These membranes are designed for extreme moisture protection and aggres- sively bond to poured concrete and other building materials. SubSeal eliminates the movement of water under the membrane. SubSeal also can be used for both above and below grade applications. It is specifically designed for use on features such as through-wall flashings, windows, sills, pot shelves, parapet walls and many other applications. It is composed of a tough multi-layer, high-strength polymer film that is coated with a layer of special- ly formulated rubberized asphalt adhe- sive for maximum protection. Multi-purpose waterproofing pro- tection can be used for horizontal or vertical applications, under stucco, flashing around windows and doors, through-wall flashings, foundation walls, plaza decks, sills, pot shelves, parapet walls and parking garages. This advanced system aggres- sively bonds to the substrate and will seal around fasteners to prevent damage caused by water penetration. It has a versatile application range, aggressive bonding characteristics, extreme mois- ture protection, is rugged and reliable, self-seals around fasteners and is easy to handle and install. EVERYDAY LUXURIES KEY TO CUSTOM HOMES More than square footage or floor plans, homeowners are seeking distinctive spaces that bring a touch of luxury to everyday life. The trend, commonly exemplified in kitchens featuring high-end appliances and custom finishes, is becom- ing increasingly important in other areas of the home, according to Mendota Hearth Products Vice President Kent Roeder. "In much the same way that premi- um brands such as Sub-Zero and Wolf elevate the entire kitchen experience, clients are looking for something special for their hearth beyond the basic builder- box fireplaces that are specified for most homes," said Roeder. Mendota has long been positioned as North America's luxury fireplace, but the brand recently upped the ante with the introduction of its Décor line of gas fire- places and fireplace inserts. Mendota's most customizable offering, the Décor line, presents virtually endless possibilities with a choice of fronts and doors, finishes, interior linings and fire bases, all of which can be handpicked by the homeowner. "Décor gives your clients complete control over almost every aspect," Roeder says. "They can create a room with the col- ors, textures and shapes they love, for a fireplace that truly reflects their sense of style and design, and is worthy of being the focal point of their space." Indeed, fireplace styles like the Décor linear models create a whole new proportion for the hearth, one that is equally at home in traditional or contem- porary settings. The standard brick interi- or linings have been updated with panoramic options in reflective porcelain, flat panel or wave designs, in rich colors ranging from Metallic Silver to Espresso. Perhaps the most unique aspect of Décor models is the range of fire bases. Clients looking for a fresh take on the tra- ditional log set can choose from four sig- nature wood sets, including new Birch and Norway Spruce options. For those looking for a complete departure from the expected, seven other fire bases ranging from glass fire stones to river rock to tumbled mar- ble are also available. To alleviate any concerns about overwhelming clients with too many choices, Roeder points to the My Mendota fireplace design tool on the company's website, www.mendota- hearth.com. "My Mendota is a fun, real- time design tool that lets homeowners build and rebuild their perfect hearth as many times as they like," he says. "Once they have it just the way they want it, they can then print or e-mail the specs to their designer or builder. It doesn't get much easier than that." Visit Mendota at booth #S3010. ZOELLER BATTLES THE WIPE PROBLEM WITH SHARKS The sewage pumping industry is facing a growing problem with clogging due to the increased use of personal wipes in homes across the nation. The New York Daily News reported that the cleaning wipes market is in excess of $6 billion. Many wipes are advertised as safe to flush down the residential toilet. However, even if they successfully flush, they can cause clogs in the sewer lines, catching in the turns of pipes or where pipe sizes change. Worse, those that make it to the sewage treatment plants can cause massive clogging issues there. While plumbers see the results of many strange items finding their way into toi- lets, widespread use of wipes is currently the number one problem. Zoeller Company originally entered the grinder pump market in 1993 when they introduced the Shark ® Model 840. Grinder pumps have a cutter blade at the intake, which macerates, grinds or shreds all materials before they get to the impeller. The shredded material passes easily through the pump and down the system without clogging. The Shark Model 840 pump is uniquely suited to sit- uations where clogging occurs with its unique reversing motor. Zoeller Company has continued add to its grinder pump line, developing more efficient models with improved cutter mechanisms that prevent clogging and binding from all the different types of materials that are introduced to domestic sewage systems, including personal wipes. Recognizing the need for an afford- able grinder pump solution for the resi- dential market, Zoeller Company devel- oped the first 1/2 HP grinder pump, the Shark Model 800 in 2014. It used a new Tri- Slice ® cutter and plate tech- nology coupled with a pow- erful 3,500 rpm, oil-filled motor and runs on a 120v electrical circuit. This pump was the perfect solution to the problematic residential 1/2 horsepower sewage ejector market, which is plagued by the infamous wipes. In 2015, the next generation of Shark grinder pumps was released by Zoeller Pump Company. The 803-805-807 family of cast iron, automatic and non-automatic grinder pumps are available in 1/2 HP (803), 3/4 HP (805), and 1 HP (807) mod- els. With integral vertical switch or non- automatic, these pumps are also available in preassembled package systems. This year, Zoeller Company announced the addition of yet one more series of grinder pumps, increasing the range of Shark grinder pumps to more than 10 models, the broadest offer- ing in the industry. The 1.0 HP Model 818 and 1.5 HP Model 819 grinder pumps join the 2.0 HP Model 820 grinder pump, provid- ing a robust series for more demanding applications. All of these economical models utilize the Tri-Slice cutter system, which pro- vides a dual-bladed, angled cutter whose scissor-like action shreds difficult wastewater materials to a 1/8" particle size. This improved cutter system deliv- ers more torque per blade, lowering amp spikes and extending pump service life. Like all Zoeller sump and sewage pumps from 1/3HP to 60 HP, Shark grinder pumps are designed, machined and assembled at Zoeller Company's manufacturing facility in Louisville, Kentucky. For 26 years, Covertech has been a North American leader in the manufacturing of reflective insulation products. Marketed under the brand name rFoil, its patented technology is designed to reduce the radiant heat gain/loss in residential, commercial and HVAC applications. Residential applica- tions include walls, ceilings, crawl space, floors, between joist, duct work, under vinyl siding, attics, roofs and many more applications. "Because rFoil is made of non- fibrous insulation, there's no itching or exposure to glass fibers, and no protec- tive equipment or clothing required. Because of the thermal value, it won't rot, degrade, compress or break down over time," says John Starr, Vice President/Partner at Covertech. Some of the other features include: non-toxic and non-carcinogenic; light- weight, clean and fiber free; thermal value unaffected by mois- ture or humidity; will not promote mildew, mold or fungi; no nesting character- istics; and reflects 96 per- cent of radiant heat. "Our approach to pro- viding the top-of-the-line performance insulation products along with our in-house insulation experts and nationwide distribution network makes us the preferred choice of the building industry," says Starr. rFoil insulation materials are tested under the ASTM 1224 Standard Specifications for Reflective Insulation for building applications. rFoil has been evaluated under the new stricter IECC (International Energy Conservation Code) by ICC Evaluation Service (Evaluation report #1236) and is also ICC- ES listed (ESL-1044). Covertech operates from its modern 107,000 square foot facility in Toronto, Canada and employs more than 100 peo- ple. For more information, visit booth #W4572 or go to www.rfoil.com.
