Construction Marketplace Wednesday, January 11, 2017 5 6 saw blades do. These machines, which operate using electric over hydraulic power, can cut sheet goods up to 12 feet wide and 3 inches thick, depending on the material being cut. When cutting fiber-cement boards or panels, the chromium-vanadium tool steel blade can make more than 15,000 cuts without replacement or sharpening, and will typi- cally outlast more than 20 circular saw blades. Raptors cut accurately within 1/16 inch and five times faster than a table saw on most products. The result is a dust-free job site with higher productiv- ity and lower replacement blade costs. "We've been developing cutting machines for over 15 years, and our cus- tomers continue to request specialized cutters to cut thicker and wider products, which necessitated our move to hydraulics to power the more demanding applications," explained Ben Toews, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bullet Industrial. "We enjoy developing Bullet Tools (Cont'd. from p. 1) cutting solutions for even the most diffi- cult to cut materials." Raptors come with your choice of the following control options: two-hand pres- ence, "deadman" footswitch or digital interface with an automated feed system. Optional upgrades include indexed (pivot- ing) cutter head, infeed/outfeed tables, highway rated trailerized frame, automat- ed feed and cut upgrade and various elec- trical configurations based on user needs. The machines come standard with safety features including E-stops, two-hand pres- ence controls, polycarbonate blade guard and an isolated lock-out power switch. These cutters are positioned to revo- lutionize the way sheet goods are cut on job sites around the world. MS: In years past, architectural sliding was more of a commercial enterprise. Now residential placement and product offerings have grown exponentially to meet the demands of designers and builders who want something fresh and new for their customers. While barn door hardware has been a popular addition in commercial proj- ects, particularly hospitality, we've seen it used to great effect in private homes for master bathrooms, to enclose kitchen pantries and cover book shelves, multi- media areas and more. CM: How have partitions changed over time? MS: The hardware available for parti- tions has come a long way. While stan- dard folding partitions are still popular, designers and architects are demanding more for their spaces. Telescoping hard- ware from companies such as Hawa allow for a variety of materials to be used in separating a space, so heavy doors can Häfele (Cont'd. from p. 1) be closed with just the push of a finger. The use of exterior glass partitions has become the top choice to open a home to outdoor living areas, fire pits or other similar features. CM: Are there any door styles which have made a comeback or surprised you? MS: The use of bi-fold and pocket doors, such as those from our own Slido line have really been used to great effect in lot of projects. Naturally space-saving, designers and contractors have kind of rediscovered these styles for use in kitchens, multi-hous- ing projects, hotels and more. CM: What is the current state of door hardware? MS: Innovation and design are constant- ly being pushed to develop newer and better hardware which greatly benefits everyone. We've got things in develop- ment right now which we couldn't have even envisioned 10 years ago. It really is an exciting time to be able to lead this category and show what's coming next. "In much the same way that premi- um brands such as Sub-Zero and Wolf elevate the entire kitchen experience, clients are looking for something special for their hearth beyond the basic builder- box fireplaces that are specified for most homes," said Roeder. Mendota has long been positioned as North America's luxury fireplace, but the brand recently upped the ante with the introduction of its Décor line of gas fire- places and fireplace inserts. Mendota's most customizable offering, the Décor line, presents virtually endless possibilities with a choice of fronts and doors, finishes, interior linings and fire bases, all of which can be handpicked by the homeowner. "Décor gives your clients complete control over almost every aspect," Roeder says. "They can create a room with the colors, textures and shapes they love, for a fireplace that truly reflects their sense of style and design, and is worthy of being the focal point of their space." Indeed, fireplace styles like the Décor linear models create a whole new proportion for the hearth, one that is Mendota (Cont'd. from p. 1) equally at home in traditional or contem- porary settings. The standard brick interi- or linings have been updated with panoramic options in reflective porce- lain, flat panel or wave designs, in rich colors ranging from Metallic Silver to Espresso. Perhaps the most unique aspect of Décor models is the range of fire bases. Clients looking for a fresh take on the tra- ditional log set can choose from four sig- nature wood sets, including new Birch and Norway Spruce options. For those looking for a complete departure from the expected, seven other fire bases rang- ing from glass fire stones to river rock to tumbled marble are also available. To alleviate any concerns about overwhelming clients with too many choices, Roeder points to the My Mendota fireplace design tool on the company's website, www.mendota- hearth.com. "My Mendota is a fun, real- time design tool that lets homeowners build and rebuild their perfect hearth as many times as they like," he says. "Once they have it just the way they want it, they can then print or e-mail the specs to their designer or builder. It doesn't get much easier than that." Visit Mendota at booth #S3010.
