Kitchenware News & Housewares Review Show Daily Sunday, March 19, 2017 8 WOMAN-OWNED, WOMAN-LED GAIA GROUP USA OFFERS NEW 'ESCAPE-INSPIRED' DINNERWARE COLLECTION Noted for its organic shapes and colors, designs and finishes inspired by nature and patterns from around the world, woman-owned woman-led Gaia Group USA (booth #S354) premiers new 2017 home dinnerware collections that draw inspiration from the peace and tranquility of the seashore to whimsical, happy pat- terns that free your mind from the trou- bles of everyday life. The restful, comforting color palette of Bella Terra returns in updated shapes and glaze techniques inspired by the peace and tranquility of the ocean. Embracing effortless imperfection, the collection evokes the sensual flow of gentle water over pearly shells and cool marbled stones, or the crackling of ice across arctic seas. To delight the senses, dimensional surfaces feature unique tex- tures conjuring sea urchin shells and buoyant bubbles pop- ping. Bella Terra's new Paola pattern in Ocean Blue is produced on stoneware with a reac- tive glaze edge and an ice-crackle glaze finish. The beautiful sea-blue color with deep blue-green reactive accent on the edge is representative of Gaia's focus on nature and respect for the earth. Gaia's Geo collection, known for its bright and lively geometric designs, returns with new styles inspired by glob- al patterns. Mixing textural new glazes and color palettes, Geo Happy™ offers solids and patterns in a kaleidoscope of bright primaries. The play- ful hand-finished look is highlighted by joyful flour- ishes and dynamic starburst patterns. Embossed and debossed textures with mid-gloss finishes enliven the surface of each piece, while the mix-and-match style provides opportunities for truly personalized looks. THE TIME-HONORED ART OF CREATING NUTRITIOUS BONE BROTH MADE SIMPLE Everyone knows that homemade bone broths and vegetable broths are incredi- bly nourishing and delicious. An excel- lent source of protein, rich in minerals, collagen and all kinds of other good stuff, bone broths improve digestion, are heal- ing for the digestive system and help boost immunity. But until now, the time, difficulty and mess associated with the traditional super food put it out of reach for most home cooks. That's what inspired Michelle Liu, Chief Engineer and Chief Executive Officer of Essenergy, Inc., to create the perfect solution. "I grew up with a steam- ing stovetop cauldron that simmered for an entire day to create traditional bone soups, but once I became busy with work and starting my own family, I craved a way to achieve the authenticity of those time-honored recipes, without the mess or the wait." An inventor at heart, Liu created a crock pot that offers a faster, easier and more delicious and nutritious way to make large batches of bone broth, chili, stew, steamed vegetables or fish, jook and soup. According to Liu, the secret of her slow cooker is using unglazed clay, just like the ancients used for its synergistic properties – unglazed clay intensifies fla- vors, alkalizes foods and increases the positive interactions between the nutri- ents. Liu designed the VitaClay Smart Multi- Crock n' Stock Pot with the busy home cook in mind. "Now anyone can prepare healthy genuine bone broth in just five hours because of breakthrough technology that allows people to cook healthy foods that used to take too much time to make. With doctors recommend- ing bone broth, gluten-free foods, less salt, less sugar and fresh ingredients, I hope to reignite the public's interest in this ancient tradition and educate them on the healing potential of bone broth and other slow-cooked foods." To get started, you can use leftover bones from family meals, or buy bones from your local butcher or farmer. The bones that create the richest broth, full of gelatin and collagen, are soup bones, which can be purchased and are labeled as such. VitaClay has recently developed a fully-electric stock pot that has a clay lin- ing, which eliminates the worry about watching the stove for hours while your broth simmers. You can add the bones from a whole chicken (or beef bones), add a full pot of water and 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to help draw the minerals out of the bones; cover and cook at a slow simmer for just three to five hours. Broth makes a tasty base for soups, stews and stir-fries, or you can replace your morning coffee or evening tea with a steaming cup of broth to add a nutritional boost to your diet.
