This component can seek out airborne contaminants and eliminate them with a 3M high-efficiency filter. Lastly, UNIBOT has a home man- agement module which monitors unusual activity by sending pictures and videos in real time to your smartphone or tablet with the ECOVACS app, designed to keep you connected to your in-home environment from any location. This fea- ture can effectively monitor your home in both bright and dimly lit rooms, any time of day, thanks to UNIBOT's infrared sen- sors. The ECOVACS app makes home management simple for those with even the busiest schedules, as consumers can program UNIBOT for daily scheduled cleanings and home monitoring via the app. UNIBOT comes equipped with ECOVACS Robotics (Cont'd. from p. 1) electronic collision sensors and a soft- touch bumper that minimize its contact with furniture. It can monitor for water, doors, motion, glass breakage and even smoke. It also has LDS scan- ning, which provides it with a "map" of the home for maximum efficiency of cleaning and monitoring. While loaded with the aforementioned bells and whistles, UNIBOT continues to per- form at a low noise level, so con- sumers can go about their day without interruption. Its compact design with aesthetically pleasing bright white col- ors also helps UNIBOT seamlessly integrate into consumers' home design and management routines. One implication of these megatrends is a new automotive supply chain. The days are changing in which a carmaker sends an ECU spec to a tier 1, which then designs the hardware and software and does the integration. Vendors in the new supply chain sell everything from telco, cloud computing and big data services; network infrastructure; AI and deep learning neural networks; and of course scads of consumer tech. With incentive programs, subsides and direct invest- ments, even governments are getting in on the act. A pile of investment money is chas- ing the new automotive revenue pool, estimated by McKinsey to be $1.5 trillion of recurring additional revenue by 2030 from shared mobility and data-connectiv- ity services. And the new supply chain is already seeing an ROI. In the first quarter of 2016, a third of all new U.S. cellular subscriptions were for cars. (This is not Bluetooth-tethered, but rather embedded cellular in new cars.) Electronics and software are driving the majority of the innovation, and so accordingly dictate where the investment money is going. Electrical/electronic sys- tems are projected to be 50 percent of total vehicle cost by 2030. The wiring harness, often the heaviest vehicle component after the engine and chassis, creates unique design challenges. Electric vehicles can have multiple voltage domains beyond the standard 12V, and the higher voltages Mentor Graphics (Cont'd. from p. 1) need heavier gauge cables, adding weight, cost and complexity. Bringing new applications to the mass market (and across the fleet) is diffi- cult. What's the best way, for example, to productionize something that was origi- nally introduced on a Mercedes-Benz S- Class or other luxury vehicle to a Ford Focus, where margins are tighter? No mat- ter what they drive, all consumers expect more features with every new platform release, but also have been conditioned that this is standard-fare tech evolution. This means no one expects to pay signifi- cantly more as car capabilities grow. So new mobility creates not only headlines and clickbait and marketing fodder, but also a perfect storm for car- makers and their suppliers: incorporating an ever faster cadence of electronics – and software-rich technologies, dealing with the associated increase in engineer- ing complexity – all while dealing with R&D budgets that rarely go up. This is where Mentor Automotive comes in. We find new ways to address the complexity and increase productivity of those R&D dollars either by partnering with carmakers and their traditional sup- pliers or helping those in the auto supply chain (old and new alike) adopt new design tools and production-grade refer- ence platforms to reduce development cost, eliminate design errors and speed up project cycle times to get that first- mover advantage. Sometimes we even throw in our own take on industry jargon for free. For more information, visit www .mentor.com/embedded-software or stop by suites #2530, #2903 and #2905. NEW HOMES WILL COME WITH AUTOMATION & 30 PERCENT LOWER ELECTRICITY BILLS Allterco Robotics started the global sales of a new series of home automation devices. It is called Shelly Pro and includes the products Shelly 4 Pro and Shelly Light Pro. These are the two newest company's home solutions, which are energy-saving and can transform any new house into a smart home. The two smart gadgets have integrated WiFi module and give the home owner the opportunity to manage all elec- trical appliances via their mobile phone from anywhere in the world. Thanks to the Shelly Pro smart series, now every builder and investor will be able to offer to future home own- ers a smart flat and the opportunity to manage it via the internet. "The experi- ments we carried out show that such a flat lowers the electricity consumption and increases significantly home com- fort. At the same time the investment for installation is only 150 euro per premise. Our experts are ready to help any builder with training and project design if he is interested in selling smart homes and to be one step ahead of others," commented Dimitar Dimitrov, Chief Executive Officer of Allterco Robotics. Optimize Smartly The Shelly Pro series allows builders to offer automation of new or renovated homes without increasing the investment in electricаl wiring. In addition, the series needs 20 percent less cables for the home wiring. The device Shelly 4 Pro is designed to manage electrical appliances and sockets, and Shelly Pro Light – to man- age lighting, as it makes possible not only the remote switching of lights via smartphone but also dimming. The two devices are mounted into the switchboard and allow four electrical cir- cuits to be managed, each one with con- sumption up to 2300W. The Shelly Pro series gives the consumer information in real time for the electricity consumption and thus allows him to optimize it. The two products have a 1.8-inch color dis- play, where users can see the status of every household electrical appliance and information about its consumption. Solution for Every Home By installing only one Shelly Pro in the home circuit, the consumers will be able to manage via their mobile phone the lighting in four rooms or the same num- ber electrical appliances, which most often is absolutely enough for a two- room flat. For this purpose, Allterco Robotics has also developed a special mobile app. It provides the opportunity to create different scenarios to be performed under certain circumstances. "In addition, we haven't forgotten about already built homes – if the owner doesn't want to change the home wiring, he can use the relays Shelly 2 which are the smallest ones in the world and can fit into an ordinary console behind a switch key or a power socket. They can operate two electrical circuits – 1.8 kW each, and they also display the consumption in real time," explained Dimitar Dimitrov. Voice Commands At CES 2017, Allterco Robotics is also showing for the first time a unique func- tion of its home automation solutions: Shelly and Shelly Pro – the option for their voice management via the popular home assistants Amazon Echo and Google Home. With this function, you will be able to say "turn off the lights" or "turn on the stove" and Shelly will do it.
