Construction Marketplace 5 7 Tuesday, January 10, 2017 products around the world, earning the industry's highest ratings from architects, builders and consumers, including the top award in the British House of Commons regarding sound abatement. Considered green products, Acoustiblok's products have proven ben- efits in industry, health and medicine, transportation, public safety, consumer goods, and energy and the environment. Acoustiblok ® material is typically applied as part of layered wall, ceiling or floor construction. It is usually stapled to wood studs or screwed to metal studs prior to drywall. Each layer of 16-ounce Acoustiblok reduces sound transmission by as much as 30 db depending on the frequencies. It has more sound deadening effectiveness than some treatments with lead. A typical 2 x 4 gypsum stud wall is usually 33 to 35 STC. Acoustiblok installed in the stud wall is lab certified at STC 53; better than 8 inches of poured concrete (STC 51). To the human ear, this represents approximately 80 percent in sound reduction. With two layers of Acoustiblok, the STC can be in the 60s, depending on the wall configuration. Acoustiblok's UL Classification file number is R21490 and is approved for use in more than 400 wall and floor/ceil- ing assemblies. Acoustiblok can be installed on studs before attaching drywall to reduce noise between rooms, over floor joists before the sub floor is attached to reduce Acoustiblok (Cont'd. from p. 1) the sound from walking (impact noise) as well as the noise created in the room, on roof trusses to reduce noise from low fly- ing airplanes or busy highways, around plumbing pipes to quiet the sound of run- ning water or in home theaters and multi- functional A/V type entertainment rooms. In multi-family units such as condo- miniums and apartment complexes, a leading cause of tenant relocation is noise. The problem of sound attenuation in these types of buildings is rarely addressed properly. By installing Acoustiblok over the studs, ceiling and floor joists, sound can be effectively stopped before it vibrates the structure. Primary products include Acoustiblok viscoelastic polymer based soundproofing material, Acoustifence ® outdoor acoustical fence, All Weather Sound Panels ® , QuietFiber ® insulating material, Quiet-Cloud ® industrial sound absorption panels and Acoustiblok Wallcover ® , post- construction noise solution and Thermablok ® Aerogel nan- otechnology thermal insulation. The company's products are all made and sourced in the United States. Acoustiblok Inc. ships products to more than 50 countries through a net- work of stocking distributors in the United States, and on five continents across the globe. Visit Acoustiblok at booth #S810. Its interior finishing offerings include trim or moulding, wall treat- ments, interior doors, posts and columns, stairway systems and ceiling treatments. This decor category is often not top-of-mind with consumers when renovating or redecorating their homes, but their use has a significant impact on the overall look and feel of the space. While many interior finishing products serve functional purposes, they also have the potential aesthetic impact to Metrie (Cont'd. from p. 1) greatly transform a room from good to grand. Visit booth #W3653 at IBS 2017 to learn more about Metrie's assortment of interior finishing solutions, and tour the "Then & Now Finishing Collections" gallery and learn about the Every Room Tells A Story – 2017 Builder & Designer Challenge. This is the contest where industry profession- als have a chance to win a grand prize package worth more than $25,000, with additional prize packages to be award- ed. Professional Judges and People's Choice voting will decide the winners, with an official announcement to be made during IBS 2018 in Orlando, Florida. This is an exciting opportunity for builders and designers to showcase their talents and become recognized in the industry. Sewage ejector clogging instances are on the rise. Traditional mac- erator and grinder designs are not ade- quately handling many of the materials being introduced, especially so called "flushable" personal wipes. This situa- tion led Zoeller Company engineers to develop a new style cutter system for its grinder pumps which the company named the Tri-Slice ® Cutting System. Utilizing an axial cutting concept was introduced at Zoeller Company 23 years ago. More recently, the design has been refined and improved to better han- dle the increasing demands placed on waste systems. Cutting action occurs per- pendicular to the direction of flow. The superiority of this scissor-like cutting technique was notable, as was the long wear life of the hardened 440C stainless cutting surfaces. The design improve- ments of the Tri-Slice Cutter System include the following: Two-Bladed Rotating Cutter with Sharper Edges The two blade, wing-shaped design delivers a quicker and cleaner cut. The razor sharp edges deliver full motor Zoeller (Cont'd. from p. 1) torque to just two cutting surfaces. Power is distributed more efficiently, providing faster cutting action at a lowered current draw and placing less stress on the motor. Stationary Plate with a 22 Hole-11 Slot Cutting Surface Designed in conjunction with the winged shaped rotating cutters, the stationary plate has 22 holes and 11 slots, enabling three stages of cutting to occur in 11 increments per blade rotation, 57 times per second. The action is designed to slice solids in the waste stream to less than ¼" in size particles which easily flow through the impeller. A raised sec- tion behind each cutting wing is hollow, which prevents debris from being dragged underneath the rotating blade. This keeps the plate clean and improves its cutting effectiveness. Currently used on Zoeller Pump Company's fractional HP and progress- ing cavity grinder pumps, the Tri-Slice Cutting System will eventually be used on all Zoeller 1 and 2 HP grinder pumps. Going forward, the company anticipates this new technology will be used on many additional grinder pump models. Visit Zoeller Company at booth #S1820. Immediately the instantaneous hit and splash, the bend of the rod, and you realize that it wasn't a piece of timber – it was a monster northern pike waiting for his next meal to swim by. You can probably imagine the rest of the fight yourself – the runs away from the boat, towards the boat, around the boat – the dives to the bottom and the runs toward the weed bed. Your guide masterfully maneuvers the boat and then uses his two-handed net to land the fish. Measured, photographed and released back into the water, you turn to your buddy in the front of the boat. You were going to high five him, but now he has a big one on as well. If imagination is enough for you, you needn't do anything except get another cold one from the fridge. If you want to turn imagination into experience, here's the first thing you need to do: find somebody to go with you, someone to share the experience. How about family members? A son, daughter, son-in-law, brother, uncle (kids under 15 get a 50 percent discount). How about your wife? Lots of women would love an adventure fishing trip where they were guaranteed to catch big fish. Big Sand Lake Lodge is very woman-friendly, featuring comfort- able and clean cabins with all the impor- tant amenities and a warm and hospitable lodge serving great meals, which is also a Big Sand Lake Lodge (Cont'd. from p. 1) place to hang out if the lady needs a day to recover from yesterday's fishing work- out. Going with a bunch of buddies can't be beat. It's tough not to be in a good mood at Big Sand. What's not to like? It's roughing it without roughing it. The jokes and stories will punctuate every evening after dinner – that is, unless you decide to go out fishing again for a few hours. Remember, it is daylight most of the 24 hours, and Big Sand Lake Lodge is perhaps the only lodge in Northern Manitoba to encourage evening fishing if desired. How about bringing along a valued client or two, or a couple of employees who deserve to be rewarded for their hard work and loyal service? Bonuses are great, but they typically get eaten up pay- ing bills and are quickly forgotten. A trip to the Big Sand is something they'll remember and thank you for in years to come. Look for that group. Get organized. The trip won't happen unless you make it happen. Once you've got your group solidified, call Rick or Lynda at 800.348.5824 or email them at info@bigsandlakelodge.com so that you can nail down some dates. Big Sand Lake Lodge hopes to see you and share some great fishing experiences. Be sure to stop by the booth and see how you can earn a free trip to Big Sand Lake Lodge.
