Kitchenware News & Housewares Review Show Daily Saturday, March 18, 2017 3 2 NEW PREMIUM HOUSEHOLD CLEANERS FOR EACH SPECIFIC SURFACE IN YOUR HOME B+B Household Cleaning Products, located in Akron, Ohio, was founded in 2015 by Claudia Crea and her husband because they were frustrated by the lack of cleaning products available that truly "got the job done well." Crea found that keeping stone counters, stainless steel appliances and glass cleaned to her per- sonal criteria was challenging. From fin- gerprints to splashes from the frying pan, she realized she didn't have the products available to complete these tasks satis- factorily. Crea tapped into her background as a chemist; her husband used his knowledge of his family's stone business and togeth- er they originated, right in their own home, a line of products that could clean and restore kitchen surfaces and appli- ances while leaving a pristine finish. Crea's knowledge of chemical processes allowed her to create safe products for family and pets. In fact, they named the company B+B in honor of their two dogs, Balthazar and Brisco, and a portion from the sale of every bottle is donated to local humane societies in honor of Zar and Brisco. The company's four products, all made in the USA, are: TrueVeue Glass Cleaner, a lavender-scented cleaner that quickly removes dirt and grease and pro- duces a streak-free finish. TrueVeue is recommended for use on glass surfaces; DailyStohn Granite Cleaner, which comes in two scents, Meyer lemon or sweet mint, for cleaning, restoring and protecting natural surfaces in the home while providing a non-greasy, streak-free finish on granite, marble and other hard surfaces; and PureStiel Stainless Steel Cleaner, created for stainless steel appli- ances, removes dirt and grease and provides a streak-free finish. B+B also provides a subscription service called CleanFreaks, which allows customers to schedule regular deliveries of B+B prod- ucts at a discounted price with no set commitment necessary. Customers receive a reminder prior to the order being shipped. This way, orders can be changed or temporarily canceled, then re-scheduled as needed. Prior to each delivery, the company sends a reminder email showing the item price and any applicable discount. The price of the item may decrease or increase from delivery to delivery, depending on the price of the item at the time the order is processed. In this way, CleanFreak subscription reduces the need for a long-term commit- ment while allowing customers to always have that reminder available. Customers can replace products using discretionary timing rather than with a rigid time schedule. Crea says the com- pany is most proud of the fact that its cleaning products are always safe for the home environ- ment, for family and for pets too. They have come to the International Home and Housewares show to spread the word about B+B Household Cleaning Products and to meet prospec- tive buyers. Crea added that the compa- ny's target customers are socially con- scious and eco-friendly consumers who may be beginning or proficient cleaners looking for premium products in an attractive design. B+B believes that different surfaces have different cleaning needs, hence the separation of types of cleaning solutions. As Crea notes, "Better products with bet- ter results allows you to spend more time with your loved ones." BIGGEST-EVER WINTER 2017 LAS VEGAS MARKET DELIVERS RESULTS Steady buyer attendance and strong order-writing set a positive tone at the largest-ever Winter 2017 Las Vegas Market, which ran January 22-26, 2017. The winter edition recorded notable gains in housewares, gourmet and gift buyer attendance, as well increases from key regions of the United States. On the resource side, the total exhibitor count topped 4,000 for the first time ever, solidifying Las Vegas Market's position as the nation's fastest growing gift market and the leading home fur- nishings destination in the western United States. "Across the board, this was the busiest Las Vegas Market since we launched more than 10 years ago," said Robert Maricich, Chief Executive Officer of International Market Centers. "Winter market certainly reflected the overall health of the industry, with heightened business activity reported from showrooms across the furniture, home décor and gift categories." The Winter 2017 Las Vegas Market boasted a record total of 4,003 exhibitor resources, with a total of 170,000-square- feet of new and expanded showroom space debuting in January. Las Vegas Market showcases some 400 plus kitchenware resources in permanent showrooms