drive come in a number of configurations to meet the needs of the Apple iPhone and iPad user. The Gigastone iFlashDrive software allows users to: backup iPhone data from your device to the external memory of the Gigastone iPhone flash drives; backup can be done automatically; iCloud, Google Drive, Dropbox and Facebook Album data can be moved to the exter- nal Gigastone IOs flash drive; the data is secured by touch ID security and/or encryption; all photos, movies and data is accessible from the iPhone or iPad without having to move the data from the external iOS flash drive to an iDevice; and the Gigastone iOS flash drives have both Lightning and USB adapters or removable MicroSD cards, so backed up data can easily be moved to any computer without the need for the iDevice; and data can also be copied from a computer to the iOS flash drive and accessed from an iPhone or iPad. Gigastone President Michel Hassan recapped by commenting, "With our technology, iPhone and iPad users are liberated from cloud-based only storage. They can sleep easily, knowing their data is offline and backed up onto external memory not linked to the internet." Gigastone iOS flash drives are avail- able through all the major big-box stores and online retailers. About Gigastone Gigastone is the leading global mobile accessory brand, specializing in state- of-the-art, high-end mobile peripherals and technology.
