Construction Marketplace Tuesday, January 10, 2017 5 6 Free Cooling System "bolts on" to an existing forced air system and the free- standing VentCool Whole House Fan works independent of the HVAC system. Both provide dramatic energy savings and fresh air ventilation. There are a total of 10 models for a variety of applica- tions. Automated Free Cooling – the Residential Economizer The VentCool Automatic Free Cooling System is one of the most innovative sys- tems on the market. This state-of-the-art system is completely automatic and inte- grates into an existing forced air system via an Integrated Ventilation Relay Center. Indoor/outdoor temperature sen- sors automatically signal ultra quiet, pos- itive seal dampers and engage the central fan to bring in cool air while exhausting warm air. These dampers are controlled by the most reliable motor on the market, rated at over 100,000 cycles. Intake and exhaust vents control air flow and help keep the home safe since windows and doors can remain closed. Four models provide a variety of configurations. The system can be controlled via smartphone, tablet or computer. Whole House Fans for a New Era The VentCool Whole House Fan includes six models that work independent of the central HVAC system. These self-con- tained units feature energy efficient ECM fans, insulated louvers and self-sealing dampers. Fresh air is pulled into the home through an open window or door and provide airflow from 884 CFM up to 4950 CFM. Insulated duct and ultra-quiet insulated fans minimize noise. These fans are activated manually and can be equipped with a timer and automatic shut off switch. A New Profit Center VentCool Free Cooling Systems provide Field Controls (Cont'd. from p. 1) the contractor an additional source of revenue while providing a needed service for the homeowner. VentCool fans use about one tenth the electricity of a typical air conditioner and provide a welcome reduction in the homeowner's utility costs. Contractors throughout the U.S. have found the homeowner more than receptive to the idea. All VentCool mod- els meets or exceed ventilation require- ments for ASHRAE 62.2 and qualify for California's Title 24 free cooling energy credits. Saving on Air Conditioning is Just the Beginning The benefits of free cooling begin with dramatic energy savings. Free cooling systems use up to 90 percent less ener- gy than running compressor-based air conditioning units. As the cooler air cir- culates through the home, it cools the structure and everything in it. With this thermal mass cooling effect, traditional air conditioning isn't needed until later in the day. This translates into less use of the A/C system and greater savings. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) reports that whole house free cooling systems are the most cost effective way to cool a home. About Field Controls Field Controls develops and manufac- tures products that control, move and improve the quality of air. Field Controls customers are original equip- ment manufacturers of oil and gas heat- ing appliances and more than 6,000 wholesale distributors throughout the U.S. who supply the many thousands of HVAC contractors that specify Field Controls products for their customers, residential and commercial building owners. Field Controls is ISO 9001:2008 certified. For more information, visit www.field controls.com or www.facebook.com/field controls. busybusy Mobile Time Tracking Solution. "I'm not going to tell you it's just like wood," says Jeff Byers, Vice President of Marketing at HB&G Building Products. "Wood columns and posts can be beautiful when first installed, but as we all know, they check, split and twist, leading to callbacks, com- plaints and warranty issues.
