GOURMET NEWS www.gourmetnews.com n JANUARY 2017 n GOURMET NEWS 5 6 Benissimo Oils Offer Flavor for Every Meal A new year brings new opportunities in the kitchen. For some, this means cooking more family dinners and getting kids involved in plan- ning and preparing meals. Others want to learn how to cook gourmet meals, and of course, many people are focused on clean eating. With a variety of products in the Benis- simo family, including gourmet infused oils and vinegars and non-GMO fruit and seed oils, Benissimo has something to help all customers achieve better meals. Perhaps the most common improvement is that of preparing lighter and more flavorful foods. Benissimo infused oils offer a healthy way to add incredible flavor to any dish without the typical feeling of "diet depriva- tion." Just one look at the beautiful herbs and spices inside a bottle can inspire a wealth of healthy, flavorful menu ideas. Salad dress- ings, roasted meats and vegetables, soups, crudité platters and more can go from boring to exciting when prepared with Benissimo infused oils. For those who want to make family meal preparation a priority, Benis- simo infused oils are an ingre- dient that looks incredible sitting on the countertop and will easily entice even inexpe- rienced cooks to open a bottle and explore the opportunities it brings to their kitchens. Experienced cooks are drawn to the diversity of flavors as well, and will enjoy drizzling infused oils that range from Mediterranean Garlic to Spicy Sriracha Oil on soups and dips as a beautiful garnish that adds amazing flavor. In addition to Benissimo's infused oils and balsamic vinegars, customers who are inter- ested in clean eating and adding healthy oils to their diets will enjoy the line of non-GMO fruit and seed oils. Benissimo Avocado and Grapeseed Oils have a clean, fresh flavor and a high smoking point that is perfect for pan-seared chicken, fish, vegetables and salad dressings. Benissimo Toasted Sesame Oil adds a fan- tastic, nutty flavor to noodles, fish, chicken, sauces, salads and slaws. The Pasta Shoppe Launches Pastabilities Organic Kids Pasta Pastabilities ® Organic Kids Pasta is the most recent addition to the growing organic pasta selections by The Pasta Shoppe. Choose from five "everyday" fun themes focused on get- ting Mom's attention. The 12-ounce boxes are colorfully designed and include a window to peek at the fun shapes. Each box offers a combination of shapes and colors, made from 100 percent organic durum wheat and veg- etable powders. Pastabilities Organic Kids Pasta is available by the case, or in a shipper. "The organic market is booming, and re- tailers are looking for differentiated products that will appeal to moms out there searching for healthier options for her family," com- mented John Aron, President. "The initial re- sponse has been very positive, and our first sale has happened even before the boxes were ready!" Additional organic pasta lines from The Pasta Shoppe include Organic Healthy Grains, which highlights Sprouted, Spelt and Kamut ® Khorasan ancient grain wheats. The three pastas are created in the Italian Gigli or "Lilly" shape, and are extruded using hand- crafted bronze dies. Another line extension, Italian Inspired Organic Pasta, offers beauti- ful shapes from the small regions of Italy. The tri-color pasta is very appealing to con- sumers because of the shapes and packaging. The Pasta Shoppe is a bou- tique pasta manufacturer of fun shapes, healthy grains and organic pasta. Located in Nashville, Tennessee, The Pasta Shoppe has been creat- ing and carving out a special niche in the pasta business since 1994. Known as an innovator in the fun shaped pasta arena, The Pasta Shoppe sells to retailers all over the U.S. and currently ex- ports to Asia and South America. The Pasta Shoppe's boutique pasta manu- facturing process has been built to reflect the small manufacturing plants all over Italy, using only premium ingredients and "Old World" processes. All of The Pasta Shoppe's specialty pasta is made using bronze dies which give a rough, matte texture that is porous and holds sauce beautifully. Large in- dustrial manufacturers typically use Teflon tooling, which leave a smooth shiny finish. The choice of manufacturing with only premium wheats and ingre- dients, along with the slow cart drying of the pasta, preserves the nutritional quality and taste of the product. Combining fun shapes, innovation and high quality manufacturing, The Pasta Shoppe offers customers a wide variety of differentiated pasta lines to consider. With every dining experience, the final cooked pasta has wonderful consistency and flavor … and adds a lot of fun! Visit The Pasta Shoppe at booth #515. Clasen Quality Chocolate Launches Brand of Organic Baking Chocolate An interview with Beth Goeddel, Vice Presi- dent of Marketing, Clasen Quality Choco- late. GN: Tell our readers about Clasen Quality Chocolate. BG: Clasen Quality Chocolate is a privately- held company based in Madison, Wisconsin, that supplies a wide variety of chocolate and confectionery coatings to food manufactur- ers and private label grocery brands across the country. We also produce our own retail brands, including Artisan Kettle™ Organic Chocolate Chips, which we just launched this year. Our company was founded in 1959 by two German bakers, the Clasen brothers, and over time evolved into a candy company, and now a major supplier of chocolate and con- fectionery coatings to the food industry. We are a family-owned and family-operated business, with a mission to serve our cus- tomers better than anyone in the industry. GN: What brings you to the show? BG: We want to let retail category buyers know about our new line of delicious, or- ganic chocolate. CQC recently launched two of its own brands of baking chocolate, including Artisan Kettle Organic and Kitchen Hearth™ Chocolate Chips, which are available at select retailers. Here at the show, we are launching Artisan Kettle Or- ganic Chocolate Chips, available in Bitter- sweet, Semisweet, White and Milk Chocolate varieties. GN: Who is your target audience for Artisan Kettle? BG: We made Artisan Kettle Or- ganic Chocolate Chips for people who care about the quality of what goes into their baking recipes; those who value clean ingredient lines, and allergen free and or- ganic product attributes; and of course, those who love delicious chocolate! GN: How do your products help retailers? BG: We think our products will grow retail- ers' category sales. The organic segment of the baking chocolate category is small, but growing, and we see the potential for faster growth. Many of the organic chocolate chips in stores today are expensive and taste rather bitter, limiting their appeal. We know people want organic foods, so we have worked to make delicious tasting chocolate chips at a more affordable price point. Artisan Kettle Organic choco- late chips offer advantages not found on the shelf today, at a lower price than most. They are made in the U.S.A., they are or- ganic and allergen free, and they have delicious flavor and tex- ture, which has been designed to deliver a broadly appealing chocolate taste. GN: What is your company most proud of? BG: Our excellent customer service, and our high product quality and delicious flavor. We hope you'll stop by our booth and taste the difference for yourself!
