GENERAL NEWS KITCHENWARE NEWS & HOUSEWARES REVIEW n APRIL 2017 n www.kitchenwarenews.com 10 GoSili®, the designer and manufacturer of silicone tableware products for the family, introduces the GoSili Cup, a microwave- and dishwasher-safe, all-silicone, reusable to-go coffee cup that can hold its shape. Today's retail environment, has an excessive amount of plastic table wares linked to negative health and environmental issues. GoSili is the first brand which focuses on creating silicone products that have high- end design at affordable prices competing directly with plastic. The company is dedicated to building a social movement away from toxic and unsustainable plastic wares by providing the alternative to them. With increasing brand awareness and larger distribution, GoSili is creating a cultural shift away from the overuse of these "throw away" plastics. As GoSili continues to grow its brands, the primary goal is to promote the silicone benefit, lead the industry and change the way we live. With 100 billion disposable cups going into landfills each year, the GoSili Cup offers a better solution to metal and plastic to-go cups which can't be placed in the dishwasher or microwave. Made from high-grade silicone, the stylish 16 oz. GoSili Cup features an embedded stainless steel ring to prevent the cup's lip from collapsing, while also being Microwave Safe (a unique patented feature). An extra-thick base and walls help make the cup extremely durable and a raised texture is featured for added grip. The cup is safe and free of any toxins, freezer-safe and can be boiled to sterilize. "With our GoSili Cup, we're excited to bring yet another silicone-based product innovation to the market," said Stacey Feeley, Co-Founder of Silikids. "The new cup is not only our answer to throwaway plastics but also an environmentally-safe product that, when used, will promote reduced waste and provide better health." Other items in the GoSili collection include 8 oz. silicone drinking cups, straw cup sets, universal fit straw tops and reusable straws. The GoSili Cup will be available at retail late July or early August 2017 and will have a recommended retail of $14.95. KN GoSili Debuts To-Go Coffee Cup GeniCan, a newcomer in the smart home industry, which turns ordinary garbage cans and recycling bins into smart ones, showcased its device at the International Home + Housewares Show in Chicago last month. GeniCan offers a solution to the problem of forgetfulness as it relates to creating, updating and remembering the grocery list. By scanning items or using voice recognition to add products as they are thrown away, the entire family always has access to a complete and up-to-date grocery list. Families are busier than ever and need an effective tool to manage grocery list upkeep and shopping. For busy households, grocery shopping is an especially challenging chore, leading to the explosion of home grocery delivery and curbside pickup services. But these services fail to address a key aspect of grocery shopping — the list — which is both difficult and time consuming to maintain. GeniCan attaches to a garbage or recycling bin, offering a unique, automated way for busy families to easily create and update the grocery list, fulfilling a key consumer need and saving both time and money. Simply scan an item, or use voice recognition if there's no barcode, as it 's discarded into the garbage or recycling bin, and the shopping list is automatically populated on the user's smartphone with exactly the items he or she wants to replenish. To make things even simpler, GeniCan has partnered with Amazon's Dash Replenishment service to allow users to automatically order popular items with one scan. With GeniCan, families never have to worry about forgetting the list at home, running out of necessities or buying too much of what's not needed. "Families are so busy these days that even small tasks like making grocery lists and grocery shopping can be tedious and time consuming," said GeniCan Co-Founder and Inventor Rob Griffin. "I knew there had to be a way to make things simpler. GeniCan offers a strong consumer value by addressing the biggest grocery shopping pain points: list-making and shopping." GeniCan is completely hands-f ree, so users can update the grocery list the moment they are thinking about what they need, even if their hands are dirty or full. GeniCan's sensors detect and scan items, which are then added to the app through a connection to the home's Wi-Fi. To avoid accidentally adding products, GeniCan is calibrated to only add items that have been intentionally scanned or added via voice recognition. The list can also be manually updated within the app, which includes a barcode scanner and the same voice recognition technology as the device itself. "By incorporating GeniCan with Amazon's Dash Replenishment, we're making grocery shopping easy," said Dave Pestka, Co- Founder. "With GeniCan, not only can you get your items instantly delivered, you can also be sure your grocery list is always up to date with items the family needs, cutting down on repeat visits to the store." GeniCan will be available for purchase in spring 2017 for $149, and is compatible with all major platforms, including Apple and Android, with future plans to include Windows phones. KN GeniCan Showcases Smart Grocery Shopping Device at IH+HS Gourmia™, a designer and manufacturer of innovative countertop kitchen appliances, is adding to its growing list of IoT (Internet of Things) features, which already includes single app control of multiple appliances, Amazon Alexa and Google Home integration, and IoT security and safety. Its first two products with the built-in Cook Cam are the FryHigh Auto Rotisserie Multi-Fryer and Free Fry 360 Degree Turbo XP Air Fryer with Wi-Fi. Both are the first such products in the world to feature a smart camera. "Gourmia is not only redefining the small kitchen-appliance market, we are now defining the smart kitchen market," said Gourmia Founder Heshy Biegeleisen. "During 2017, we intend to enable over 100 sku's with IoT, all of which can be controlled with just one app. The addition of the built-in Cook Cam in our IoT product line is a major introduction. Gourmia is proud to be leading the way in bringing smart kitchens into the home." Whether it's an elegant presentation at a gourmet restaurant or waffles in the shape of a cartoon character, people today are fascinated with taking — and sharing — photos of their meals. Now, the Gourmia Cook Cam lets users take pictures and videos of their meal as it cooks. Then, through the Gourmia mobile app, they can be transferred online. To aid novice or nervous cooks, Gourmia has uploaded a set of reference pictures of actual chefs preparing the same meal. These photos include time stamping, so an at- home cook, at any time during the cooking process, can compare the appearance of what they are cooking to how it should appear. If the photos don't match, the cook can use the controlling app to easily adjust the cooking program per the time-stamp recommendations. With a powerful halogen surround- heating system, the FryHigh Auto Rotisserie Multi-Fryer does the job of both a multi-cooker and an air fryer. Its multi- function properties allow for preparation of all sorts of foods with a vertical rotisserie grill, stir fryer and the ability to bake. It prepares amazingly flavor-packed foods without the heavy fat typical of deep-fried foods. It cooks with a minimal amount of oil, cutting out extra calories. It fries, stir fries, bakes, sautés, grills and roasts. Adding to its uniqueness is the Gourmia Cook Cam, that lets your capture every second of the cooking process while the Gourmia mobile app allows remote operation for total control over how quickly and efficiently food cooks. The unit has a transparent lid, a rack, adjustable temperature settings, an LED timer with sound alerts and automatic timer shut off. Accessories include rotating rack, chicken roaster, detachable rotating mixer, bowl handle and holder, and a measuring spoon. The FryHigh has a suggested retail price of $149.99. The Gourmia built-in Cook Cam in the Free Fry 360-Degree Turbo XP Air Fryer lets the user capture every second of cooking. The Gourmia mobile app allows remote operation with control of program, temperature and time, and the ability to monitor the appearance of the item being cooked with streaming video from the Cook Cam. The f ryer features state-of-the-art calorie-reduction technology to make meals with optimal taste and crispiness, while eliminating the need to add fats and oil during the cooking process. It makes use of two different scientific heating methods: convection and radiant. The unique design works by continuously circulating hot air to cook food, instead of relying on oil. The results are perfectly crisp exteriors and moist tender interiors, with a reduced cooking time of up to 60 percent. It comes with a free cookbook and expanded accessory kit, including fry basket, steak/fish cage, kebab rack, and more. The suggested retail price for the Free Fry is $179.99.