and temporary presentations, with a concentration of nearly 300 gour- met lines on C11 – the industry's most dynamic new destination for gift-orient- ed housewares, tabletop and specialty food – and in The Pavilions, which show- case gift and home temporary exhibitors. In total, the Market showcased more than five million square feet of product resources across 40 showroom floors and in 600 temporary exhibits. Buyer representa- tion spanned both the United States and the globe, with buyers from 50 states and some 80 countries attending Winter Market. Within the U.S., the highest attendance hailed from California, Nevada, Texas, Arizona and Washington. In line with the Market's recent strategic efforts to build kitchenware resources, commensurate attendance increases also were recorded in related categories: housewares up 11 percent and gourmet up 8 percent. Coming off Winter Market's record- setting performance, anticipation is high for the Summer 2017 Las Vegas Market, which is scheduled for July 30-August 3, 2017. In addition to continued resource expansion, summer market highlights will include the annual "Up on the Roof" gala charity event benefiting Gift For Life; the third annual ANDYZ design awards, recognizing the year's best interior design projects; AHEAD OF THE CURVE presenting a design influencer's view of market; and the exclusive FIRST LOOK trend presentation spotlighting directional trends with the best new-to-market prod- ucts. Las Vegas Market is the nation's fastest growing gift and home décor mar- ket and the leading furniture marketplace in the western U.S., presenting 4,000 plus gift, home décor and furniture resources in an unrivaled market destina- tion. Las Vegas Market features thou- sands of gift, furniture and home décor lines, allowing for cross-category com- merce among these industries. The Summer 2017 Las Vegas Market runs July 30-August 3, 2017. For more information, visit www .lasvegasmarket.com. ASTROTURF SCRAPER-MAT DESIGN PROMOTES CLEAN & HEALTHY NEST Carey Wider, President, GrassWorx, dis- cusses consumer interest in clean and draws some parallels with 40 years of research in the poultry industry to the home segment. KNSD: How do you draw parallels to hens and people with your doormats? CW: I'm sorry we have limited space. You know I love to talk about our beautiful doormats that were devel- oped from the ground up – no pun intended. We are all about the propri- etary bud design creating a doormat that traps, holds and hides dirt. Stop dirt from coming into the home first is our mantra! KNSD: Your patented design is now over 50 years old. It has legendary clean- ing capabilities? CW: We've been working with cleaning experts for years that pretty much agree over 80 percent of the dirt entering a home or building comes through the entrances. I recently read an article on the Health.com site that helps me frame my next point. They know how hard we work to make our house a beautiful, peaceful haven – but even super-tidy homes can harbor unwelcome germs. In fact, an environmental microbiologist at the University of Arizona told them, 'you're more likely to get sick from a germ in your own house than from any other source.' They also offered simple strategies to minimize these germs … places most likely to be germy … easy ways to keep them clean – and your home healthy. KNSD: Is this about cleaning or doormats? What about those chickens? CW: Actually both. One of those clean- ing strategies was about shoes. Whatever sticks to your shoes comes into your house – irritating pollen dur- ing allergy season, pesticide residue from your lawn, lead-contaminated dust. We've know this since day one. Their simple fix: It's easy to keep the germs and yuck outside. Remove your shoes at the door. Wipe your feet on a high-quality, abrasive doormat and clean it once a week! KNSD: Anything else you want our readers to know? CW: Most of our millions of doormat customers do not real- ize that we are the leader in mak- ing Poultry Nest Pads for hens. Yes, their home where they lay eggs. We've been doing research and product upgrades for over 40 years in that seg- ment. We know that by keeping the nest clean, it promotes happier, healthier chickens and cleaner eggs. It's no coinci- dence that we use some of the same tech- nology that we created for our Clean Machine© doormats. KNSD: You help both hens and moms by keeping their nests cleaner? CW: Bingo! Maybe you could say we are protecting their nest egg. For more information, stop by booth #N6557 in the Clean + Contain Expo area, call 800.813.5221 or email info@grassworxllc.com.
